I also prefer Pia's beauty. Cat had an easier life compared to Pia in almost aspects like her family life, personal life, and the Ms. Universe journey, but this does not mean she did not do her best to compete either. Iba lang talaga ang pinagdaanan ni Pia compared to Cat.

This is one of the reason why we shouldn't argue with Catriona's top 6 in National costume. She has her criteria, she wants depth, she has pure love in our culture and she's meticulous in everything she wears, especially if it's national costume.

It hurts to think that those people who used to support you wholeheartedly in your journey ended up hating you just because you merely expressed your opinion and preferences that didn't sit well with their own. That's what I felt when some pinoys called her "insensitive" in social media. She represented philippines to the best of her ability (and she did so, wonderfully) and yet hate is what she got in return. The philippines don't deserve her.

Catriona set the bar really high not just for Miss Universe but for all future contestants all over the world. She became like a formula for everyone else to follow. From wardrobe preparations to speaking skills & personality development. I don’t mind if she will be the last MU of our country. If we can’t find another one as eloquent, smart & total package as her, I’m fine in not winning at all because Catriona will always be embeded on my mind as a point of comparison.

We all know all of her costume are beautiful. But take a moment to kudos to the green dress. As Thai myself, that was really really smart beginning and smart move. My soul was snatched by that dress and most of the Thai fans were crazy about it. Not only it's beautiful. But it is reflected that she did her homework, well thought out. Totally got my heart since day one.
The dress resembled Thai's traditional dress called สไบ (breast cloth). And that golden belt, actually it is the normal accessory that most of Thai women own (my grandma had many of them lol) But it compliment that green dress and Cat herself very well.

Oh my god, she thought for every look and researched so much, so so much. Special apploaud for the research, she even researched about the colour of the places and then decided the dress. Omg, she took the standard so so high. I'm just amazed by her.
She won not only because of her beauty and brains, but also because she was the most prepared and organized. Every moment, outfit, hair, makeup look, even the accessories, were well-thought of and well-executed. She was involved in every step of the way and planned everything beforehand. Really the gold standard for every Miss Universe 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The fact that she does her research about the place prior in order to coordinate and choose her outfit for every occasion is really a great embodiment of her personality. Not to mention the touches of home in every look like a bag that's made locally in the Philippines jz tells us how detailed, organized and well prepared she is given in any event, not jz the main competition. She represented Philippines, above and beyond. Well done Cat! Nice to know the behind the scenes of your Ms Universe 2018 journey. You're very disciplined and a really good role model to look up to. She didn't compete to MU just for experience, she straight up went for the crown. She knows that from the moment she landed in Thailand that she's already in the competition, every schedule have to be considered, and everything she'll be doing from then is important to win the crown, not just the prelimaries and finals night.
Before Cat, no other contestant/team, has exerted that much attention, and effort in promoting their contestant. Think of all the pre-competition videos she made, the music she created, all the charity works, even her outfits are relevant to her representing the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant. If she didn’t win, luto na talaga. Career na career si ateng! I think if she can create her own beauty house, she will be a great coach for future beauty queens on how to be completely prepared for the competitions.

I'm from Thailand, and I went to see you in the arena in the final round too, back in 2018. I loved all the queens, but I have to say that you truly won everyone's heart, inside and outside the arena alike.
I'm so proud that my home country Thailand got to host MU that year because it's the year that YOU won.
Somehow, apart from our past MU winners and contestants, I think many Thais reckon you as one of our sweethearts, too. Maybe it's because of the fact that apart from representing your home country and the PH culture so beautifully, you also presented Thailand and Thai culture (like Thai Waii) so gracefully to the whole world, too. And we were all so grateful for that.

Pia and Cat have different strategies during their respectives competitions. Pia's strategy was knowing when to peak, when to standout, as what was mentored to her: madaling mapagod kapag naka peak ka palagi. While Cat, she's always on peak by taking advantage every single minor/major events leading to the pageants. Both women used their strengths so well💖
Let us be realistic here. One is a sure winner from the get go while the other is a surprise winner.

Colombia, Belgium, USA, Domican Republic to name a few. Minsan na rin sinabi ni Pia na tinatabihan pa niya yung mga kilalang contestants tuwing mga events prior sa MU para mapag aralan kung bat ganun kaingay ung names nila sa crowd. Dark horse kumbaga. The green outfit she wore when she got into thailand, was the 1st time i saw her in this m.u. Journey and really felt how strong her presence was even if you’re just watching her from the tv. It’s like you’d feel her aura. 😌 plus good speaking skills, you’d feel the sincerity whenever she answers the questions. She’s really really good. She really deserves the 👑❤️

@@karenjones9215 Most countries took notes from Catriona's performance as you will notice in MU 2019, a lot of countries stepped up. You can see by the way they speak, the way the incorporate their advocacies, to the gowns that they wore. I already Thais and some other pageant contestants even mimicking Cat's walk

I love Rabiya but let’s be honest her national costume sucks. The stars looked like a bad DIY. Rabiya actually made it look better than what it is. The costume didn’t really tell much of what we are as a filipino. If the costume has a deeper meaning, it completely flew over my head.

She's very hands on to every detail of the pageant. This is the true dedication. Not about how prestige the designers are or how costly your gowns as long as you do feel the PRIDE while wearing the dress.. Watching this made me convinced that she was not just destined to win but she prepared and executed her preparations in order to win. I feel in any competition one must just do his or her assignments in order to understand his or her competition in order to stand out every step of the way. Likewise, the budget and preparations must not be left from supporters or organizers but more importantly the role also of the candidate to ensure there that things will be carried out well and according to plan. Winning in a pageant is about impression thus you have to create that impression that you prepared to win and that every moment is must be a statement of hey look at me I am a winner. Wear it feel it say it and be it the winner that you are in a competition such as a beauty pageant. This is a business so invest and invest to win. Congrats Ms. Grey.

20:38 That Pre-Interview outfit was so on point and perfect for the event. Nationalistic, impactful and unforgettable. It represented traditional Filipino women's outfit plus the skirt was of PH tribal cloth. When I saw her for the first time in that outfit, I automatically thought of Maria Clara.
I like it when before the pageant you were just so silent about your preparations, and when you finally came out twas like boom!! you really prepared for it.. your win is not by Luck... you really worked hard for it. . I salute you for that..

We know that you were so prepared but we only see the prelim and finals. This behind the scene careful planning and researching to wear the right wardrobe is beyond super amazing. I see that also struggle to win. Confident mindset and presenting yourself along with the wardrobe is perfect method. I love that it's all about Philippines touch, not just simply beautiful. A meaningful and patriotic textile and design.
I remember Catriona came to south cotabato where t'nalak festival being celebrated. She was really beautiful in person in fact she doesn't really have much makeup, just a simple look. She was really enjoyed having fun with the people, no wonder during the miss universe, most of her clothes has a details about t'nalak. She wasn't the miss u yet back then, but as people who interacted with her, i already saw that she can really win the contest. I am so happy for u Queen Cat❤👏

@@steshka1015 yes, t'nalak is from south cotabato. idk any online stores, but just check on google about t'nalak weaved cloth stores, but mas maganda talaga yung from lake sebu na mga products kasi original at handmade talaga ng mga t'boli's.
