I knit with black for the first time this year 50 years after learning to knit, and now I've knit twice with black. I believe that most people don't like it mainly because it's hard to see under artificial lighting. But I have an ott light so I don't care. My first black sweater is the Vanilla Sweater by Corrine Tomlinson. Same ravelry name as my youtube name. Nice podcast. Oh geeze!! I was just finishing this comment and I heard you say something about the Midland Buttertart festival which I've been to.....we are practically neighbours! My favourite buttertart is from Rosemont General Store......from Tottenham ONtario...
Hello from Italy! Just found your podcast and I really enjoyed spending time in your company. I also love black, so I tend to make garments that I know I will love to wear. Can’t wait to see your jumper made! Your Misurina is beautiful… I have added it to my favourite list on Ravelry. Happy knitting ❤
I *really* like your New Look tunic dress and your McCalls sleeveless trench! It's so nice to see someone using conventional pattern companies. :). And, for the record, I LOVE wearing skinny jeans and yoga pants. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have some swishy pants for summer wear, but I don't wear those in the winter. It will be interesting to hear how you make it work for snowy weather.
Thanks so much for watching!! I like sewing from the conventional pattern companies but sometimes think the more indie designers give more instruction in their patterns. But it depends.
Hi. About socks. Learn the number of stitches you need for them to fit well no matter shoe size. I knit mine with 68 sts cuff down and after gusset go down to 64 sts. Once you know the number of sts that work you’re all set
About colour choices, pick what suits you and makes you happy. I have similar taste to you I like the muted colours (dusty) as you describe them. And black, grey, beige etc are always good staples/neutrals to have in your wardrobe. Just subscribed,I too want to knit the misurina, but have the pattern and yarn for the alpine bloom,so will be knitting that one first.❤🧶
This was my first time and enjoyed your podcast from beginning to end I am a advanced beginner Soyer and advanced beginner. Knitter and I have crocheted since I was nine and I’m 69 but I’ve always wanted to knit so I am finally doing that. My life has slowed down tremendously. I’m a nurse that’s worked in the hospital from day one 40+ years. How was hit by head on all four limbs were shattered saved my brain And Spine. I had a foot dangling by tendons. They put it back on. I walked with it for a year, but I’ll mitis got the bone so I had to let a leg go below the knee , I have had my prosthetic three years and I’m doing great. I’m driving back working doing caregiving in the home. I can’t work the floor 12 hour shifts anymore but that’s OK. I am moving forward and since then my life is slow down so I thought prime time to pick up Knitting, so my goal last year was two knit top so I needed a tank top with Truboo yarn and this year I am making socks. I’ve had to build confidence mainly to do each step of the way. I am just now finishing up my first sock. I have watched a lot of TH-cam Summerly knits and Crazysocklady Podcast and I am doing her sock on 9 inch needles. I watch Knitty Mc Purley and starting in January. We’re going to be doing socks from summer Lee.’s book. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. Maybe you’ll want to join us. She’ll be sending out the Yarn for whatever so we’re gonna make each step of the way. It’ll be great. I’d love to have you join us. I like your style I like straight dresses like you do and now that I have a Prosthetic, I wear a lot of dresses and wi wide leg pants . You are encouraging me to get back into my sewing and I think I’m going to make that dress from new look N6650 I believe. Thank you so very much, Linda Cornelius
That is so great that you are learning how to knit now!! It's such a relaxing hobby. I've had many hobbies over the years and knitting is definitely my favorite. Thanks so much for watching 🤗☺️
Super vidéo! Great content! So happy to find Canadian content! Love your work and I love love love the vest! Can’t wait to see the sweater you make for it! Thank you!
Just stumbled upon your podcast and I so enjoyed it! So much inspiration! I really wish I could sew. The overalls look amazing! Thank you so much for a great episode!
Have you measured your foot width, you may have a long foot but it maybe that your foot is narrow, I knit a sock with between 56 to 60 stitches depending on pattern and needle size. It's a case of experimenting until you get your perfect fit 😊
What lovely garments you have sown! The jumpsuit suits you, you look beautiful in it. I like the Misurina and have it on my list but have not found the perfect yarn for it. Thanks for sharing ❤
I recently saw a you tube content creator (maybe knit California) talking about the Birkin. She said there are fit issues with this pattern. Read the reviews on other projects.
Thanks for the podcast. Appreciated! I am keen do knit the Misurina also. Have attempted the Birkin (which I love) but ended up with a funnel neck and had to rip out. On researching its a known issue and some seem to modify before commencing the colourwork. Can be a bodice fit issue as well and some go up a size or two to solve that. I used 4ply in my first attempt but considering 5ply for the next try and taking out rows after doing the neck ribbing and hopefully problems are resolved. A problem with the short row style they say which creates the funeral issue I also hear recently. Mentioning incase you have any issues, so you know it's not you. Determine to make though, as its gorgeous.
Hi! Thanks for watching! I have made Caitlin's Soldotna Crop before and had quite a small neck compared to the sample pictures. I seem to be having the same issue with my Misurina. After blocking the Soldotna it turned out ok. I'm hoping the same will happen with my Misurina! I just started on the Birkin yesterday and I'm pretty sure that the problem with the yoke has been fixed with her pattern update. There are now increases in the yoke color work. So if you have the old pattern maybe try to email and get the new one 😊
@@KnittingByTheBay I have the new pattern and still these issues unfortunately. Hope yours goes well but does expands our knitting abilities learning how to rectify.
Hello, I just found your channel and it was enjoyable from start to finish, I just subscribed, your overalls turned out fantastic, I will definitely be purchasing that pattern along with the fabric possibly for my birthday. Would you say that the overalls be okay for a beginner to try? Thanks so much😊
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm so happy you enjoyed the episode ☺️ I do think the overalls are good for a beginner. There is also a sew along on TH-cam for the pattern if you need more help: th-cam.com/video/virXFUc43J4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6Ipe40HXuagiWvjK Good luck and happy sewing!
I really love the sewing! So many knitting you tubes that I love this addition.

I soooooo want to knit a Birkin sweater Looking forward to seeing yours : )
You should!! I just finished the colour work section! It was fun! (A little annoying at times because some rows have 3 colors, but worth it I think!)

I have measured and I do actually have a pretty wide foot lol! So I'm not sure why I find them too big. Thanks for the suggestion though! 😁

For your socks, trying dropping down a needle size
I'm going to try that next time. Thank you! 😊
If your socks are loose, go down a needle size. I knit my leg on a #1 and my foot on a #0.
That's a great idea...I will try that next time. Thanks 😊
Basic sock is big to me. I am finishing my first sock
That is awesome!!
You might just go down 1 needle size to help with the sock being too big
I think I will try that next time! Thanks! 👍😊
