Reminds me of what happened when I tried to tell some of these game developers in my local country that they need to remember that gamer consumers are there to buy their games, but if game developers are going to accuse potential game developers who were originally gamer consumers in the first place of being racists and sexists, then don't expect anyone to buy their games and don't expect to find those with talent not want to get into game development and end up being successful in other areas in life.
Of course, they all accused me of being a sexist and racist, to be honest the games industry in the west, especially in Australia, can be run to the ground by these people for all I care, they are about as bad as the game developers in California who are all SJW politics and social issues, nothing to do with making great games in the first place.

You know what gets overlooked in this whole Jessica Price story; all she had to do was come up with some canned response about "Thank you for your feedback" and privately call the guy an asshole like everyone else does. All of this was so easily avoidable.

I'm an artist, and the most important thing to an artists craft is constructive criticism. That's how you can become better at your form of art (whatever it may be). It's the artists who can't take critical comments that stay stuck and never get any better. I don't know much about about game development (aside from taking a couple classes in high school where we learned how to use unity and write java script) but i know it takes a lot of time, effort, and care to make a game come to fruition, but it's still a form of art like any other and needs to be criticized at times to help make sure future games do not suffer from the same issues. The lack of valid constructive criticism is probably why the gaming industry (and the movie industry too) is in the shitter.

Also, Price's defense on why she couldn't write MMO characters differently from one to another was her own shortcoming. It's been done in games like Dragon Age: Origins where each class or race or character had their own unique story that unraveled throughout the epic conflict which swept all the different characters into the fray. I didn't read the rest of the Dioror or whatever guy's response to her op, but I'm sure he was going to suggest something along those lines.

I also work in the industry and if someone gave me feedback and critisism to something I created - I ALWAYS take it onboard and consider the fact someone else might know something else I dont or they see an angle that you missed. It's how I became skilled at my trade, listening to what others saw in what I created and from that I grew and got better and still thrive on new ideas and thoughts from people. Her behaviour is shameful to the whole industry, no, the whole human race. It shows such a level of arrogance, she could have said "I respect your opinion and I thank you for taking the time and interest in my work" or anything else instead of what she wrote.
You can be proud of your work, but also find comfort and stay humble in the fact that the internet holds a plethora of people all better than you and many of them are willing to teach you something you might not know and you can do the same for others. We never stop growing unless we stunt it with anger and hubris.
