    I would LOVE to see you paint 3 identical things (maybe chairs?) with all 3 kinds of paint (milk, chalk, DIY) to show the difference in how it applies, and how it sands off.

    I have watched several of your videos now. You guys really do a great job. Not only do you impart what you are doing as you do it, handing out great tips throughout, but then you recap. Very professional. I am almost ready to try some of this. Going to make a trip to Harbor Freight first and get a sprayer.

    The more furniture I paint, the more I develop my style. I wound up painting the sides of drawers and their sides, and the inside where the drawers slide in, about 6 inches. I'm trying to get more up the nerve to sand as heavy as you do. After all the work of painting, it looks so clean and nice and I just sand lightly. I love your work but I'm not as bold as you are. You're so lucky to have a mate who takes part and is interested and HELPS!!

    I really like it....put it a washroom with large tub off center...add terrible looking washboards....you could take this this through all four seasons leave washboards and go for it...I would add it to country French...love it...entry hall with gold French mirror over that you very lightly add same paint...maybe take gold down in color with more bronze look...

    I really do enjoy your videos! great techniques! And I look forward to more videos. With that said, It looks like that chest is from the early 20th century , maybe a little earlier, I'm thinking around the 20's ...... are those wood wheels? Anyway it also looks to be quarter sawn (tiger oak) wood..... I personally wouldn't paint over that but it really is no big deal if you wanted to go back to the original. Bottom line I really do like the way it turned out ! Looking forward to trying this out!! Thanks for sharing!!

    Has to be one of my favourites. Jami could you help me out please. I want to sell a piece of furniture Ive painted but inside the drawers are a bit scruffy looking any chance you could you do a video on how to spruce up the inside of old drawers to make pieces more saleable. Thank You.

    So I am just curious say you used the milk paint and it chipped more then you wanted...before waxing could you do a second coat with bond in it..I like the painted over many times look for like a barn door or a shutter would it stick to the paint already on there? I hope that makes sense! I live on a farm and many outbuildings have been painted or probably have many coats of lime and the base coat wasn’t sanded smooth...I would like to get that look for some accent pieces like windows or shutters for inside...if it would stick I think this could achieve that look! What do you think? Many thanks for imparting your knowledge you have taught me so much!😊

    When using this finish, how long did you wait between first coat and second coat and how long before you sanded?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just until it was dry. Then I did the neck thing coat. I also sanded once dry

    Do you have to use milk paint to blend and get a chippy look ?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily but it sure does help. The milk paint naturally chips and crackles and flakes.

      No, it was a veneer and it was chipping and flaking off all over. Zen glued it some before we started but it was still pretty damaged.

    Is white wax the same as liming wax?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve used lime wash but never lime wax so I couldn’t say for sure. It adds a soft white and tones down bright colors some. Much like a dark wax would darken a piece, white wax lightens it.

    That was quarter sawn tiger oak 😢 I’m sorry I have to cry on this one, I know, I know you’re a painter lol, also this blended finish confused me, were you mixing two colors to make a third color? Or is that just what it ended up being? In the end it turned out cute, I cannot tell a lie. The air hose lol I do that! Haha best idea ever, I even do it after heavy distressing bc I only distress by hand bc I’m a gluten for punishment, I’m afraid to distress with the sander, I would ruin my piece for sure lol
