That beautiful blue coloured flower tree they're trying to replant is called Blue Mist (Memecylon umbellatum), Sinhala - Korakaha.

Hi Lucie, what a lovely video that made me nostalgic ..!! I’ve worked in Wasgamua for a few years with the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society…! They do a lot of work with the communities on conservation and human elephant conflict!!! It’s definitely worth visiting them if you go there again 😊

This program brought back memories of how we lived in Sri Lanka before 1977. Life was simple and beautiful. There were no brand names to chase, and material possessions were never a priority. We were genuinely happy, content with what we had, and the word "employed" didn’t carry the weight it does today. We focused on our needs, not our wants, and there was no reason to complain.
But after 1977, everything changed. The Western lifestyle was introduced and, in many ways, forced upon us. That marked the end of our innocence and the values we once cherished. The competition began, moral values started to erode, and our unique Sri Lankan culture began to fade.
