To anyone having hotstart issues, 30% throttle at 15% turbine pressure, what I did was give it too little throttle and then it will hot start, bump it directly to 30% or so and it starts up just fine :D Loving it so far, its a Bell 47 on roids, it flies very similarly as it should but without the constant fight for performance and power! :D
Having been to Bella Coola a number of times, I can tell you are correct about the guy in a coffee shop with a radio. He’s a very good guy though. His name is Stewart.
I can't wait to see what helicopters come out as this part of the sim develops more. When I was in the Army I once got a ride in the front seat of an AH-1 Cobra. It was an amazing experience and I'd love to be able to fly one in the sim.
Don’t worry about turning the realism slider down to medium, you actually made it more realistic by doing that, with the higher setting it is far more unstable than real helicopters, same goes for AirLandFS helicopters, I’ve seen a few real pilots including Bell 47 pilots and a R44 pilot that have stated as such, and after flying them myself and watching the the real helicopters being flown and watching their inputs it’s quite obvious they are right.
I could never really control FlyInside's Bell 47 in realistic mode, but I think the 206 is quite manageable. You have to be on your toes all the time, but I hear that this is the case in the real world as well. I would say the modelling and textures are absolutely okay, but not outstanding. The highlight here is the flight model and the systems, and those are top notch IMHO!
This was a no brainer for me after the Bell 47. I did expect the textures to be similar to the Bell 47, but the seem a little higher quality, and the cockpit does feel great in VR. I'm no way a real Helicopter pilot, but I love my sim choppers and this one feels very realistic to control imo, with only tiny movements needed on the cyclic - similar to the Bell 47. I flew it in realistic mode, and had the hang of it (loosely) after around 10 minutes, then the real fun began. Flyinside seem a great team, and I'm sure they'll take your feedback on texturing on board, however it really is a minor gripe for me - flying in cockpit view in VR is really all I'm going to be doing! Nice video, and not a bad landing attempt at all - considering your PC tried to kill you with that freezing 😂😂
Overall I'm very happy with the 206. The system depth and flight model certainly are top notch. The modeling is very good for the most part too. I have to agree about the textures and detail modeling: The 206 looks too clean and too perfect. The surfaces are perfectly smooth with no slight indentations in the metal, not a single speck of dirt or any scratches whatsoever. But it's all that micro detail that makes all the difference when trying to sell the illusion of looking at a real full sized aircraft and not just a tiny toy replica made out of plastic. Just take a close look at the Asobo/Nemeth Bell 407. They use bump mapping and baked in ambient occlusion to great effect. And for the master class of modelling and texturing look no further than the Carenado Bonanza. On that aircraft you can see how the metal panels are not perfectly smooth but have slight undulations/imperfections that catch the light differently in different places. And every single rivet has a slight indentation where the rivet's pressure pushes the sheet metal onto the frame. These little details sell the illusion perfectly, because you pick up on them subconsciously, even when you are not looking that closely. Just like we subconsciously pick up on it, when these details are missing. It's the uncanny valley effect for aircraft. 😉 And of course there is my pet peeve: even for being blue tinted the external cockpit/bubble glass is to opaque/milky in bright conditions. It looks as if someone went to town on it with coarse sandpaper. Milky glass is a staple of cheap plastic toys and it just doesn't look right when you try to sell the illusion of a real full sized helicopter. I really hope there will be some improvements on the texturing in the future. I can't recall any aircraft that allows opening doors, hatches etc. from the drone camera. It only works when taking the cockpit camera outside. If there are any aircraft that allow that with the drone camera, please let me know. You waited too long with opening up the throttle. You need to introduce the fuel with the throttle precisely when the gas producer gauge is at 15%. Yours was at 20% for a while already before you openend up the throttle. That's why you had the hot start.
My fave aircraft of all time, absolute classic. First thing I ever left the ground in, before I'd even been in an aeroplane, I was about 9 yrs old on a pleasure flight at Blackpool airshow, my passion for Helicopters started there. As I got older and eventually was able to afford it, I got my PPL(H) in the R22. When that lottery win comes in I'll be seeking out a good 206 I reckon. Will deffo fly one soon, even if it's just for an hour. Good to have in the logbook!. I'll probably get this model for MSFS, looks decent. One thing I did notice in your video, at 21:39 somehow the aerofoil of the rotor blade looks back to front? it's rotating the right way for a Bell 206, but the aerofoil just seems wrong to me. Anyone elese notice that?. Sorry for being such a geek 🙂
What a brilliant video! Your personality makes your videos! Well done. I have the Bell 47G and I’m considering this purchase. Like you, I’m not skilled but I do have a joystick and pedals which helps and I really enjoy the change from liners to rotorcraft. Just might get it. Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Lee
Great video again Av my only issue is with your audio level which is low for a deaf old git like me, so I have to boost it but when the youtube ad's come on I get blown out of my seat lol
Great to hear there's a difficulty slider, the one thing holding me back from buying this was that I suck with the default helicopters. Milvi- err, *Blackbird* are working on a Huey :)
There is just a little detail in the shape of the forward curve of the skids that should be corrected. It would be nice to have diferent versions including the fuel intake, skids and stapes.
I’ve seen this scenery before I think. It looks like the scenery around CYBD Bella Coola. Where is this scenery? I always enjoy your reviews. Thanks for your time and effort.
Great review and you made me laugh a lot with your take off because I can relate completely being a GA plane flyer and flying rotary windmill aircrafts are my worst nightmare alkso. I also use my Honeycomb Alpha yoke and Bravo Throttle so I'm such as bad with you. Need to buy Virpil controllers to fly them. Do it use the new controller bindings especially for helicopters or default as planes? Sounds are super. I'll get it later once I have my controller
it flies GLORIOUS. I'll be the first to admit it's fugly. I put like that, it looks like XP11 and flies like XP11 good payware, I'll take the tradeoff ;) AND with flyinside injected FM i know this helis is immune from asobo FM shenanigans, so worth it for me. I'll def take 35€ for good FM and middling visuals over the exact opposite from HPG
Come on AvAngel it's not like your flying an aircraft that is trying to rip its self apart and with out a million inputs will loose control . That and your controlling four things at once constantly adjusting on unstable lawn mover that wants to kill you and itself !!! . All things considered nice job AvAngel and cool review . As you can probably tell I'm not a helicopter fan either . And having had to work with them through my job and being tall ......not a fan they scare me . Any way cool review and have Merry Christmas .
Do you have any add ons for terrain or trees it looks really nice and nice flying I've modded my old saitiek x45 took spring out and added clamps to axis so stick stays where you put it and makes the helicopters in DCS much easier to fly especially the apache I'm looking at getting MSFS to just fly around and look at scenery ! Thank you
Like the videos, great stuff right there. Question, besides choosing what plane you decide for your next video. How do you go about picking your next location? airport? I like your very out of the Box exotic flavors of choice in your videos. I'd never of choose them because I didn't even knew they existed :-) lol Do you sip from your favorite glass of wine & throw a lawn dart at a spinning globe within your living room & say, "that's the Place for my next video?" >sarcasm added
I just noticed something strange. Helicopter blades are airfoils just like a wing. That means the cross section has a fat leading edge and a thin trailing edge. In your video as the rotor slows to a stop and the tip of the blade comes close to the camera you will see that the Rotor motion is in the wrong direction or the blade is reversed.
Do you have a higher end system? Or is the system a bit maxed out to fly MSFS ? I ask because what you observed might have been an aliasing effect. (As rotor RPM decreases and approaches a “harmonic” (multiple) of frame rate, subsequent frames may make the blade APPEAR to move in the wrong direction, leading to the observed “airfoil is backwards.”Just a thought.)
mmm nice chopper, (ok so i was raised watching carry on films... sorry i just couldnt resist ), i tend to crash and burn attempting helicopter flights...
I was looking forward to this coming to Xbox, but it's very likely it won't. After watching this, doesn't seem worth it even if it did. When's the face reveal coming?
"After watching this, doesn't seem worth it even if it did." Oh, it's worth it all right.. textures aren't the greatest but it fly's superbly.. it's easily the best heli in the sim. No contest.
@@tripodcatz5532 If Flyinside were all about the money they would have used the Asobo FM and made a lot more cash from Xbox sales. It's a absolute blast to fly. Bloody fantastic machine. Not the best looker, but easily the best flyer. I'll take a quality FM over "bling" any day.
Maybe Im stuipid, but "modelling looks very good and detail is very high" is the opposite of what this is. No way that you can save it with better textures alone.....
OMG, one of the worst looking visual models ever released for MSFS2020. I wish people were more honest with these reviews, even when developers give them free software. :(
The visual cockpit model is HORRIBLE - FSX style, cartoonish instrument gauges with no glass reflection effect. For that matter, most FSX visual models were more advanced 20 years ago (it's that bad). Despite the archaic visual model, framerates are seriously compromised on most hardware, and you can expect regular stuttering on anything less than absolute hardcore computer systems. I mean, dammit, look at the stuttering going on in THIS video @20:09 Typical crap FlyInside sparse flight manual that doesn't even have an engine shutdown procedure detailed (can you say minimal effort). If this thing were Freeware, I'd still have reservations, but for $35 payware, the FlyInside Bell 206 is simply unacceptable. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed with a commercial addon for MSFS2020 as I am with this one.
ATC being run from a Starbucks? I can hear the controllers' union now clamoring to update their contracts! "N615CF you are cleared for departure to the north, runway 21L...yes, extra shot of espresso please. Oh, not you N615CF...I was talking to the barista." ☕ 🎧📡🛩🛫🛬🚁😳

Proper funny when you started having a pop at the ATC!!! :)
10:10. I love the igniter clicking then the whoosh sound (like a furnace igniting) as the engine starts up. Sweet.
Finally, someone who allows the headphones to reduce the sound. A really nice touch.
