in what way is cod worse than that? a scam is literally just that, taking your money for nothing. cod is something you can play with and use for years. this wont last until January.
So far no crypto project has survived long enough to grow legs, pun intended. The chances of the in-game economy going downhill is too likely to ignore
This is where I'm at. The crypto space has been filled with games that are blatant scams or poorly designed. OTG has potential and I won't write it off because of crypto elements... but the optimization is going to turn off players.
Cuz everyone are like that , spending 100$ on cod+ battlepass and cod point.... When a game is free to play they expect it to be free and have no way to make money somehow 😂
Did you not watch the video? He said he doesn't play blockchain games and thinks alot of cryptos are a scam. Play the game if you want, this is his opinion.
I think it's more of the unsafe practices this leans on. For cod or most games out there, you want to buy a skin, you pay the money the game asks for done end of transaction. If I understand how this games system works from what I've heard (I have absolutely no interest in BRs, so I'm not playing it). you get something in the game, take it out, and you then have the item. Then, depending on how "rare" it is, you could turn around and ask $100 for the item. Now someone could buy it from you for $100, then said person could go off and sell it for $500, or even more. If no one monitors this, it could cause the money you and others have invested to be worth nothing! Essentially, while it is new and fresh, it will be like the newest COD, you decide what you want to spend on something, but after the new wears off, just like older CODs the money essentially is useless unless you still use it/play. The big difference here is that just like most crypto and NFT stuff, it could be used to make all the money worth a lot, for them to just turn around, and sell it while it's worth the most and make some real cash, and leave everyone else with a loss. This isn't just a problem to Crypto and NFTs , but this is what people are putting the spotlight on the most recently. TLDR: It's more like stocks than a straight transaction, and most people COULD lose more money than they make because of not understanding it.
it doesnt make any sense....people are probably brainwashed into supporting traditional cash grabs......crypto actually gives you total ownership and allows you to make money after spending money on the game....why anyone would dislike that i have no idea
I'm 48 and playing on xbox, I have not really had many performance issues sometimes a little lag but that's it. As for NFT and the Crypto side i have not spent a penny and i have had a great time playing.
Your bias against crypto has given you a fundamental misunderstanding of how the crypto aspect of the game works. Let me explain it in some simple points: -Players earn GUNZ tokens & Hexes (lootboxes) like any other battle royale -- APEX Coins and Loot Boxes in Apex Legends -GUNZ tokens *cannot* be withdrawn from the game to sell; tokens can not be bought and deposited into your account to give you an advantage -only items from Loot Boxes can be withdrawn from the game and sold on a marketplace -The marketplace is no different than a third-party site or Steam marketplace, other than it uses blockchain as the backend technology instead of a SQL database. This essentially means less dev & maintenence work for the game studio to do to keep this marketplace alive. -Players can buy a $11.99 / mo battle pass with their credit card just like in any other game they play, this is not a crypto component. The idea with this game was to build a fun, new battle royale, with a CSGO-type of experience that allowed players to trade their skins around instead of having to go to sketchy websites and risk getting banned.
The only micro transaction is the pass. You can't buy the gun tokens you have to earn them by playing the game or selling items you don't want. I don't know why this guy is talking about a lot of microtransactions when you only have to spend $12
Well, microtransactions were you are spending in game currency on stuff. I guarantee they will at some point have a way to buy and sell the in game currency for cash. Not that I have a specific problem with that; I do think NFT and blockchain are silly in a game context, but as an end user it makes little difference compared to a game where a database tracks who has what items, and an in-game currency to use in a game store to buy/sell/trade items.
I've been "no-life-ing" this game since it came out (about a week).. took a couple days to gain my bearings.. it wasn't until day 3 where I actually built my first load out.. somehow at that point I had acquired between 250-350 gun coin.. the good epic weapons cost 70-80 and each attachment 20-30 (you can have up to 4 on epic rarity weapon).. the epic cyberlimbs cost about 70-80 also.. I actually had a blast trying to budget my gun coin to get stuff.. starting with common weapons.. saving up some coin.. then upgrading to rare and so on.. I liked that I was able to sell my less valuable weapons after I was done using them.. (yes, on day 4 I decided to purchase the subscription and that allowed me to sell items in the market) it wasn't until day 3 or 4 where I started focusing more on extracting the hexes and that really put me over the edge, being able to immediately sell the items after acquiring them to help fund my dream load out. At this point I have 3 great loadouts to choose from depending on the situation.. and I'm working on the 4th, its all been fun so far. Only one time did I hit the jackpot and got a super rare emote out of a purple hex that I was able to sell for 700 gun coin over night! I guess if I ever get to the point where I feel like I have absolutely everything that I could possibly want in terms of weapons, attachments and cosmetics.. then, maybe I could get bored of the game loop, but as of now.. I really enjoy hunting for those hexes and trying to extract them. The player base has been getting better so, it makes for some tense situations in game where multiple enemies are trying to steal them from you.. when you survive and extract them, it's an awesome feeling. idk what prompted this long response lol sorry.
ps I have a 1080ti and i7 8700k.. I did have to go into the game files to change the graphics values like he mentioned in this video.. i'm only getting between 50-90 fps but it feels pretty playable MOST of the time.. seems to get better after the first match or two, and I'm not sure if they have done a stealth patch or two this week, but it really has been feeling and looking better the last couple days.
The 'Price' situation for attachment is primarily due to the Markets not being Cross-Platform. So, the extremely limited supply plus the Rarity of higher tier attachments leads to the market being dominated by, well, Bot accounts and those who are essentially scalping. Though, ignoring that. The game is incredibly fun! Especially with a group, since Randoms tend to be heavily inconsistent. I'm pretty sure people already have been making Clans surrounding the game, since Clan Tags are a thing.
@@badger297 use your cyber-limbs! I'm still trying to train myself to use them more frequently in fights.. and not rely solely on guns.. i notice that the people who destroy me usually hit me with some ability first (like sludge, fire, electricity, etc..) before they proceed to melt me with their weapons.. hope that helps!

Yes, game needs a lot of optimization but it is really fun. If you don’t want to buy stuff, don’t. You can get items by extracting hex in game. Kinda how you don’t have to buy the battle passes or skins for Apex, CoD, Val…This doesn’t feel like an objective review for some reason to me
Dude is salty because he didnt get an offer to promote the game😂 its a great game and its in a EARLY ACCSESS. Its gonna be optimized before the final release
Yet another guy that got no idea how nft's and blockchain work, most probably baught some crypto at high price and got reckt . As for monthly sub, some hugely successful non-NFT games been using it for years, I'll rather play a nft game than a sub game. I can choose to buy, or grind. And 99% of games release buggy, non optimized or gets broken with every patch. He has his opinion and some point's might be correct, but high prices for skins, weapons etc was always around, mostly on the black market/3rd party sites against most game terms. WOW pets sold for up to $10 000 before the days of crypto / nft's. Time to grow up and embrace technology and help fix whats wrong
I agree this is far better than the current system from Valve, Activision, or blizzard you can get guns for free just extract hex and use free in game currency GUNZ
PoS is based on plutocracy where only the rich can become a staker. How do they get rich irl? Of course by ravaging the earth and exploiting other people.
The game is awesome. Aside from the performance which should improve with actual game release. But to be real it's not even that bad. This guy is exaggerating quite a bit. It's a play test bro. Chill...
Agreed. Whether the game is good or not, I feel like "so bad that it seems like vaporware" is certainly exaggerated, since after all he's playing the game. Vaporware (for games), you tend to have game play videos (which people later find out were pre-rendered, not made in a game engine), and end up with no game to actually play. The difference I see with this game versus previous NFT games I've seen.. the previous ones I've seen (not personally, but descriptions and videos) had bad to very bad graphics, no plot/background, and gameplay loop that ranges between "not fun" and "what gameplay?" (like "get a piece of property and it 'creates' coins", i.e. no gameplay at all.) In contrast... I still think NFT/blockchain is dumb, but this looks like a game (whether it's good or not) that is just using NFT/blockchain to track assets instead of a good o'l fashioned database; and "GUNZ" crypto currency instead of some good ol' fashioned in game fun bucks. .... I have a GTX1650. I'll have to see how it runs on there. And no, I'm not buying any crypto or NFTs, just as I don't pour cash into games that use a conventional store or marketplace.
The only people exaggerating are the ones claiming it's acceptable to push a crypto scam in a video game. You people are clearly just bot accounts, either that are the kind of "people" that watch shills like fatman and the predator himself.
@@MichaelFoster117 I didn't even spend any. The game is free. The currency is free. You know nothing about the game too. Lol You don't even know what blockchain is either
Fortnite sells skins for 20 bucks generating 4b last year *quiet*. This game creates a marketplace to where players sell the skins they've earned in game, *loses mind and calls it a scam*. As long as multibillion dollar companies are making money from micro transactions, fine. When the guy up the street does it then thats a scam and too far....got it.
That is the thing. Fortnite skin prices are fixed in dollar terms. Everything here is priced in GUNZ. You trade in secondary in GUNZ. You open lootboxes in GUNZ. When equipment has stats affecting gameplay, it makes really bad "pay to win" elements. CS GO and Fortnite sell skins. They don't let you trade for better weapons with real money. Once GUNZ launches on AVAX subnet, you expect extreme volatility. So the cost of these of lootboxes and secondary also become extremely volatile. That is a very bad dynamic for shooters. Overtime, you lose players and need new players to come in. What I said makes it a huge barrier of entry because new players have shitty load outs. They have to use GUNZ to unlock and consequently making acquiring new players extremely expensive.
@@pizzadoe7922 maybe, but as long as you earn the same amount of gunz tokens playing the game and it costs the same as now to decrypt hexes then the actual price of the gunz token won't impact the game in any way. It will stay the same as it is now. But supply and demand, if people want the gunz token without playing they can buy it and the more demand there is to buy it the more valuable the tokens will become.

The idea behind the game and NFT part is that if more games adopt this blockchain technology you can use your skin from Fortnite let’s say here in the Off The Grid
Respect your views. I think you're wrong about blockchain games, but that's your opinion. Didn't get through all the video, couldn't get passed that "crypto is bad for the planet". Surely the banking industry uses far more energy resources than crypto. Personally I believe blockchain gaming is the future. The more great blockchain games we get the better they'll become. The future will be exciting!
Yall will pay $20+ for a skin on CoD that didn't even transfer to the new games for the longest time but now a game comes out where you can actually resell skins and items back to other players when you don't use them anymore and that's a problem now? Lol
You are definitely their target audience. How many games did you trade back to gamestop over the years weeks after release and get like 30% of your money back?
I just didn't get it. How much money did you pay for that game? I assume it's zero. And you are still freely playing, there is no restrictions. So how does this game appear to be expensive at all?
I’ve been playing it for the last 4 days/ nights. I really enjoy it! It definitely needs to improve from an optimization standpoint. It’s early though and I’m still having fun. I’ll keep playing and see where this thing goes.
I hope the crypto transaction technology takes over let the game devs make money off transactions and playing over endless battle passes with constantly declining skins

that was brutal. I saw a couple clips of it on Twitter where somebody was checking if the game had fall damage and he lost his legs, didn't know about the monkey jpeg/optimization issues.
I'm not a crypto bro or anything of that sort id prefer it not to have any of that stuff in it. I loaded the game up and just played it and gameplay wise I really enjoy it. Game definitely needs optimized there is a video showing how to gain like 40 percent more fps changing stuff in the config file manually
Let me clear something that your beloved TH-camr have no clue and speak a lot of BS: you can enjoy the game without interacting with the crypto part as long as you don’t want to sell your in game tokens or assets that you will extract. So just play and don’t listen to this man frustrations
I strongly believe that anyone who wrongly accuses someone else of wrongdoings without having any good evidence should be treated the same way as the alleged wrongdoing would be treated. For example, someone falsely throwing a r*pe accusation should be treated as a r*pist themselves. Therefore anyone throwing a "scam" accusation at this game without presenting any evidence of fraudulent activity should themselves be forever treated as dirty scammers until such evidence is presented or some sincere public apologies are made by them. It's OK to dislike NFT/crypto stuff. I don't like that stuff myself. But throwing unsubstantiated accusations is absolutely NOT OK.
Also it's funny how the author even insinuates that the game's assets are "generated by crypto or AI somehow", which is a laughable statement by itself, both from a tech standpoint and from the lack of evidence standpoint. But they're also using an AI-upscaled game poster for their thumbnail. This just reeks of hipocricy. Who knows, maybe they are secretly buying bitcoin too.
Are the weapons being sold actually different gameplay/stat wise or is it simply a cosmetic difference? If its just cosmetic it sounds fine to me, if it affects gameplay then I find it just as bad as any other pay to win game. I don’t if its another player selling the better item, money shouldn’t determine if you win or lose, if I wanted that I would go outside and touch grass.
On the crypto stuff - totally fair to not buy the whole decentralized world thing, but I wanted to clarify a few inaccurate or misleading information in this video. - Avalanche subnets (the chain this game runs on) are extremely energy-efficient - there is and always will be negligible energy cost to run this game, or really the entire Avalanche network. - Most asset prices are being controlled by Gunzilla, so there really aren't many outrageously priced items (not to say that there aren't some). - Crypto is opt-in in this game. I'd rather have a game where I have the option to sell the guns that I earn in-game than one that doesn't have that option at all. - I agree that the GUNZ acquisition rate needs to be tweaked, but if you win a match you can earn up to 25+ GUNZ, which isn't awful in comparison to item prices (20-75 GUNZ).
even if the cryptocurrency is the best ever, the most ethical, the most appropriately applied, the most efficient, it's mere existence is a binary "do not interact at all" red flag. crypto has no place in gaming period. i don't want to play in a game that (even if it's opt-in right now) follows the "play to earn" mindset. this video game isn't my job. and the community is gonna be filled with crypto bros trying to sell me their scam nfts

He's heard the word blockchain, done some mental gymnastics to make blockchain and crypto mutually inclusive of each other, formed an opinion based on nothing but his own opinions, then made a video talking about his own ill informed subjective opinions. The game is built on blockchain technology, crypto is just one very small use of blockchain technology. They are not the same thing. The optimization is not perfect. It's way better than COD’s system where Activision charges crazy amounts and takes all the profits. Of course, there will be hustlers, but they exist in the real world too. People automatically freak out when they hear "crypto," but NFTs give players real ownership and the chance to get value back, unlike COD where you're stuck with what you buy.
If they were taking the money on the skins, nto the gas ont eh subnet, he could possible be within 1000 km of a real point. Actually, though, its a shamefully ignorant take.
Only bitcoin requires a lot of energy. Ethereum and Avalanche use proof of stake validation which doesn't involve mining. It uses the same amount of energy as any other software.

I'm a little confused about the game/Driftor's perspective; assuming you can't buy the NFT's/Cryptocurrency with anything besides currency earned in game, I don't really understand the problem? A player Marketplace is far from a new idea and the NFT/Crypto stuff really just seems like a in game concept that happens to also be thematic with its style. Edit: I guess the dev's might incorporate blackchain to the marketplace in order to buy and sell stuff like the Counterstrike store.
@@ChrisPFuchs The game is in testnet atm, there may be a way to buy ingame currency/GUNZ crypto with actual money soon. time will tell. so theres a chance people that are just rich and not even gamers, will buy the crypto in hope of making money
The whole concept of NFT's in gaming is that if you get good enough at the business side of the game and spend thousands of hours playing/learning it, it can be your living. Not from streaming or TH-cam, but just playing the game. And for every one who makes enough money to survive off of trading in this game, there's hundreds or thousands of people losing their money. It's a pyramid scheme like all of crypto, you just can't see it yet. This game is no different from the cheap pokemon knockoffs that people in the third world play for 18 hours a day off of the hope that they can one day escape their poverty. And more often than not, it makes the poverty worse since it's basically gambling with a few extra steps.
I don't know if you can buy guns or currency with real money but you have to pay a $15 subscription to sell items on the market which is prettt stupid.
@ChrisPFuchs there is no reason to add NFTs to the game unless you want to want to make money off of it. There is nothing in here that *needs* crypto to function, counterstrike doesn't need it for skins. The devs are spending extra to make the game compatible with crypto because they know they'll make that money back many fold through people that are always looking for the next big crypto craze.
Yeah, this seems like it's genuinely being blown way out of proportion. This seems to be the one game that has crypto that isn't bad. And I've seen how bad crypto games can be, I've watched all of Jauwn's videos on many of them (great channel, btw)

@@Drift0r it's and early access FFS, people are still working on improving it. Making such a game is hard and expensive and takes time. At least the devs aren't deceiving people, ulike the author of this video.
You fundamentally misunderstand NFTs. Owning a digital certificate gives you absolutely 0 added protection against a company simply taking your asset out of their game. You've purchased a decentralized asset that only has utility when a centralized entity acknowledges it. If the Off The Grid devs decided to stop allowing your NFT in game, then you instantly lose the ability to use it in the game, just like CoD.
No single skin is anywhere more than $11 They last until the next game, and forever if you keep playing that cod like millions do. LMFAO how do you OWN nft skins but not cod ones that will never be shutdown or taken away???
Not a tech bro, but I've at least done the bare minimum amount or research to know that the blockchain has way more practicality/utility than current game marketplaces.. "NFT" and "crypto" does not mean "SCAM" it means blockchain technology.
Think of streamers who have been sponsored by shady gambling platforms, they get given money to gamble with on stream and the site gives their account a huge boost in win percentage chance, as a tactic to lure people in to deposit and lose their money. I just feel something similar will go down with this game. There is so much more room for shady manipulation to occur in a similar fashion with this game.

What’s the difference between paying for cod skins and skins in this game? Not trying to flame, just curious of why it pisses you off so much
Cuz everyone are like that , spending 100$ on cod+ battlepass and cod point....
Crypto is a scam that is destroying the planet, hope this helps ❤

I bought the battle pass but besides that nothing else, game is very enjoyable
Your bias against crypto has given you a fundamental misunderstanding of how the crypto aspect of the game works. Let me explain it in some simple points:
-Players earn GUNZ tokens & Hexes (lootboxes) like any other battle royale -- APEX Coins and Loot Boxes in Apex Legends
-GUNZ tokens *cannot* be withdrawn from the game to sell; tokens can not be bought and deposited into your account to give you an advantage
-only items from Loot Boxes can be withdrawn from the game and sold on a marketplace
-The marketplace is no different than a third-party site or Steam marketplace, other than it uses blockchain as the backend technology instead of a SQL database. This essentially means less dev & maintenence work for the game studio to do to keep this marketplace alive.
-Players can buy a $11.99 / mo battle pass with their credit card just like in any other game they play, this is not a crypto component.
The idea with this game was to build a fun, new battle royale, with a CSGO-type of experience that allowed players to trade their skins around instead of having to go to sketchy websites and risk getting banned.
and his rant about energy consumption..... I turned the video off xD
@@TakaShiGUREEDO shows you the propaganda works to warp people's minds into not thinking for themselves XD
Per month
This dude has no clue... stick to your fiat 🤡
(yes, on day 4 I decided to purchase the subscription and that allowed me to sell items in the market)
it wasn't until day 3 or 4 where I started focusing more on extracting the hexes and that really put me over the edge, being able to immediately sell the items after acquiring them to help fund my dream load out.
This is an extremely helpful comment. Thank you. Any tips for new players?

Yes, game needs a lot of optimization but it is really fun. If you don’t want to buy stuff, don’t. You can get items by extracting hex in game. Kinda how you don’t have to buy the battle passes or skins for Apex, CoD, Val…This doesn’t feel like an objective review for some reason to me

I still think NFT/blockchain is dumb, but this looks like a game (whether it's good or not) that is just using NFT/blockchain to track assets instead of a good o'l fashioned database; and "GUNZ" crypto currency instead of some good ol' fashioned in game fun bucks.

i am now dumber for having read this comment.. you missed the point completely

Well, it's also early access, I guarantee they will at some point have a way to buy these for cash, or sell them for cash. Not that I have a specific problem with that; I do think NFT and blockchain are silly in a game context, but as an end user it makes little difference compared to a game where a database tracks who has what items, and an in-game currency to use in a game store to buy/sell/trade items.

And I didnt even dive into a ton of other possibilities decentralized gaming offers, because everyone is free to educate himself about it and change his opinion
@@Simonb1471as an IT Sec expert, what do you think is easier to hack? A decentralized or a centralized system? Blockchain works with validators and they valide transactions within the system with other validators. So good luck hacking.
This guy does not understand anything about crypto, like at all. It has absolutely nothing to do with crypto at all. It's beta, it's not supposed to be perfect, it's testing. I get 60fps on an RTX2080 and a 15 year old i7-3930km which is really not too bad at all for a beta and will get better. It was hard work to watch the full 15 minutes of a guy talking about things he clearly knows zero about. He's rant about the marketplace economy is completely wrong. He used phrases like 80% of players think this. numbers he just made up, about subjects he doesn't understand. He talks about microtransactions, when the game does not have microtransactions. It's hard to put in concise words how misinformed this video is.
He lost money trading; he’s annoyed he’s gotta slave away content slaving TH-cam for money when crypto bros sit there and make money in 5 minutes he wishes he could make.

The point for optimization is fair, but it's in early access, so not fully released and not advertized anywhere it would be fully optimized.

Just my two cents. Only game I've been playing as of late, and i hope it succeeds. Even if there was no marketplace, if they fix optimization, i really am having a blast playing this game
