I was driving to a wholesale store. On my way down the entrance ramp, I noticed a lady slumped on the ground with her shopping cart on the pedestrian walkway.
She was crying in pain. I stopped and asked if she wanted me to call an ambulance. She said, with a face full of tears " *no, I can't afford that. I'll wait off the pain* ". I feel no remorse for that CEO.

My girlfriend passed away at 32 years old because of greedy health insurance companies. She spent most of her life as a type 1 diabetic due to pancreatic failure from an immune issue when she was a child. She spent years fighting against health insurance to get a continuous glucose monitor and pump to help with controlling her diabetes. Even with doctors basically yelling at her insurance that she needed these items, insurance said it was unnecessary. It wasn't until after her kidney's failed and she was at threat of losing her hands and feet that she was approved, and by then it was too late. Her doctor who I see as well for my care still says to this day that she would still be alive if she had the proper medical equipment she needed.

Ah if it was NHS apparently socialize healthcare fixed the problem and nobody is ever denied care in a system designed to ration care smh 🤦.
      Stupid comment
The wait times are so long in the UK and Canada people not only are denied care by their system others wait so long on a wait list that they also die on even if the care is approved.
And the healthcare here is heavily regulated and about 50% of it is socialized through Medicare, Medicaid and those who work in government.
But you know the politicians don’t have any blame due to regulations they pass right?

I’m a veteran of 14 yrs active duty. Served 3 tours in Iraq. Yet, my VA Claims get denied constantly. It’s the worst. I’ve fought almost 5 years for coverage from service connections. It shouldn’t be this hard to get care for Americans, especially those who served. We literally make up less than 2% of the population. But can’t afford to pay us, deny our claims AND got lawmakers trying to cut our payments based off what our SPOUSES MAKE/HOUSEHOLD. Look it up. The only way they notified me about the missed payment was via their proprietary app. Which I naturally never check.
Luckily for me, open enrollment was only a couple months away so I could re-apply for coverage but this was shocking to say the least! I would have been glad to have paid off the missed payment but I can’t fix what I’m not told about through reasonable means 😡

I have multiple health issues going on, at least one of which was caused by getting hit by a car. The rest are all chronic. Existence is pain. I cant do what I want or need to because my base level of pain is so high, and Im so fatigued.
If I made a list of 10 things I want/need to get done, most days Id get maybe 3-4. somedays Ill get 6, most 2.
My mind is totally fine, Im stuck with nerve pain, muscle spasms, my stomach always being in pain, chronic fatigue. not to mention other issues.
I would love to be functional enough to be able to try 110% to get a job. To be able to move out and use the skills I squired in school to better my own life.
But I get told by family that Im lazy. Even though Ive fought through the pain to even just go to school and pick up degrees, qualifications, knowledge.
Just to crash when I get home. Sometimes Ill do small jobs that most people would be totally ok after, and Im bedridden for days afterwards.

Back in 2017, after Harvey had devastated Houston, I was helping my in laws move some things so we could start ripping up the floor. I went out to my car to grab my work gloves and slipped and bent in the most awkward way humanely possible. I could feel popping and tearing in my left knee as I was going down to the ground.
It took me almost 8 months to see an orthopedic surgeon because my insurance wouldn’t let me see anyone because everyone in the city of Houston was out of network. After I kindly reminded them that they had to have one option in every major city, I finally got to see one.
At this point I had done X-rays but my bones weren’t the issue, I knew it was a ligament. I could barely walk without pain. I had to pay out of pocket for an MRI to hear that my MCL had torn, which I knew was the issue. The doctor told me he would do surgery but the insurance would never cover anything.
I didn’t have the surgery and still to this day I have pain and I lack the stability I had before the tear. The same company didn’t want to cover a hernia repair, which my doctor fought because of intestinal strangulation. I did get that one covered but it still cost me tens of thousands of dollars.
I absolutely despise the American health care system because of this.

I also don't like our healthcare system, but this isn't the way to fix it. I would understand indifference or celebrating what happened to the CEO if it was natural causes, but we should NOT be cheering for this bad actor taking matters into his own hands. We shouldn't bolster up someone like Luigi as if he's some kind of hero. Vigilante justice is bad, because it comes not from prinicple or rule of law, but rather from arbitrary morality that people decide either based on utilitarian ethics (the end justifies the means) or personal feelings. It's a dangerous precedent to set where people feel they can just do whatever they want as long as it's morally justified (according to their personal feelings). I don't cry for this CEO, and I despise our healthcare system, but even so, Luigi deserves no support and should go to prison.

We need universal healthcare so bad. I know there are some issues with it, but honestly I'd rather have the problems of wait times or whatever than mandatorily paying a middleman who practically does nothing. The reason healthcare is so expensive in the US is because of the insurance industry and its lobbying of the government.
Just look at what former CIA officer and author Phillip Agee said in 1995: CIA Officer explains why the U.S. destabilized Cuba: "Cuba has more doctors and more teachers per capita than any other country in the world... and it's all state-supported which means people don't have to put money out for medical care... It's a very bad example for the United States." You might be able to find a video of this interview that Africa Stream used to have before it was shut down by the US government, or I've heard that the archive of the show Alternative Views on TH-cam has the full interview.
Basically the system sucks and is killing people because it's profitable, and there are living examples of better systems that exist on a much more efficient and cheap basis. It's a choice made by big money that things are the way they are no matter how deadly and undemocratic it is. Things are coming to a breaking point, as we can see from the 2024 elections, Luigi, BRICS, and other great and small events and happenings. Something's gotta give.

Wait times are fine in a lot of countries with universal healthcare. Everyone just brings up Canada because it's a convenient argument they heard someone else say once upon a time. You aren't waiting that long in Japan, Finland, Iceland, Singapore, etc. Look at US health and longevity statistics, look at them in association with income. If you're rich in the US, you'll live a normal life expectancy, if you're poor, you will probably die younger than someone of equivalent wealth in Japan or Iceland. We let people die for money. The statistics prove it. There is no way around that truth. We can talk about how to solve it, there's multiple answers to that, but just like how you don't owe the fireman a bill for saving your house from burning down, I don't think you should owe the doctor a bill for keeping your heart pumping. Simple really.

I still experience chronic pain on a day-to-day basis, which can be crippling. No amount of money can bring back the feeling of being pain-free. In addition, I work as a first responder. Many of my 911 patients who need medical attention often deny care or are worried about medical bills when it comes to life-or-death scenarios. I’m not saying murder is right. However, the US needs to figure out its medical care. People should not have to risk their lives because they cannot afford life-saving measures.

Ofc it's a high deductible plan (because that's cheapest for his company so that their CEO can make more money isn't that funny how that works). Our old plan expired at the end of November, new plan doesn't start until January. So the company gets us a interim 1 month plan...THAT STILL HAS AN ANNUAL DEDUCTIBLE OF 10K. So basically we have no insurance for the month of December unless we pay 10k out of pocket. My dad's coworker is in the ICU and will have to pay out of pocket for an ICU stay, that could cripple them financially and they'll have a brand new deductible to meet in January if he even survives.

Imagine being stuck taking drugs with bad side effects, or drugs that don't work at all, simply because your insurance decided they didn't want to pay 20-30% more for the right drug. Also, in general, doctors, pharmacists, and insurance companies all drive prices up to make money, but the insurance company is the one that is constantly coming out of my paycheck regardless of whether I need the care or not. Because of that, they should be the most willing to help me get the care I need, and that's never the case, which is why I sympathize with them the least.

Racked with the loss of my dad, my mom couldn't even fight it. I will tell you the money would've been nice, cause cancer treatments aren't cheap. And that debt doesn't just go away cause they couldn't save him.

I've had neuropathy for 5 years. My entire right arm is numb all the time, and the only feeling I have in it is pain. At first my insurance was cool with some tests, got an mri on my arm and shoulder that came back fine, well for years my doctor and I fought to get an mri on my back and they denied it. I had to go to physical therapy, which made it worse, then a neurologist, and 2 different orthopedic doctors over 4 years to finally get the spine MRI approved. Turns out it's 3 discs in my upper back that are herniated. Now my only options are live with it or surgery. But the orthopedic surgeon even said with that long it's likely the nerves are already dead and the surgery won't fix it so he recommended to not do it unless things get worse or it starts going down into my lower back. So because of their hoops, I now have to live with this forever and hope it doesn't spread down my spine.

My ADHD medication costs nearly 1500 a month, I'm forced to work a self employed gig job because if I went to a W2 job I'd lose state insurance and I'd have to pay minimum 1400 a month for medication

I hope this helps us in the UK understand and appreciate how good we have it with the NHS, and why we cannot let it continue to be critically underfunded and risk losing it. We can't even imagine what it's like for those in the US having to face these issues, it's 'bad enough' as it is with the NHS but what the US experiences is a whole new level. I fully understand and appreciate the actions taken to end the life of a psychopath who killed millions, and would have continued to kill millions

For the past 3 years I’ve been jumping through hoops trying to get some relief for my spine issues my spine didn’t develop it’s discs right, I’ve been through 2 rounds of physical therapy 2 mris 5 x rays spinal injections. I make an appointment with a doc who sends me to a different doctor who sends me to some kind of test or procedure that don’t help so I get sent to another doc and start the process over again.

My dental insurance decided I didn’t need anesthesia for a tooth pull so I had to pay for it out of pocket. I’d like whoever made that decision to get a tooth pulled without any drugs, fully awake. See if they change the policy.

Hey Driftor. I appreciate you making this video, and your honesty within it.
I have been fortunate to have only minor health concerns in my 27 years of life, and have never had to deal with the crushing reality of the "Healthcare" industry personally in my life...yet. However, I have been raised to believe in common decency, and empathy. I say this just to highlight to you that even as someone who has never personally dealt with the horror of healthcare, that I still want to advocate for support for change. There is no excuse for the U.S to have the system that it does, and profiting off the suffering of others in inherently immoral. The media has been skirting around and avoiding talking about this elephant in the room, but I am extremely glad that Luigi has brought it to the public consciousness. We need change immediately.
I do worry about this next White House administration though. I'm sure they will be doing everything in their power to make sure this change does not happen any time soon.
