    People talking about refresh rate it's a creator laptop! Color accuracy is way more important. Look at any premium monitor with high color accuracy and it's 60hz. If you want high refresh buy a gaming laptop.

    I agree with Andrew that the only thing holding back the Asus ProArt P16 laptop is the lack of a higher refresh rate but if that is not a concern for you, it's a perfect device for the content creator. The webcam and internal mic quality are clear and it has a gorgeous 4K OLED display but the ROG Zephyrus G16 has more oomph, however it is more expensive. The battery life is fairly decent but I would assume that for the content creator, this will be hooked up to AC power so the battery life won't be much of a concern. The audio quality of the built in 6 speakers is immersive and loud! It's not a perfect laptop by any means but it will get the work done at the end of the day and that's what's important! Excellent review Andrew as always!! 👍😁

      Many people don't understand that each person perceives the refresh rates differently. I don't see a difference when I switch between 60hz and ProMotion (120hz) on my Macbook Pro 14.

    Nice pc. Camera and mics and speakers are good. Port selection is good. Battery life not surprising and is good. One thing to remember as a general rule is when these units come with higher wattage power bricks they are going to use more power and as a result when running on battery will drain battery faster and as a result shorter run times. Great review.

    I think you should always compare the speakers of any device to a comparable macbook pro/air because they are esentially the gold standard and it can tell us how good the speakers really are. Anyways, great video as always!

    Where I live the Yoga Pro 9 with a 4070,64GB of RAM and 1TB SSD costs the equivalent of 550$ less than the same specced ProArt. I'm a programmer so I don't really need the color accurate display, and 60hz genuinely gives me eye-strain, so I don't know if going with the ProArt is worth it for me. Which keyboard do you prefer out of the two and do you think the ProArt is worth the 550$ price premium?

    I produce music on Linux and it's been so difficult searching for a 16' laptop with good upward-facing speakers, but then I looked at the price tag... it's kinda hard picking this one when it's priced like a MacBook Pro (which I wouldn't buy, since I'm a Linux user), but then again, 2 NVMe SSDs is massive! The Zephyrus G16 is also great, but again, very limited expandability.

    So close, the deal breaker for me is the fact that only one USBC port is 40gbs while on the 13 inch version both are USBC40gbs. Not sure why this is, the previous version of the 16 had dual thunderbolt so strange they did this.

  • @0TheoreticalPhysics0
    @0TheoreticalPhysics0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Has there been some major bios update to the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i affecting battery life? The numbers indicated in the comparison in this video makes it seem as if its battery is decent, but other tests performed on it such as UL benchmarks found it to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of battery, like 5 hours in testing which translate to probably 2 hours of real life use (multiple tabs, higher brightness, minor multitasking).Which to be fair is unsurprising given the miniLED display and high powered components, though one might also think the new core ultra processor would offset that a bit, as we've seen in many other newer laptops. If the numbers here are just skewed by test parameters as in so many other battery tests, then one would surely conclude that the P16's battery is complete dogshit?

  • @piperfect

    As a creator I would wish for a bigger surface pro 11 (14-16", 3:2) with Wacom pen tech instead of the bad Microsoft protocol and an efficient AMD (370) inside. Too many compatibility issues and the performance is too bad with the ARM.
    That would be perfect.
    But there is nothing close to that out there. Don't need a dGPU, can't work on a laptop touchscreen. Couldn't care less about the SD card connectivity. AMDs new IGPUs are enough when cooled sufficiently.
    And don't say iPad, I can't even do half the stuff I need to do on that and the other half I can only do with workarounds. iOS = BS for real life creators. Not everyone just uses TH-cam.
    Also I don't mind if the device would be thicker. And jeez I don't care a second about battery life. If you are producing stuff you are on power all the time.

    I was thinking of the new Zenbook S16 with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (same processor) and 32GB RAM and (unfortunately) 1TB SSD. I wonder how the benchmarks would compare. I was hoping for a comparison with the S16. Intended use - photoshop, lightroom, premiere (but no gaming and no 3d, no big need for a powerful gpu). Is it worth paying 30% more for the Studiobook which is heavier, thicker, less battery life, 60Hz screen in my case? I'm just wondering how the same Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 would compare in these two models (probably the Ryzen in the Studiobook drains more wattage than in the S16 so should be faster). Can anyone offer advice? Thanks!

      The 34-watt ("Max fan") limits in the S16 hurt performance A LOT. Zenbook S16 has TINY fans! The P16 and my new vivobook ordered tonight can cool 54w!

    • @nth_to_see_here
      @nth_to_see_here 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@dgillies5420 It makes sense what you are saying but on the other hand I'm watching reviews where (like in this review) the P16 top area gets to about 51 degrees C hot, and all other reviews on the S16 show this area at around 35-40 degrees under stress. Each review I have seen show the Studiobook getting hotter under stress. Maybe because these are very new laptops still many of the reviews are sponsored. I'm also reading that the speed of the 28W Ryzen AI 9 in the S16 is about 85-90% of the 54W version in the P16. Although taking half the power in the S16, it's not like it has half the speed. The growth isn't linear. But I'm not an expert on this. Just gathering info from different reviewers.

    Is a great laptop, but with a MAJOR issue, the whole thing flexes with very little pressure, build quality is not on par with specs, sadly build quality is really bad because Asus and other manufacturers keep pushing things to make laptops thiner lighter, and in the process break things. Hint Asus, you no longer need to make laptops thiner, they are already thin enough. Instead focus on build quality and usability as in keyboards.

    Thanks for the review. I have been divided on what to get, the Zenbook S 16 (higher spec) OR the ProArt P16 (lower spec).
    I would get the Zenbook S 16, but I wish it could push more wattage into the chip for better performance, especially considering the price. I love the look, the screen, and everything else about it.
    On the other hand, the ProArt P16 is only $200 CAD (I am in Canada) more, but it offers significantly better performance.
    What do you recommend, since you've tested both? I'll be using it for mild video and audio editing/mixing, color grading, some 3D modeling in Blender, and light gaming (I'm not much of a gamer-I mainly play games like Planet Coaster to relax). I also watch a lot of movies and shows and do homework (mostly film-related stuff hence the film editing and such).
    I do have a PC, so I can do some work on that if needed, but I just need something portable. Sometimes I just want to sit in bed and work rather than at my desk, you know.
    What do you recommend in my use case, I am a bit divided?

      If it's only 200 more go with the P16. It's pretty much the same footprint and less than 3/4of a pound heavier. Much more powerful laptop and will run cooler due to added thickness. Also, has better speakers and crisper display. The only advantage of the S16 is 120 htz display. I have the P16 it's an excellent machine. If you want real portability get the px 13. The S16 is overpriced at only 200 less than the P16.

Probably the one in the Studiobook getts more watts. I'm just interested how processor speed would differ. I'm fine with all other aspects of the S16 (non upgradeable ram, love the size and weight, 120Hz screen etc). Intended use: Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere (stuff heavier on processor and ram) no gaming, no 3d (no need for powerful gpu).

      @@nth_to_see_here Same here. my only issue is if I am paying $2200 Canadian for it, I don't want it to be blocked by wattage a lot. Since, from my understanding ASUS has a pretty good cooling solution. If it has 50 watt like the other laptops in the range, that would be so much of a better bargain because the CPU is not being weakened significantly. The IGPU 890M is good for my basic gaming needs since I just play 1 or 2 games. but for my other work, the artpro is so much of a better barging. In your case there is not real need for a DGPU, you can probably survive since the 890M is pretty good. But if the price difference is not a lot (I am assuming your in the US), you should go with the basic model for the Artpro in my opinion as well assuming the price jump is not that bad, or you can wait for black Friday, it might make the s 16 more reasonable.

    • @leonardwise5807
      @leonardwise5807 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Namibal204 The amount of wattage on the 370 on the P16 is much higher, so it performs better in the cpu test and also in internal graphics and obviously dgpu performance. It's like comparing a Mac book Air to a pro. The main difference is it keeps cooler despite all the power. I wound get it over the S16 since the price differential is not enough to justify it. The P16 is on another level in performance and much better speakers, and a 4k oled is very crisp.

    Which is the best windows laptop of 2024 for photo editing and 3d modeling ?

    Such laptop made for pro artists is very noisy under load why no vabor chamber used to reduce the heat and fan noise. Another point why only one 40GB port and it's weird that the screen only support 60fps, even for content creation you need 120fps and I would prefer mini led for this use case for better longevity since artests can use static apps not moving games on the screen 😢 Asus please think twice befor you consider this as proart one. Its not indeed.

    What 's the point of 4K on 16" display? Less refresh rate, more power to run ' re needed, less battety savings? So st pid, asus.

    Great review, as always. However, I am surprised this got only one point higher than the px13, for 200 dollars you get a 4060 better speakers a full sized sd card slot and a 16 inch screen at less than a pound heavier.. The value score at 7 should be raised to a 10. Let's take the 1899 9:33 32gig ram and 1 tb storage version vs Lenovo Pro 9i it is the same price but that laptop has an older processor no wifi 7 is a pound heavier and larger not as premium a build and inferior speakers lower single core and multicore .. Let's look at Mac Book Pro 16. The same specs 3099 dollars. Are you kidding me. This will outperform the pro not max version, not to mention better ports includes type A on the P16. While the refresh rate is lower, it is a 4k , and it is superior for creators.
    The other little known thing is how much better battery life it is on silent mode on this laptop. Which can be used for most workloads. Find me a cheaper creator laptop at these specs and performance for less at sticker. We know this eventuality will go on sale. Otherwise, your review is spot on. We don't even have to talk about the xps 16 price close to 3000.

    No numpad, no 120hz, short sdcard slot, no thunderbolt support (what mean no egpu - pcie over usb4). It makes this proart 16 biggest failure of asus in 2024.

      numpad in 16incher is so much stupid, offcenters the keyboard, no space for speakers, etc. this has USB4 support, so it indeed supports eGPU... USB4 is technically thunderbolt3 backward compatible and ryzen is compatible with external GPUs so...
      only issue is 120Hz, but refresh rate like 120Hz to 60hz difference is very minimal in big screen. it takes screen size like a phone to tell bigger difference. so i'll always take crystal clear, precisely color calibrated, glossy 4k monitor over anything.

    First time im sold on a windows laptop over a macbook pro 16.
    Although it is purely down to the price diff.
    Than again m4pro NOT MAX will massively outclass this CPU and have roughly 4070M GPU grunt ->
    But at what price point, 2999?
    They just nailed it with the ai370hx
