Not Catholic pulpits when it comes to the abortion issue.

When Roman Catholics use the expression "the culture of death," they refer specifically, in the words of Pope John Paul II, abortion. Perhaps Prof. Wright intended to "obliquely" refer to that international crisis. Hopefully. And not merely the death penalty in the U.S. Re comment made at approximately the 4 minute mark.

Part 1 is up and running--I just opened it. There is a 4:30 bit about Perkins before the introductions and then Wright starts his presentation. Guess there were glitches.

I really enjoy and appreciate NT Wright. But, we as Christians are called to be 'in the world, but not of the world'. Therefore we do not get messy with the ridiculous mental wrangling of the world with such ideas as 'gender biases'; God is too big for that. And I have never, ever heard any biblical teacher or theologian suggest that the Holy Spirit is 'female' and for Mr Wright to insert that falsehood into our doctrine took him down a peg to me. We as Christians do not and should not placate the world in order to woo them into the Faith. The next downward peg is his rendition of hell. For Mr. Wright to claim that Hell is a sliver of reality. I vastly disagree. Jesus spoke on Hell numerous times as a place that was not meant for mankind but would accommodate those who deny Him and work vigorously to get there by doing things they know in their hearts is not right.

Kay, His theology, as a professor, is Anglican/leaning towards Catholic. It differs from fundamental Evangelicalism.
It has been said by some professors that gender issues are identity issues and relate to psychological matters or early childhod trauma. Or merely influencesmd by a secularcagenda. It would be better for the church to come to grips with underlying issues of child abuse and neglect rather than attack people for their symptoms. Or simply leave the complex topics to Christian tgerapists.
