- Stucco Same Day, Both Coats. One coat stucco.
Traditional stucco over polystyrene.
Stucco applications.
Folks this is a typical stucco system applied over polystyrene, it's sort of like the Dry-Vit and or Stow stucco system except on steroids.
With normal polystyrene boards. We usually apply a fiberglass mesh, then an eighth of Poly bond which holds the Fiberglass mesh on. Then we allow that to set usually a week or two and simply color coat it.
If folks wish to have any stucco system used, we oblige them, if I feel that system is and will be functional. To add an inch of any same day stucco, is a no brainer in regards to the fact that naturally it will be stronger, thus I accepted his method as an expert applicator.
To view the video of the lath system we used click here.
Stucco systems styrofoam to traditional, • Stucco over Styrofoam ...
I do explain, the double coat system in another video that we did prior to this one, if interested in the method, please click here.
Folks, for immediate bids, send pictures to me or Jason.

A fun fact for me is that our family and I have unconsciously created and contributed the most comprehensive encyclopedia of Stucco and Plastering videos ever produced online globally for your inspiration, entertainment, and education.
We show our work because we are honest, confident, and transparent. We have nothing to hide; we know what we are doing. If I had to say where we were schooled, it's closest to, say, the University of Morals, which means if it's not done right, you go back for free and do it again, but this time correctly.
Thus, all can depend on us for sound advice and workmanship.

Dear Kirk,,You are my go to,,and I've never done stucco..yet,,plenty of plaster,,I want to do a bottle/sparkle dash on my new 1900 shack!! There's LOTS of broken glass and pebbles on the property,,I send you a pic when I get into it! thank you for always sharing the wisdom
@@dog_biter Evening my fellow plasterer, there’s a big difference in broken glass to smooth glass, if you use broken glass it will spread your sponge floats when you try and bring it to the surface, worse yet, if you can bring it to the surface it will cut and hurt anyone who happens to lean on it. Stick with abalone shells or pretty smooth glass. A pebble dash finish is done for beauty not to be a dangerous fortress. 😉

I'm watching a La Habra color coat get put on a 20 unit building in CA by 2 guys that seem like hacks - no pressure washing of 15 yr old elastomeric paint, just a brush off w/broom, then full strength bonding agent, then trowel on with no stucco tape on windows, doors, etc. It's hard to watch Kirk!
@@davep6989 I’ve witnessed worse, my nature was and always is to help or educate, when I informed these fellas that applying watered down Potlrtland cement was not an effective bonding agent over painted stucco, they said piss off. I felt like Rocky in the first movie, when he tells the girl, you hang out with losers you get loser friends, at the end she says, hey Rocky, flips him off and says, screw you. 😉
@StuccoPlastering - thanks, they are rolling on a bonding agent full strength but it's over chalky dusty paint. Also, didn't you usually dilute your blue bonding agent when you were putting on a 1/8" color coat?
@@davep6989 There is no bonding agent that will be effective if painted on a dirty surface. Their finish will separate within a year to five, if what you say is true. Then the lawyers will blame the company that makes the bonding agent. Such is life.
@StuccoPlastering - I went back and watched your "Stucco and Bonding Agents" video from 8 yrs ago - very informative! Also found out LaHabra doesn't even recommend applying their color coat products over painted surfaces so you definitely have to know what you're doing. Thank you!
@@davep6989 No they don’t as the world has always been a place full of greed and lies, they have to protect thier products and more importantly their time to respond to the thousands of lawsuits they will get worldwide from folks who wish to blame others for their lack of knowledge. It’s a vicious world. 🤔

Is it better to use waterproof coating on plywood and then glue the insulation or use stucco wrap and nail the insulation?
@@rafirk7968 Morning, what your asking is can one paint plywood then stick insulation boards on that painted surface. No, that will last 6 months to possible two years, but all will fail eventually. You can attach a water proof barrier or skin, now you can attach the insulating board. Now you have to figure out what cladding of finish you want over this fragile insulating board. Options are many, best wishes. 😉
@@StuccoPlasteringcurrently I have Tyvek stucco wrap over the CDX. Do I need second layer of moisture barrier like asphalt felt?
@@rafirk7968 Codes in California call for two layers, that can even be two layers of tyvek. But two layers are necessary. The foam we applied two layers over also had Tyvek house wrap in some areas. Talk about overkill, but overbuilt never got a fella in trouble. 😉
