Hello Ryandaylight: Awesome EMD!!! How many would give up their left testicle to do what these 2 lucky dogs get to do? Coming to work in the morning & get to tour around the countryside taking in the scenery in 1 of these.
Definitely not normal. It's a 50 ton uniflow 2 stroke turbodiesel with a single cylinder displacement of 710 cubic inches. That's more than two 5.0L V8 engines per cylinder. Nearly 4000 horsepower. These engines are crazy and sound insane :D
I'd be curious to know this too. It sounded like it got to about 160-170rpm there, I wouldnt think it can go far below since it's so slow at that point
I mean no offence to Americans, but why are your trains so god damned ugly today. I don't get it, you built some of the most beautiful engines ever created for 100+ years then seemingly got to 1960 and went "f**k it, build a brick"
We got the best-lookin' shit in the world, bud. Trucks, trains, planes...everything. Don't be a hater. Pete 379s, W900 KDubs; Big Boys, P-51s, P-47s, P-40s, B-17s, B-24s, C-130s, F-18s, F-15s, B-29s. I don't care where you came from - our shit's tough as fuck, and looks badass doin' it. You're definitely entitled to your own opinion. But I'm entitled to mine, and I don't need to know what country your junk comes from to know I don't want to look at it as I wait at grade crossings.
there is something so powerful about the sound of a train engine
Maybe because it IS very powerful
I love laying in bed at night and listening to them go by

16 cylinders, 710 cubic inches each. 3800hp @ 900 RPM. Reliable.
Yep. An EMD 16-710
Thats one really mean sounding startup of a 2-cycle turbo diesel.

BluntForceTrauma666 Elegant start up

Love these videos. 👍🏻
This Union Pacific GP60 is sweet!!
So shiny, so clean
Great sounding 710.
I want one in my bedroom.

That's what semi trucks should sound like in the future

Hello Ryandaylight:
Awesome EMD!!!
How many would give up their left testicle to do what these 2 lucky dogs get to do?
Coming to work in the morning & get to tour around the countryside taking in the scenery in 1 of these.
It's not that easy..
More like coming in at 2:00 AM or whatever other time they call and tell you to be there.
Believe me you do not want to work for Union Pacific
I would never give my testicle for my job... its a job
the beast awakes
Very nice 👍👍👍
I want to put this engine on my Land Cruiser.
Very good
Nice Video!!
This Locomotive is sounds like emd wdp 4 of Indian Railways
It sounds somewhat similar to our Indian WDP4 made by EMD.
I expected it to be like a normal car starting up

awesome
Nice!!
Sweet!
God she is beautiful
What's her model.
GP60
Yep thats a beautiful female train
Cool sound
I wonder what the minimum rpm is before the engine stalls
I'd be curious to know this too. It sounded like it got to about 160-170rpm there, I wouldnt think it can go far below since it's so slow at that point
I am not sure that was the first time i have been to Roseville
Please watch start up CC 205 EMD
Like a indian railways wdp 4 locomotive
0:42 sounds like ISL9 with a Allison B400R or a ISC with a Allison B400R but at 0:52 sounds more like a DDS50EGR with a Allison B500R6
NOT like either of those engines you bus nerd
Wow thanks for the insult 👍
nice.

Well,if it hasn't been started up in a while then, yea, but that is an old engine
Great engine!!!
6000ps???
Wiki says that 3800 hp
Thank you very much !!
Wuih ini kereta apa bukan ya suaranya
That's prob EFI For ya
🌐🌐
Does it have trouble startin up?
It was probably cold. Diesel engines of this size and larger do not use glow plugs to assist at startup.
Is it EFI or the governed ?
It is governed. It was built about 5 years before EMD began using common rail EFI.
I guess nobody cares about the shiny paint...
