yea our freight is vastly superior to other countries. while our passenger service suck it could be worst. hopefully we will see a rise in passenger service because i hate planes and sometimes i dont wanna drive
That 159 pound american hardened steel rail taking a critical beating if you just imagine several thousands of tons slapping the welds at 70 mph I love it
I was wondering how it was determined that this train was (supposedly) running at 70 mph? Did the videographer use a speed gun? Or assumed the train was running at the track speed of 70 mph? A quick rough calculation at 73'2" per locomotive, four locomotives passing in about 3(-) seconds; I get around 66.5mph.

A lot of people hate on American passenger rail, but our freight trains are pretty awesome.
Freight is sure awesome especially tanker trains since it's one of my favorite unit trains

Freight has priority over passenger service in US.
Every one home sleeping while this train is kicking ass.
Nice catch! I love those flying Z trains. Michael S.

I watch this stream almost every night !
I get 64.2 mph from 4 locomotives of length 73.6 ft passing in 12.52 seconds at 1/4 speed playback

There's an angle between the direction of the train and the camera that has to be accounted for.
The angle doesn't matter, it's just a coupler to coupler timing to the same spot.
Nice. Thank you.
