Dang, usually these long play channels are not too great at games, since they focus more on broadly playing lots of games instead of specializing in a few, but you went right for the jugular here. Completed the game in 3 hours, getting a king vulture mask in the first few minutes. Great job.

Definitely a huge increase in difficulty over the Survivor. It took many failed attempts to get this one. I do think this is the easiest route, if you get the bird mask that is. I found going back through Shaded Citadel to be easier than going through Garbage Wastes.
It seems the creatures, especially the lizards, are scared of the bird mask. In most cases they will run away so that gets rid of a lot of the enemies that might attack. It doesn't always work if you get too close and they figure out you aren't actually a bird. It also doesn't work for the blind lizards going by sound only. Many other enemies don't seem to really be discouraged by it, but it helps enough to make it a bit easier. The downside is the removal of one hand to hold things while you carry it.

Just ascended as a Hunter. Used your route, it's pretty good, so thanks for that. Although I did encounter daddy long legs in Five Pebbles section, but luckily, I was able to avoid them. Man, the beginning is so rough, but if you made it to The Wall it's a lot easier from there because you dont really need high karma anymore (for echoes and nearest gates), so it leaves room for some mistakes (and also you are past hardest platformer challenge). I also in the beginning took vulture's mask (not the king one though), but at the wall cyan lizard dropped on my head, I fell, dropped the mask and it went into abyss. I was able to recover, but mask was lost, which is kinda bad but I didn't wanna restart cycle so I just rolled with it, was pretty funny how it happened. Anyway, great video, helped me a lot!
Thanks so much, while I changed my route a bit in the end so I can get an extra 2 echos I missed early on I couldn’t have beaten it without your help and I got a score of close to 1K (it would have been higher if I didn’t use a karma exploit which forced me to quit a lot)
I got to 54:31 but there is no pole there where to can get extra height to get to Five Pebbles. If it's a glitch, it sucks because this would've been somewhat the first time I play as The Hunter only to discover I can't reach a stupid pipe.
I don't think it's a glitch, but is super annoying to have to bring two spears to get up to the pipe, and sticking one vertically in the right spot takes a little practice too. The other way is to bring one of the flying bugs with you up the wall, but that has it's pros and cons also.
@@longplaytv4402 I actually tried bringing a White squicada with me for that! I was about halfway but the problem is the WHITE LIZARDS. And on occasion, or if it's for a specific spot, a King Vulture comes swooping in. So yes, it's a hassle. It's annoyingly stupid to do that one specific trick bc it ruins the flow of the gameplay and feels like a backslap. Kind of made me not want to continue playing that mode but gosh, I was having fun. Hopefully Downpour will lift my spirits :)
Discovering a lot of hidden paths here. Didn't know there was another way up to that shelter in Sky Islands! I thought that side tunnel was just a dead end. I always used a squidcada to head up from the center.
Ik this is very recent but after a failed hunter play through you can see “Hunter Long Legs”, maybe the tendrils after death were the beginning of this and something found hunter’s body after it floated back up. Idk, my thoughts on it, idk if its cannon or not
Im here because i cant imagine how anyone could ever do this in 20 cycles. I used remix option to give me 100 It took me 22 just to get to chimney canopy.
I didnt get neuron glow during five pebbles, so during shaded citadel, it was so dark it was almost impossible to see anything. when you return, its even harder to see, and you have to buy a lantern from the scavenger. i also died like 15 times im shaded lol
I used the map to sort of cheat it my first time getting lost in the dark. It kind of worked, but still super painful! The spiders in the dark too! ugh!

I love this longplay video, but there is something really bugging me, I see the Hunter got no bioluminescence before entering Five Pebbles chamber for the first time, then got it after exiting the chamber. Is it a feature or a clever cut there, cuz I can't find any info about that on the wiki. Again, thank you for the amazing video.
It's a feature, when you eat the neuron fly, the small floaty creatures in the Five Pebbles area, you get that illumination effect for the remainder of the game.

If you take too long to try to get to the end(20 cycles) Hunter will get seizures, move slower and is basically weak at this point, dying is the end of the run
As the others mentioned, that is basically the story. When the hunter meets with Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon, they mention that the hunter doesn't have much time, so whether you make it to the end or not, it seems there's no way to avoid death. If you follow the Survivor's story though, you'll see the hunter's efforts may have been worth the struggle.
Different difficulty levels and playstyles. The survivor is standard- fight, forage, and survive. Monk prompts cooperation over battle- you can befriend the creatures you meet, far easier than other types. The hunter, on the other hand, is all about the conflict- their main source of food is flesh, with lots of fighting as a result. There are also some story differences- Monk skips most of the deeper lore, Survivor is (again) standard, while Hunter gets an opportunity to better befriend the AI...I think, it's a little fuzzy at this point.
In addition to what other have said regarding difficulty, the Hunter storyline happens first. An unmentioned AI sends the Hunter with a neuron fly to repair Moon (the dead AI). The Survivor's storyline comes next: a slugcat is separated from its family during a flooding and it needs to survive and explore in the world, finally reaching the depths where he meets other slugcats that went there to "ascend". Finally, the Monk storyline comes last. The Monk is one of the youger siblings of the Survivor, and is out to search for its missing sibling. In the end, it also goes to the Depths where it meets its missing sibling.
I've seen that in another video, but never myself. I always get boosted to max karma right at the end... I'm not sure why or if that can be avoided honestly.

I was considering going straight from shoreline to subterranean after getting moon, but I don't see other people taking that route. Is it just uncommon or is there a good reason for it? i.e. difficult enemies
That route would include the segment of Subterranean where you have to get past a long corridor of Miros birds, but that would be the hard part I think. It would skip all of Garbage Wastes and possibly Drainage System depending on how far you go into Subterranean, so yeah, could be worth it. The bottom part of Shoreline to get to that gate is a pain too with the swimming, but not impossible.

It's a different storyline... the Hunter has lived in this world and just starts the story in a different location. The Survivor falls into the world in a different spot and is unfamiliar with it. There's probably better explanations out there, but that's basically it.

Hello, what I will say is a spoiler for the hunter but I have a question, if you die permanently with the hunter but you delete the game and hand over the neuron and promote him, why do I find him with the glutton if I promoted him? It seriously hurts me a lot to see it. So I would like someone to help me with this. Thank you for reading.

I'll probably get this kinda wrong, but the Hunter actually counts down as they have a limited life. It kind of comes out in the discussions with Five Pebbles and Moon, but basically the Hunter is dying and has to move quickly to reach the end. The survivor isn't limited on cycles so counts up from zero.
why did you go through memory crypts if you already had max karma? edit: sorry i didnt realize you went to shaded citadel, its called the leg in the video shortcut thing

Tried to do this pathing, after some random bullshit that the games throws at you (in a positive manner), I got the 5P experience of being eaten by Pebbies random goop shit in his brain, probably just unlucky that the fucker was directly in my way doing no sound that would overwhelm the music. I guess I should just go back the wall and run trough the Underhang
@@syst3mwolf yes but Hunter (the red cat) had been part of the game for years. You can play Hunter once you beat Survivor (white cat). You might be able to unlock Hunter by beating Monk (yellow cat) but I'm not sure.
can you go straight from shoreline to subterranean without dlc. All the maps i find on google are different and i dont think my 10 cycles are enough to go your route
I don't think I've ever done it, but I have an old map I downloaded years ago that shows a path from Subterranean, at the lowest left point that goes to subterranean at the far right of that map on the train tracks. Looks like it could be possible.
Trying to fight all the creatures takes a ton of time, if you can just avoid them after you get enough food and that can save a lot of time. If you get the vulture mask, getting by all the lizards is much easier, so that saves lots of time too!

There's even higher karma than that... you can keep going to get it higher to be able to finish.

The latest update added "easy" and "hard" mode characters. This is for the Hard mode, the Hunter.

@@syst3mwolf yes but Hunter (the red cat) had been part of the game for years. You can play Hunter once you beat Survivor (white cat). You might be able to unlock Hunter by beating Monk (yellow cat) but I'm not sure.

can you go straight from shoreline to subterranean without dlc. All the maps i find on google are different and i dont think my 10 cycles are enough to go your route
I don't think I've ever done it, but I have an old map I downloaded years ago that shows a path from Subterranean, at the lowest left point that goes to subterranean at the far right of that map on the train tracks. Looks like it could be possible.
Why did it start on cycle 19-
On the hunter path, the cycles actually count down... the hunter has limited time to live.

Anyways do you have any tips to dave time on cycles during hunter?
Trying to fight all the creatures takes a ton of time, if you can just avoid them after you get enough food and that can save a lot of time. If you get the vulture mask, getting by all the lizards is much easier, so that saves lots of time too!

It is part of the quest, but you don't need it to finish the quest. There's unique dialogue tied to it though.
