Best sounding exhaust for a Ford Ranger 3.0, sounds (almost) like a v8.

- 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0 v6. Not exactly straight piped but I’ve got the stock cats it’s true dueled, has an x-pipe (better flow) and 3 1/2 in. tips.
Any questions, I will try and answer the best I can.

Yeah it's easy to make a V6 exhaust sound V8-ish at idle. It's when you're driving around that the V6-ness comes through.
yup, especially at around 2300+ rpm, but the vulcan 3.0 always had such a unique and almost deeper tone to it, love it
True, if it were cammed and had unequal headers it would for sure sound like a V8
I have an 2002 4.0 I want to make it sound better, but I don't know anything about exhaust
Yeah the sound changes when the motor is in gear bc it's taking more effort to spin the motors internals
I actually like that like it sounds mean at idle but then you hear that rowdy little v6 (while passing them)
The 3.0L always sounded great as far as V6's go. They are painfully gutless though. I've never heard a 4.0L that sounded as good as a piped 3.0L, but the 4.0L has a lot more torque.
I call my 03 Edge the Gutless Wonder
Mine will fry the tires all day but yeah speed wise I lost to a fuckin 2.5 s10 (mines also running like shit)
My 3.0 gets up and goes pretty nice and hauls trailers of junk no problem.
You might like the sounf of my 4.0l, I've got un equal length headers followed by a 3 inch header back, high flow cat and then a single in dual out muffler to 4 inch tips.
@@benbelk3767do you have videos of the truck? i’d be interested in hearing what UEL headers sound like on a ranger haha
That is a clean clean clean ranger
thank you, only 87k miles

I am shocked that sounds awesome!
To me bro that’s sounds like a beast and I love it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
appreciate it!
Sounds real nice!
impressive😮😮❤❤
That is cool
I love my silent exhaust
Ya, the exhaust in this video sounds bad.
Do you have a link to all the parts you have on the ranger?
Where did you get those headlight covers
Nice Ranger. Can you film a drive by with it?
soon possibly
I know the video is older but do you have any videos of it driving or at higher RPM? I have the same engine and was thinking about doing this to mine
i sadly do not own the ranger anymore, i now have a 2v mustang! but from my experience with it, the drone was pretty rough, especially going down the highway. but around town its not bad
Nice where did you get them from
Got an 06 for 7 years now runs like a new truck still but I do keep up with maintenance
Recently got an 06, any advice to make it last as long as possible?
@@dude5399 do all maintenance before the manufacturer intervals and rangers will go forever
What's maintenance lol
@@thatkidintheranger9014 You tell us. You drive a Ford.
What did you do, where I can buy the pieces to make it sound like this ?
Mannnnnn thats a nice looking truck ....where you get them head lights from ... are can you send me a link for them

Where did you get the parts for the exhaust and what is the price
the muffler shop i went to had everything for me and handled it perfectly, price of mine was around $280
What headlights are you running man?
What the exact name for the exhaust build so I can ask for it at Stoney’s muffler???
True dueled, straight piped, x pipe in the middle and ran out into dual exhaust with 3 1/2 in. tips. i’d suggest getting 4 inch tips though.
keep the catalytic converters on so you don’t throw a code.
Would you ever post a guide on how to do this?
Did you use a x pipe up front to get duals coming out of the catalytic converters?
i didn’t need an x pipe up front, the 3.0 is true dueled from the factory, so it was dueled into the x pipe in the middle. I meant to say it’s true dueled in the video
Where did you get your bumper?
It sounds like a speed boat.
Where did you get your head lights?
Have a 2003 Ford Ranger Thunderbolt. 4.0 slp 300hp but it shut off at 90mph. Anyway cats were stolen, cut off right where they connect off the manifolds and the Y. Should I make it duals off the manifolds or just put the 2ft section back like it was. I'm leaning toward duals front to back.
that would be extremely loud with no cats lol, but screw it, do it, lol
Lmao it sounds better w full exaust, I have no muffler no cats and it sounds good but jus doesn't get as hight of a pitch, ur set up sounds great
how do you pass inspection lol
@@jacobethridge400 in my state... Michigan.. atleast in my town u don't need to get an inspection, if u have title u can jus get insurance and reg, no inspection needed, but cops will give u a fix it ticket for exaust if u get pulled over..well if the cops a hard on ull get one but yeah, inspection isn't I thing at my dmv
How did you make it into a dual?
What size and length of your straight pipes, same for the x and y pipe
not quite sure honestly, the straight pipes id assume are 2.25 or 2.5 and i’d think maybe the x pipe is 2.5
I have a 2005 4.0 sohc ranger and I need a new exhaust I want something deep and pretty aggressive would the x-pipe be a good fit or would it clap to much?
mine claps at about 3,000 rpm, but i had the x pipe put on just for better flow too see if i can get just a bit of a performance boost
That is nice sounds how many miles this truck has
88k miles
you still have cats?
This sounds exactly like my Chevy 5.3L and it’s straight piped
Cap, I own a 3.0 ranger and a 01 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3 and their 2 way different sounds , V6 vs V8 sound a lot different, quit the cap
Lmao I think your deaf
I have a 5.3 and a ranger and trust me the 5.3 sounds way deeper and jus sounds like a V8 Bec it is one lmao they don't sound close to the same, a v6 sounds like a v6 and V8 sounds like a V8 , two different things buddy
@@thatkidintheranger9014 emphasized the *kid* in your username. You don’t agree with someone so your first reaction is to insult them and call them deaf. That was unnecessary
@@derbyjr ha lol sorry I've owned multiple 1500s w the 5.3L vortec, and I've owned multiple rangers both my favorite trucks, they both have 2 way different sounds, jus sayin , calm ur tits bud holey fuck eh
Is it single into duel right at the y-pipe? Or is each bank completely separate?
my 3.0 was true dueled from the factory, so it went from straight from the cats into the x-pipe
What grill is that??
can i get a link for the exhaust?
Are you able to run a side exit with this type of system??
i would think so
Sounds like an inboard boat engine
hey what kind of exhaust is that.
Cat back or cherry bomb?
Where can I get one
What kind of headlights do you have on it?

Do you have any links for what you used for the exhaust?
didnt really use anything, took it to a muffler shop and they provided me the X pipe and everything else was just piping
@@jacobethridge400 oh OK cool. Thanks!
Sounds nothing like a v8 . But does not sound bad
Hello , can you let me know the model number so I can get it
What exhaust is that
Get the long tube headers from the vans I’m not 100% sure
Can you pass Texas emissions with that set up?
i did, yes
does it still have the resonators?
it’s straight piped, but still got the cats, but no i don’t have the resonators
how much it cost you to get that done?
bout 300
What's the decibal rating on it?
i honestly don’t know i’d say 115-120
could u put the link to the stuff to convert it please
i don’t exactly have anything to link, the muffler shop had x pipes in stock and the tips and regular piping
Do you have stock headers
yes
What wheels you got on it?
mamba m17’s
How loud is it irl? Is it annoyingly loud?
it got annoying highway driving after a while, but around town i liked it. I'd suggest finding a muffler that would still keep the tone you get like in this video
Would this work for a 98 ford ranger
depends if you have the 3.0
