    Your video was well done and helped me save an estimated $1000 fee from a carpenter to fix my upper kitchen cabinet that was pulling from the wall. The 1” and 2” bracket combined with GRK cabinet screws (8” x 3 1/8”) for drilling into the studs did the trick. You are a life saver! Thanks for the very helpful tip.

    Thank you SO MUCH for this video. Dad was a cabinet-maker. He passed away 2 years ago and right after, our kitchen cabinet started coming off the wall just like this one. I’ve climbed up there to see if I could figure out how to fix it, but no clue each time. BRACKETS! 🤯 Totally didn’t think of this.

    Thanks for posting. It's a shame everybody's cabinets are not built so well that we have this problem. I'm dealing with a similar issue on a rather deep cabinet over my refrigerator. I'm leery of using the top panel because I'm not convinced it's secured to the cabinet sides, so it might just pull away when the cabinet is loaded. I have an option to use the upper side of the cabinet just inside the door, and I'm thinking of using a combination of out of sight eye bolts on the studs a couple inches above the cabinet top, wire rope, and turnbuckle. Fingers crossed.

    Thanks for this. Viewed it right when I needed it!
    But…what are the walls made of that the cabinet is attached to? My walls
    are lime plaster (I’m guessing. Home is 110 years old) and there are no studs on the wall the cabinet is hanging on. The entire cabinet will fall if I remove the stack of books I put under it to hold it!
    I don’t know what to use as the screws from the backside of the cabinet directly into the plaster walls isn’t holding.
    Thanks in advance!

    I’m unsure of the inside upper cabinet bracket placement. I’m attaching a screw in the top, what is that securing? I can see the 1 inch on top of cabinet attaching to wall.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just reinforcement for the top bracket. (2 are better than 1!). The inside bracket goes into a wall stud and the top screw goes into the top of the cabinet. It helps if there is a ledger board on top of the cabinet for better hold. you may find a better location in your situation. You need to locate a stud though!

  • @CaelynOei
    @CaelynOei 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Mike! Thanks for the video! What did you end up doing as a solution to the sides?
    I have a cabinet with one side hanging 1/2" from the wall already and I think I'd like to add brackets like you've done. I'm also debating if I should take the whole thing down so I can put a few anchors in the drywall where there is obviously no stud to hold that side up- do you think that would help?

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Caelyn, I would try to repair the cabinet with it hanging on the wall. Removing the cabinet is a pain and could lead to additional problems. Try the brackets first. I think you'll find they will work great!

    I have an overhead microwave that is coming away from the cabinet and taking the bottom of the cabinet with it. Any ideas how to tepair?

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to say without looking at it, but the microwave hangs on a bracket on the wall and is also secured by a screw that is accessed by opening the cabinet door above it. You may not need to remove the microwave to secure the cabinet, but if you do, remove the screw in the cabinet (it's near the front opening) and the microwave will lift off of the bracket. Once to look at it, it may be that the cabinet is coming off of the wall, or maybe the bracket that holds the microwave.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  ปีที่แล้ว

      You also may just be able to tighten the screw I talked about earlier to close the gap between the top of the microwave and bottom of the cabinet.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could certainly use glue along with the fasteners to hold the cabinet together, but I wouldn't add adhesive between the cabinet and the wall.

  • @lvhomesales
    @lvhomesales 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I had the same issue. However, that corner bracket seems like a temporary solution. A 2X2 running along the length drilled into the stud and screwed a long the ply wood would be more of permanent solution and more secure. Just saying.

    My cabinet is coming apart from the wall but I don’t see a wood piece they used to hang it just caulking.. how can I fix this?

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure the caulking was just for aesthetics. There is lumber back there...do you have a stud sensor? If not you can use your knuckle and tap on the wall. When you don't hear the "hollow" sound you may have found a stud to drill into to reinforce the cabinet.

    • @ameeyahuncensored
      @ameeyahuncensored 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MikeKlimek I have a stud sensor do i just put a drywall screw threw the cabinet into the stud?

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ameeyahuncensored You could do that if you can get enough of the cabinet under the head of the screw. Maybe a better idea might be to use some "L" brackets like in the video and pull everything together.

    My cabinet goes to the ceiling. Is it ok to just screw the underside?

    • @MikeKlimek

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I understand, the back of the cabinet is still stuck to the wall, but the cabinet itself is pulling off? I would do just like the video shows and just pull the cabinet back to the wall and screw it in with some long screws and L brackets.

    • @windiramsey4425

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  ปีที่แล้ว +2
