In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Watcher. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity...

Seeing Baalord using "save and quit" for the first time tells more about his discipline of not using it for all the hours of gameplay I've watched.
Best intro yet, like that it gives you an idea of the play style to expect, and the curiosity to see it through
And also "does he win" is always a fun addition

Disagree. There's no emotion to it and it doesn't make me interested in the run. It was better when quotes from the run were used as intros.
Regarding bad upgrades, if you have Snecko Eye and Apotheosis/Armaments, then you don't want to upgrade powers that reduce in cost. The reason is if you upgrade them mid-combat, they will still lower their randomly rolled cost by 1.
I really loved the unlocks for Slay the Spire. It really does make deck building worse (more cards in the pool means less likely to get a coherent build) but it also means more options and synergies to play with.
Yeah I heard that speedrunners use a save file with only the first 2 watcher unlocks to make the blasphemy ragnarok strat more consistent by having a smaller rare pool

I really like the idea of posing the chance of a run failing at the start, makes a more intriguing watch
Brilliance. The definition of an overkill card. When dealing triple damage this card deals 10 more, 20 more, 30 more etc damage.
Also works when not in divinity though

This isn’t a negative critique, boys. The cards good. Hitting something for 300 damage isn’t a bad thing.
@@fatrickbateman9473 overkill kind of tends to have a...negative connotation to it. like, wasting a ton of damage on an enemy when there is cleanup to do. sort of like using bludgeon on a 10 hp enemy.
@@art-cs6us Overkill isn’t negative, just unnecessary. If you have mantra, you could probably win with a strike. If you don’t have mantra, you’d be better off with a carve reality. The card is good, it’ll one shot bosses. You’d probably already win that fight with any other attack card though.
Holy, that was pretty much a perfect Metamorphosis in the heart fight
Absolutely love that against heart you used wrath stance as a way of lowering enemy damage(as block from MF). dont see that every day
I enjoy watching these videos. Also, I recently got up to and cleared ascension 20 for the first time ever. I had watcher for an absolute god run with snecko eye as starting relic.

@kingjnc267 that's how I usually do it nowdayz although sometimes I make actual mistakes then cheat bu quitting lol
My first heart kill which was a20 though was a no quit and ironically it was also my first runic dome win, which was crazy cause I swapped for it on floor 0. So honestly one of my best runs ever lol and proof that I don't need to restart to make the game easier when it's at its hardest.
I've used mediation in wrath / calm combos several times but never thought to use mediation with a mantra divinity combo before. As soon as the 2nd Scrawl came, I had a feeling the run would go well.

im honestly astounded he didnt take apotheosis at the start. That seems like basically a guaranteed win on watcher, letting you agressively go for other mastery targets.
The golden colorless are so rare that the odds were much higher to master metamorphosis by picking it than by having to find it twice in shops.
@@restlessfrager true, but its easier to pick up dead cards (like those battle hymns) when you have a surefire win deck like dark embrace corruption clad or apo watcher.
