Lmao, got me good with the Writhe run. Honestly more youtubers should do this once in a while, seeing an early death puts in frame how brutal the game could be, and it always keeps the suspense up knowing that sometimes you don't know if they make it or not.
The best part is we can also see *why* he lost, the writhe start plus just not getting all that powerful was brutal and it illustrates exactly why curse starts are so scary (unless you can quickly remove them)
Prismatic Shard = something you probably haven't seen before. I still loved the run where he had Corruption on the Watcher and used it for free Omega buffs.
Don't know what to think about prismaric shard. On one hand you can make crazy illegal combos, on the other you flood your card reward pool with cards that you will most likely never need making the playthrough less consistent.
Getting destroyed by hexaghost, then immediately building an insanely powerful run and crushing the spire in back to back runs. This is why Slay The Spire doesn’t get old even after thousands of hours
At A20, most lost runs fail in Act 1 I think. The quality of the cards you get early on is one of the most significant factors in whether or not you win at A20.
@@jacobwansleeben3364 If you are a good player then yes. Because variance is the most lethal enemy for them. The longer a run goes on, the longer they have for their skills to dominate and the luck to even out.
I've done it once as silent with shivs and saw frostprime do it once before. It's definitely crazy rare it almost never comes up because how do you attack a guy 14 times without it dying haha
I appreciate this format of occasionally including a short lost run before a complete run! It helps merge some of the educational qualities of the stream, including learning from losses, with the content of the youtube channel!
Why would you read the comments before watching the video? Sounds like your own fault there. I don't go and read Reddit posts about a Tv show I like before I've seen the latest episode

It's normal for people to discuss the run in the comments, or indeed discuss the content of any video in the comments. If you don't want to know what the video content is, don't read the comments before watching. Seems like common sense to me. You're never going to police everyone and prevent them discussing spoilers
My approach when I was climbing was to path somewhat towards unlocking the heart, and if I didn't feel my deck was strong enough and I needed the extra blue key relic, upgrade or couldn't afford to path towards the burning elite then I wouldn't. This forced me to learn how to analyse the relative strength of my deck, which is an important skill, while still giving me a challenge and progression, which ticks every box for me. In the sporadic runs where my deck was sensational then I would push for the heart. In decks where I was hobbling by, I would skip it. I didn't find progressing from A20 to A20H runs to be that much of a difficulty spike either. Imo, the hardest part of A20H runs is taking a deck that's just barely surviving and trying to carve that into something heart-worthy. And being super comfortable with the rest of the Spire from clearing A0-A20 without factoring in the Heart is a huge help.

For the Heart runs, at least it lets you climb ascensions when you die in act 4. I've just recently started climbing ascensions after 700 hours of play at A0, and there have been a lot of runs where progressing ascensions while dying to the heart just feels like cheating.
Yeah totally. Remains that playstyle is very different when you build a deck for the heart/collecting keys vs when you build solely to beat Act 3. A perfect A20 Heart playstyle is not the same as a perfect A1 no heart playstyle and so on :)
Incredible like, just an hour ago, i had the same deck ( the one with corruption, feed and apparition ) that you could've take and that deck lead to my first heart win at A4. Ended up with 70 HP after losing 48 with apparitions event
Good to see a loss every so often. I'm climbing Ascensions now focusing on Silent, and it can be discouraging to have a streak of lost runs when all I see on TH-cam are the victories. And unrelated to the video, but good for a chuckle: I just chose the 'Lose all gold for a rare relic' starting bonus, and it gave me Old Coin. To the early first shop!
