    Great video. I’m getting ready to go on my first tuna fishing trip here in japan. Puzzled by the rods breaking. I hear that you get spooled a lot here. For jigging, I have 200 gram Medusa Custom 6’2” rod or Daiwa Saltiga 300 gram rods with 14000 Stella. For casting, I have a 180 gram MEDUSA with a Certate 18000 (pe 8). I think I need a spare spool for the Stella. Is this adequate?

    what a great demonstration of how not to catch tuna

    • @evsta100
      @evsta100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ouch, not always what it's about but maybe a stinger. I'd take a broken rod and fish story any day since they did catch a nice one. This crowds rough.

      St. Croix Rift - it looks like those rods were the 6'6" rods and the St. Croisx website has these length rods as medium/medium heavy and a 50lb max fish weight. So maybe the rods were too light.

    Just so we’re clear you measure bluefins from the top jaw. Not the lower jaw. Mixing that up could be a very costly mistake.

    This is a very well-produced series! Would you like it to play on Cape Media Center's public-access channel? We broadcast to all of Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, and Chatham.

    Entertaining video as usual. I dont think the quality of the rods was the issue. Take a trout rod and try to catch a 30 pound striped bass. Odds are you will bust the rod.

    All that rod pumping is losing fish, constant pressure is way safer…
