- Zac and I take our 2005 Contender 23 Tournament about 70 miles to the north (approximately 55 miles or so from closest land )
We start off getting our two man Yellowfin Tuna limit chunking with light tackle gear.
We then sprint to a close by canyon to catch a few mahi mahi for the table and for fresh swordfish baits.
We then end the day chunking amidst hundreds of PILOT WHALES only to almost LOSE OUR LIVES to a captain not aware of his surroundings!!! - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Don't apologize for the yelling / language - You are 100% correct about being safe and smart on the water!
thanks so much for watching!
That was one of the best 40 minutes of video watching that I have seen in a while. You really know how to not only find the action but also how to capture it on the video. Keep up the great work :)
First time I had seen buddies fishing together and not helping each other. It's like every man to himself.
Two guys. Two big tuna. Light gear. Kinda hafta focus on what you're doing. Plus we each fish this boat solo for tuna so we like to practice gaffing solo.
That's why they have 5 big tuna boated in under 45 mins... These men know what they are doing!
@@reaperfishingnj8623you guys boated 5 in under 45 mins chunking! 🔥🔥🔥 Banner trip
Excited yelling is much different than panic/angry yelling. Nice work my two dudes!!!
I always carry a air horn for those occasions... on a lanyard around my neck.. saved my ass a few times in the yak.. you make as much noise as possible until you see a reaction, all the while getting your ass out of their way.. everyone who's been in those situations, know you tend to say a few words you normally don't say.. looked like a fun day on the water..
That's a good idea, i was in my yak last year ,had a boater on plane heading right at me came down about 50ft away turned sideways waked me , gave me a dirty look along with his seahag wife then sped off.
I was eating a sandwich 100ft from shore he just missed 3 guys raking clams and somehow almost ran me over.
we have one I just didn't think i needed it at that moment with perfect visibility and plenty of light still left.
You were correct to be upset at that huge boat running you almost over. It happens all the time in San francisco bay and ocean. I am in a smaller boat (22 foot boston whaler) so I know the feeling. good job and tight lines.
thanks so much for tuning in all the way from San Fran!! Appreciate it. Never been up that way. Was only in Cali once to surf down by the Trestles area
Great video! I hope to catch ONE tuna some day!
You'll get em!!!
From the 80’s in a 21’ center console fishing of fernandina beach, ne Fla.
it’s an adventure, limited technology, paper fish finders and the newest thing,,,loran for navigating. Oh my were we brave going 40-50 miles from dirt.
Anyway your raw unfiltered video reminded me of my youth and the friends❤️. We were kinda stupid by today’s standards but we caught fish!!!
Anyway my boat always was mass chaos after braving the trip.
Thanks for bringing back memories of my youth.
And no matter where you are there’s always not safe idiots.
so cool man. That's kinda how our fathers fished in the 90s. Loran. Gas tanks strapped down. They had lots of good stories. I remember running out of fuel after an overnighter just a few miles off the beach. We caught flounder while we waited for the extra fuel
@@reaperfishingnj8623 I had a 21 foot Mako CC and would run over 40 miles out at night on a full moon to the Mango Hole. Had a Sitex Loran and a paper recorder. Loran antenna broke on the way out in rough seas. went fro 2 to 3 to 6 to 8'seas in just a few minutes. two hours out and almost 8 hours just to come in about 25 miles north of the inlet and just about out of gas but we made it. Never again! Think it was 1976 off Daytona Beach.
Great job. I am a minimalist and the clutter on your boat gives me an anxiety attack LOL.
ha!!
Awesome trip! The guy in the Viking what an irresponsible a-hole, thankfully you guys we’re paying attention. Keep the vids coming Capt. Chris!
Money doesn't buy brains😂😂
he legit had no clue we were there
Great stuff, non stop action, loved it 👍
thanks so much Man!!!
This is probably one of the best fishing shows. I really enjoyed watching congratulations guys. I’m from Jersey myself. I’d love to see people do it like you just did unbelievable great knowledge and you taught some people what’s right and what’s wrong that’s a good thing. God bless more fish.
thank you so much for the kind words!! and thanks so much for watching. God bless
You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up to a new Reaper video.

Awesome video, keep them coming. Glad you got in them.
Talk about getting Numb Arms this would certainly do it, WOW .

thanks so much for watching Richard. The wait list is pretty long. Ha.
Capt chris Killin it again
Looks like this beats our walleye fishing!
never caught a walleye. Def on my bucket list. Thanks so much for checking us out. Walleye fishing seems so darn fun. One of my goals is to get one in a fish shack in winter on ice
Great sacandaga has great walleye hard water fishing in upstate NY
Bad ass trip capt. Close call
Epic. Nice work
thanks so much
Banner trip 🔥
sure was. Thanks so much for watching!!
I would have been on the horn screaming at that skipper. Some people run over fish to get to the fish. I try to stay away from the fleet. itz a good day. When the loading the boxes and flying the flag, what a great day fishing
He was beyond annoying. I usually don't even have the vhf on.
New subscriber here! Awesome trip!!
Thanks for the sub! More awesome content coming!!
I’ll start the motors when we hook up just so I can make small wiggles to keep fish off the stern. A lot tougher to do when you have two fish on obviously but can still usually make small heading changes.
Agreed. Boat moves easy just keep someone at the wheel if possible
thanks so much for the comeback!!!
Nice trip man, I never got the proper window on a day off to make the run to the triple wrecks. 21' mod v parker
thanks so much for watching! You'll get out this year
I haven’t seen that much blood since Django Unchained.
ha
Great video. Looking for a trip? Any ideas?
Nice job!!
F ing awesome
thanks so much for watching Brian
For working a fish around the motors on a CC…. A longer 8’ rod helps. Or get a V-shape line pusher tool.
roger. thanks man
no way u said "almost died" to that🤣🤣
that was a close call!!!!!
How are you hooking your whole or cut butter fish? Are you still using the Gami in line circles?
This day was a mix of live bait or whole butterfish. 5/0 Gamakatsu 2X strong circle.
It’s awesome experiencing things others will never see or dream of seeing. Side note, what is fuel burn on the 23T? Do you guys bring a bladder with you? Thx
1.6mpg @ 28kts when Chris runs it, 2.1 @ 32kts when Zac runs it 😁
@@slmed87 thanks Capt Zac! Little boats get it done too
jerk
that was meant for slmed87
When you set your drag, you use a scale or at this point by feel? If using scale, do you do bent rod or straight off reel?
I set all my drags using the brass Manley scale. I pull on a bent rod. But for the light tackle stuff a lot of it is by feel during the fight as well. I'll thumb it when i know i can gain line at the end of the fight
Turn the boat to avoid the outboard 😊 if you can't control the fish you can swing the boat and place the fish to your side.
thanks so much for the input!
He Chris, I have a question on your trolling rods do u prefer mono top shot or floro top shots
all mono top shots
NEWSFLASH !!! The 23T Contender is 25 feet, and going faster for better ride is a crock of *hit.
Those fish boiling- could you pop for those? Not saying chunking was not effective ha. Just curious if those are open to top baits
Yes they will respond to the poppers when they are busting like that. I honestly prefer when they rip a chunked bait out of my hand!! It's how we grew up
❤❤REAPER! ❤❤
Nice fishing. What is the caynon name you was fishing?
Lindenkohl
Who are you buying the bait from? Riptide?
yes sir
First timer and sub'd. Did you leave AC and travel north to the Canyon ?
thanks so much for watching!!! And thanks for subscribing. We ran 70 or so north to the first spot. then about 35 or so to the canyon (Lindenkohl).....then about 72 back home
Was that big contender yellow?
don't think so
what did u do w all that fish? great vid btw
aw man this is nothing. We sometimes come back with 16 yellowfin or so. Nothing goes to waste. Our entire island of friends and family gets fresh fish for a few days. Zero gets frozen!
Probably need to carry a bullhorn with you for those boaters that don’t pay attention where are you going.
For sure. I have one on the boat. Just didn't think i needed it in perfect visibility with tons of light still left. Glad no one was hurt. No biggie
Did notice the lack of yelling but you's are out of Jersey right? Yelling got no place in Jersey...Jussaying.....GREAT VIDEO....gotta get the mate ta gaf em....
thanks so much for watching!
Fun vid, although ads every four minutes is a bit much
sorry. i'll hafta work on that
Center console fishing, fish off the bow. We do the same with Bluefins here in NC. Keeps you away from the props
thanks so much
I’m amazed that you’re even able to land a fish given the cluster fuck of a boat that you have there’s everything in your way buckets and coolers and who knows what else with no room behind your leaning post and ransom how the hell are you guys do that shit without killing yourselves my Lord
We had intended on cleaning up the cockpit but got bit in no time. Had to capitalize on a good bite. And we are still getting used to tuna fishing from a small center console. Our main boat is a 43 ft Flybridge. That being said I think we made due just fine
We try to fight the fish from the bow. Everglades 295.
roger. thanks so much Scott
Boy what would they do if they caught big fish
thanks so much for checking us out!!
These guys are so disorganized........LOL!
The whales, dolphins and all the other life out there is way cooler than landing the fish. Can't match it. RIP your cigar.
Ha. The whole experience is just unreal
you are officially crazy....and I want that captain's name and number so I can give him a piece of my mind.
Where is your safety horn bull horn
Safety first, flood light
First one in !
Prettt sure We saw that same dude in the contender the same day! Ran right though our slick at the tripples. He was all over the place.
that dude needs a talkin to!!! Thanks so much for watching
Whowsers 😂😂😂
That's right out of every episode of Scooby Doo!
ha. i was raised on scooby doo
@reaperfishingnj8623 I'm there with you, bruh. It was part of the saturday morning cartoon line-up
Why Get up so early
often times these bites are done by 7-8 am when the sun gets high and the boat traffic starts
People give me a hard time for using cush-its.
hmm. not sure why
I have a 32 ST and never have that many rods on deck. Especially when it’s just 2 of us. You’re in a slick put 3 rods out and the other 12 rods away. God I hate filthy people.
This was our very first multispecies offshore trip on the Contender. I'm not really a CC guy, but We'll get the hang of it. I'm used to our 43 Ocean with lots of storage, space, etc. Thanks so much for checking us out. My boats are always filthy with blood n guts!!!
Every 1 supposedly run 100miles offshore. I run 5 miles off key Biscayne n catch all the fish I want..ohhhh I know u want a good video but tighten ur dragol
so cool you can get fish that close!!! Thanks so much for watching! Our drags are light because we are using very light leader. 30 lb to max 50 usually on these inshore fish. You'll break quite a bit off with a good amount of drag
Telling others to slow down mate you’ve got some nerve killing 6 fish between 2 of you a fish that was once endangered how do you sleep at night
These are yellowfin tuna, not bluefin. 3 fish per man. Not a single pound was wasted. Our yield is shared amongst close friends and family. Nothing is frozen.
Unfortunately I don't sleep too well, but that's a horse of a different color. Thanks so much for checking us out.
@reaperfishingnj8623 pay him no mind. He's trying to check you
on rules he's not clear on. I'm sure you wouldnt be blatantly posting you and your crew braking the law. Let's see if he's man enough to apologize to yo.
Awesome day fellas congratulations those were beautiful yellowfins and yeah, that guy was a dick..!!
thanks so much for watching!
Jerk store. nice seinfeld reference! pretty work
Ha. i knew someone would catch on
