Can't say enough how helpful this guy is! Chris emailed me a link to this video and now I am on my way to saving over $120 in shop time and supplies! The world needs more guys like him! Thank you, Chris!!!
Hey Chris, I noticed you used an aluminum drip pan.. 👍🏽👍🏽 TWO THUMBS UP for safety!! It would be a good tip to tell your viewers to be sure to use a metal or rubber drip pan whenever they're working with gasoline because plastic naturally builds static electricity. The chances are slim that there will be an ignition but there is that chance. Especially if the pan gets moved around - as it slides on the ground, more static electricity builds. 💣 Thanks for the great how-tos. You've saved me lots of money since I stumbled across your channel.
Every time I watch your videos bro I'm 20 and now able to repair my 2001 Dodge ram 1500 by my self and nearly complete. Thanks for the information awsome videos
Thanks Chris. I used this method to change the fuel filter on my 2005 Renault scenic II 2.0 16v. It took all of 5 minutes as the fuel lines connecting to the filter are held on by pinch clips, and once off, the filter slides out the holder. Keep up the great work. By the way im in South Africa, so you are helping a lot of people all around the world
Thanks Chris I can actually do things on my own on my car now, your videos are so informative and love the step by step walk throughs. I am a visual and hands on learner these videos are awsome for me!!
Nice video. Only thing is I wouldn't feel comfortable adding anti-seize to the filter threads, feel like there's a chance some would get on the end of the line as you're inserting it in place and capture it inside the filter
Just wanted to say thank you ChrisFix. I done a fuel filter on my 1991 Toyota Celica GT 2.2L 5SFE, and my 1997 Toyota Corolla 1.8L 7AFE. Your tips were extremely helpful! With my Toyotas I didn't need a fuel line tool, they came just off. But it's a useful tool to keep on you!
Chris, I remember subscribing to you when I had car troubles and you only had 70k subs. Now I just watch your vids for fun and it's crazy much you've grown since then. Good job man, keep it up.
I love how he is quick and to the point and not a lot of hoop la! He advances to get right to the job at hand! Great video Chris! I appreciate what you do and how you do it! There so great even a girl can understand and do it, lol!
Had the local shop replace my 2002 Cavalier's fuel filter the other day actually...and then they came out and said uhhhh the fuel line is crumbling all over the place and we should have warned you that would potentially happen...The nice thing is they have awesome customer service and I only paid for an additional "fuel line repair kit" which was only like 13 dollars more than I originally anticipated...they didn't charge labor for the repair because they said it was technically a mechanical labor warranty as they broke the line...although it was unavoidable lol.
Changed my filter in my Blazed today! Apparently gas will quickly dissolve plastic cups. I got gas EVERYWHERE. There is a clip on my filter I have to squeeze to slide the gas line off. It somehow got jammed. Only issue I have now is I can’t get my mounting bracket off of the old filter. For now, my new one is held in place with a zip tie. I used your video for every step of the way. Thanks Chris! Next is gonna be the plugs and rotor!
Bought myself a new fuel filter for Christmas among other things, haha. If it wasn't for these videos I'd probably have forgotten about changing it. Thanks again for the videos, Chris and I hope you have an awesome start to 2016!
Hey @ChrisFix , ive been having problems with my 1992 ford Taurus where my fuel pump wouldn't pump sometimes so, i was told to change the fuel filter. i saw one of your videos on how to change it like 3 days before i actually changed it. let me cut to the chase i forgot a safety step and fuel came out of the fuel filter landed in my face out of reaction i turned my head to get out and alot of fuel went into my ear canal it burned for 2 hours, a ton of pain. i lost my hearing for the rest of the day and today i woke up sick (happened yesterday, cant hear well) bottom line is kids, always safety first went working on cars not to discourage from working on cars its a fun hobby and sometimes a necessity, but safety first.
You are awesome!! You helped me fix my washer, and I know so much more thanks to you! Just wanted to let you know that your videos are MUCH appreciated! I hope you have a very happy, and blessed new year!
@hugo rewucki That's horrible advice. #1) Modern cars do not play well with running out of gas and you can damage the pump. #2) Regardless if you run the tank dry, there's still going to be fuel in the fuel filter and in the lines.
This should work on my 2000 mirage (Mitsubishi). The biggest issue is Mitsubishi decided to be a pain and put the filter right in the middle of the dratted engine bay where it's impossible to get any leverage. But thanks for the video, it cleared a lot up for me.
That is a super clean C4.... Great video. That one is in SUCH a tough spot, I'm amazed you got such a decent video of it..... MUCH easier on an Escalade.... Fuel filter is on the driver's side, under the driver's door, roughly... Much more accessible. But the concept is very similar, just like you showed..... Great job man. That is a great video.
+William Decoteau In Germany, such a filter costs less than 10 Euros or 10 Dollars. I would change it more often if i was afraid of a seized filter. It's cheaper than putting on anti-seize there, i agree with you.
So glad my 2000 Tacoma has its filter on the bottom. Modern cars have it in the fuel tank. This Corvette uses the same type of filter, and it is the first thing I have ever replaced in a vehicle when learning DIY.
+Dcc357 Yea, it is a shame that they put filters in the tank these days! I am glad all of my cars have external filters. It's good to know the Tacoma has an external one too!
+Adrian Garcia Have you found it yet? Many newer vehicles have filters that are integrated within the fuel tank, which does make it a pain in the ass to service yourself.
Dang chris, i did this today on our 2004 Grand Am V6 with over 217k Miles on it...Never been changed, fuel was coming out black, it wasn't the easiest thing because it had been under there so long but, i betcha that fuel pump is working alot easier. Thanks for your help!
You should do an overview video of your corvette and truck. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see and know what you've done to them! Happy New Year!
thanks chris I have a blazer hard to crank and it would stall when I stopped I changed the filter like u showed cranks good now and no stalling thanks a lot
I was gonna get some jacks but I got those cool ramps to start doing work on my 15 impala, helps so much learning from changing my power steering fluid and transmission fluid
I have a 2000 camaro v6, >96k miles, Florida garage kept, fuel filter never changed. Thanks for your tips, now I know. I also bought ACDelco fuel system cleaner with the new filter. Question: Should I change the fuel filter first, then use the system cleaner? Thanx for all of your help!
Nice! Only ever worked on a 'Vette once; they can be such a pain in the butt! If you're at all concerned about the residual fuel pressure, you can crank the car a few times after you pull the fuel pump fuse to bleed the system down a bit more. It's also worth nothing that some GMs have a sort of dual circuit thing going on with the fuel pump. Pulling the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump fuse while the car is running won't turn the pump off! Once the engine is running, the engine computer switches the power feed to the pump over through the oil pressure switch, which uses a separate circuit and relay. Depending on the car, either disconnecting the oil pressure switch (if easily accessible) or disconnecting the fuel pump harness where it connects to the body is much easier. :)
+rhkips On some cars you have a bleeder screw next to the fuel rail in the engine bay. Just unscrew it a tiny bit with a rag in the other hand and the pressure will drop as well. Usually the bleeder is easy to find for somebody who does the service on his own.
Maybe one day you could make a video on the c4 vette and what you like about them. I've never worked on one, but I have done tons of stuff with c5 vettes. Just a thought. Keep up the good work man!
Hi I'm Mark from Ph, I bought a family car for my gf almost four years ago which is corolla altis 2002 manual transmision with 220,000km. If so happen that I already have enough budget I wanna clean her Maf Sensor&Throttle body(w/ CRC) considering the replacement of OEM cabin & intake air filter, PCV Valve & hose( since it was probably previously damage by the manufacturer before), fuel filter & clean her fuel injectors. Recently major Replacement was water pump(220k km milage), I was succesfuly replace it by following Sir Peter Finn's corolla tutorials. Looking forward to replace her gear oil several years from now. Hoping that after I've succesfuly done all of this she might able to restore her power, engine performance & fuel efficiency. Currently she was consuming 11-13 km/L (27.5-32.5 MPG) city, 16-18 km/L (40-45 MPG) hw. Thanks you Chris, keept it up and safe! =]
One of the best parts of 2015 was finding your channel. Very helpful and love all your videos. Can't wait to see what's coming in 2016. Happy new year ChrisFix!!! PS love your vette
Hey Chris! I'm pretty sure you won't see this, seeing that your video is from like 4 years ago...but maybe someone can answer this: is there a way to de-pressurize the fuel system on gasoline engines? I know some diesels have a relief valve or something. Thanks, man! I love your channel, brother.
Another great video Chris. Some vehicles have fuel pressure release switch under the hood on the fuel rail, it usually looks like a Schroeder valve like for your tire stem.
Wow did you get lucky... Most GM's are rusted out so bad, you end up replacing the fuel lines too.. But it's a Vette so I would think it's a little more taken care of.. Good video, nice job Chris
Always polished and well produced. What about the fuel filters that are now an integral part of the fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank? Do you wait until the pump fails? This would entail emptying the tank, dropping the tank and then the fuel filter if you could actually buy it separately from the pump.
Thank you Chris very much for your videos. They have been super helpful in working on my 1995 LT1 Corvette... first spark plugs, then plug wires, and now fuel filter. Great stuff!
Words cannot express the frustration involved with doing this on a late model c4. Chris, you make it look really easy but GM, you clearly had some R&D issues in 1993 😅😤
I have a similar fuel filter on my Toyo Solara v6, I read somewhere online that it doesn't need to be changed? is it true? I was scared to do it cuz messing up the fuel lines this video was definitely helpful thank you!
For anyone with a 96-00 civic wondering where ur filter is,it's in the top left part of ur car. Once u buy the filter, just look at that corner,u cant miss it. I bought a filter, but still haven't gotten myself to changing it. Will tho when it gets warmer
I just replaced a fuel filter in my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban @ 450,000 miles. It had a minuscule amount of rust from being exposed to Michigan road chemicals.
Hi Chris! While speaking about fuel filter, what about "Clean your fuel injectors" video? Because if someone has really old, dirty fuel filter, then he will probably need this done too :)
Chris Fix thank you so much for all the videos you do. I love doing things myself and love keeping my hard earned money away from these dishonest car mechanics.
Sweet ride and thanks for all the videos Chris. Happy new year to you and your family and good health. Can't wait to see what 2016 holds for the channel.
On more exposed filters, there is a flexible line towards the front of the car. You can move it out of the way, then slide the filter out without removing the bracket
I love my Cadillac. A lot. But it drives me insane that I can't do nearly any simple tasks because of the way they design them. I haven't attempted to change my fuel filter, I just like watching your videos... But I am sure that it would be much more complicated.
Watching this video made me realize that cars have become so complicated. Our ‘52 Plymouth had a glass 🥃? Filter by the carburetor! One simply dump the gasoline out and reposition it in its holder.
i love the sound of the wrench snapping things into place
Can't say enough how helpful this guy is! Chris emailed me a link to this video and now I am on my way to saving over $120 in shop time and supplies! The world needs more guys like him! Thank you, Chris!!!
+Eric Sliva Glad I was able to help! Normally I dont answer emails because that is for business only but you got lucky :P haha
How come this awesome guy gets dislikes on his videos, when all he does is educate us ?
I know. I don't get it either. Fuckin haters do it just to be dicks.
+GiannyDelacruz 39 mechanics who would have charged you $300 to do this disliked the video
Brandon Necheff lol
some assholes have internet also.
Gianny De La Cruz people who did it and failed while on it..... paid a mechanic to finish the job
Hey Chris, I noticed you used an aluminum drip pan.. 👍🏽👍🏽 TWO THUMBS UP for safety!!

Oh and I never have to disconnect the fuse to the fuel pump, the fuel lines had hardly any pressure in them.
Thanks Chris I can actually do things on my own on my car now, your videos are so informative and love the step by step walk throughs. I am a visual and hands on learner these videos are awsome for me!!
I'm taking an automotive class in high school right now and we usually work on similar things like this so this videos really help out Chris :)
+xDRE4MC4TCHERx Awesome! Glad the videos are helpful!
Same.
Nice video. Only thing is I wouldn't feel comfortable adding anti-seize to the filter threads, feel like there's a chance some would get on the end of the line as you're inserting it in place and capture it inside the filter
Exactly my thoughts! I didn't feel OK to do this..
Anti seize adds about 25 horsepower once introduced into the fuel filter lmao
The anti-seize on the downstream end will go to the injectors. Not good. Also, why no blue loctite? It was originally built with it.

Thanks a lot man. I'm glad you still enjoy the videos and I appreciate the support
I wish car companies would keep the fuel filter outside instead of inside the gas tank. Such a hassle to replace
I love how he is quick and to the point and not a lot of hoop la! He advances to get right to the job at hand! Great video Chris! I appreciate what you do and how you do it! There so great even a girl can understand and do it, lol!

well the e-brake is kinda.... obligatory... dont u think?

Chris: Good fix Well done !
Bought myself a new fuel filter for Christmas among other things, haha. If it wasn't for these videos I'd probably have forgotten about changing it.
Thanks again for the videos, Chris and I hope you have an awesome start to 2016!
Haha, that's funny. Glad the video was a good reminder. Happy new year to you too!
+ChrisFix hey chris what year is your vette
Chris your channel has helped me work on my 03 Ranger and work on other vehicles at work I appreciate the help!!

Something i can't do!
I had no idea about the filters and what kind of had until I watched your video and it helped me out extremely and I found out I had a GM filter
Great video Chris! I reckon these filters are a pia to get loose after a few years or a lot of miles.
+Luca Car Mods Indeed which is why I used the antiseize on the threads of the new one!
My leaks after install
I really like your videos, they sound so simple and you really only upload relevant procedures.
I dont even have a car, but I hope somehow this information will be helpfull for me in the future
+Christian Spichiger Thanks a lot! I am glad you are learning a lot and when you get your car, you will know more than most people!
So probably shouldn't smoke while doing this huh?

@hugo rewucki That's horrible advice.

I'm not too sure if I would have put anti-seize on the threads, especially after the filter. I bet it wouldn't play nice with the injectors.
+William Decoteau In Germany, such a filter costs less than 10 Euros or 10 Dollars. I would change it more often if i was afraid of a seized filter. It's cheaper than putting on anti-seize there, i agree with you.

who are the top 5 machinist on You Tube?
+Bub Dog's What do you think? I think that the first place it would be between Scotty Kilmer and ChrisFix .

thanks chris I have a blazer hard to crank and it would stall when I stopped I changed the filter like u showed cranks good now and no stalling thanks a lot
so how do I know when the fuel filter needs to be replaced?
If you experience bad start ups. But there more causes for bad start ups. Search on the internet when you need to replace it for your vehicle.
+103Chris720 Check your service records if its done in the last 50k miles. If not, change it.

+103Chris720 most new cars have a non serviceable filter. Don't worry about it

Great video. You make it look so easy. I did my '96 Vette last year and had to give up a bit of knuckle skin to get er done. Happy New Year...
have a happy new year Chris fix you have saved so much money in 2015. thank you for the education and entertainment
+adrian bro You too man! I am glad the videos have been helpful and fun! Awesome stuff to come so stay tuned!

Great job Chris! I hate when people do not use flare nut wrenches. I love how you do in right! Keep up the great work and happy new year.
Nice! Only ever worked on a 'Vette once; they can be such a pain in the butt!

Another great, informative video, Chris. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!
very nice Corvette, I hope there will be more videos of it in the future. Makes me miss my 92 z28.
+bax1231 Thanks a lot! There will be more videos for sure!
Happy new year Chris! Have enjoyed your videos in 2015, here's to another great year!
+SuperSonicSpeedGuy Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the support! Big things coming this year so stay tuned! Happy New Year!!!
Great video, followed your steps to change a filter on my 1995 Toyota Tarago and worked a treat. Cheers!
starting sometime around 2004, most car makers eliminated user-replaceable fuel filters & substituted a "lifetime" filter inside the fuel tank.
Thanks again for a great vid! Please consider making your next Vette purchase a manual gearbox.
Thank you Chris very much for your videos. They have been super helpful in working on my 1995 LT1 Corvette... first spark plugs, then plug wires, and now fuel filter. Great stuff!
I'm a huge fan I love your videos, This video made my truck run much more smooth so thanks so much! Happy New Year!
And also before every video can you show what you need because it would make everything easier. Thanks
I am an automobile student your video clear my some major doubts
Awesome! Glad the videos are helpful.
Just bought a Grand Am... and of course you have a relevant video.
Happy new year chris! (here in Italy we're already in the 2016 lol)
I hope to see the final ep of the interceptor :D
+Modelero Happy new year bud! Thanks for all of the support this past year!
MAMAMÍA!
perfect job of getting through all the steps
+Bill Dollarmovie Thanks!
Perfect vid and timing Chris! I was planning to do my fuel filter this weekend anyway
+Fuzion180 Awesome!
very detailed bro. way more easier to follow than that Scott guy lol.
That Vette sounds amazing! 🙌🏼
+Bryan_NFS Thanks!
Liking the revs from the vette at the end
+Mitchell Boyd Thanks man! As car guys, I had to share the love ;)
For anyone with a 96-00 civic wondering where ur filter is,it's in the top left part of ur car. Once u buy the filter, just look at that corner,u cant miss it.
I bought a filter, but still haven't gotten myself to changing it. Will tho when it gets warmer
I think unscrewing the reservoir cap for a second, might have helped with releasing some of the pressure on the installation.
+B24Fox Reservoir cap? You mean the gas cap? That has noting to do with the fuel pressure so it wont do anything. Good thinking though.
Your Corvette sound so good!!!!!
+Zero necker Thanks man! Happy New Year!!!
I just replaced a fuel filter in my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban @ 450,000 miles. It had a minuscule amount of rust from being exposed to Michigan road chemicals.
I've seen a lot of Chrisfix videos and i can tell he loves Anti-sieze 😂 good videos bro
Awesome. Changing my Colorado FF this weekend. Thanks.
+Dennis Massie Awesome! Let me know how it goes!
Chris, I changed my fuel filter on my 93 C4 in the summer, and wow it was super nasty! Car has just under 79k. Happy new year!
+Brandon Herrera no way. I wish I cut mine open at 63k miles. After 30k miles it wasnt bad at all.
Wow, your car's miles are very low. I didn't even have to cut it open, that's how bad it was.
I'm never first......happy new year chris thanks for all your videos i have learned a ton of things from you
+Protab Ali Dang you were close though! Happy New Year!!!
Sweet ride and thanks for all the videos Chris. Happy new year to you and your family and good health. Can't wait to see what 2016 holds for the channel.
+ThisIsAPrettyLongUserNameWhyTheFuckWouldHeDoThatSoThatEveryoneWouldThumbsUpIt Thanks bud! Happy New Year!
Thanks chrisfix I wanted to see what's involved everyone this is a 5 mins job don't be affraid :)
Nice corvette man! I bet she runs like a beauty!
+Angel Casiano Thanks a lot! Yea she is so much fun to drive! I cannot wait til the spring!
That car is gorgeous man
Watching this video made me realize that cars have become so complicated. Our ‘52 Plymouth had a glass 🥃? Filter by the carburetor! One simply dump the gasoline out and reposition it in its holder.
Where is the next episode of project police intercepter?? I love that series
