Nick is the man. I got to hang out with him, Gregor, and a roadie for like half an hour after a show during the In Requiem tour, they were really cool guys, would have hung out with them even if they weren't in PL! Cool interview
Nick is so cheerful in his interviews these days, which is charming to see. I remember the interviews from back in the day when he and Greg would be so miserable, which I'm not sure how much of it was an act or how much of it was intentional.
Both act and intentional...the majority of doom acts are/were your typical stoner manchildren...but the Cavanagh brothers, they could be proper miserable twats at times :) They played their majestic 30th anniversary gig of 3 Acts in Brno (CZE) and the DJ would play Paradise Lost songs in between the acts. You should have seen Vincent, I've never seen a British fella so livid and agitated as he rushed out of the backstage to give the DJ some proper Scouse shit he had no chance to understand :D
@@Goryptor Yeah I suppose it fit the image all those bands were trying to create back then. Dour, dry and sardonic. But that story about Vincent is quite interesting, because usually I've heard stories about Danny Cavanagh being the unstable one. At least they were good enough sports to have Nick on stage with them to sing Fragile Dreams at some point in that tour.
One of my top 5 metal vocalists ever...his clean vocals are superb. Love the growls. And the raspield vox are second best only to The Het himself....Love Paradise Lost.
Absolutely legend Nick The new bloodbath album is absolutely fucking crushes. His vocals are so good and I love to hear what he is saying and his pronunciation is really good. Incredible nice job.
"You get older," the most honest interview in this series I've seen so far. Im a big PL fan! I think Nick vocals sound similar to James Hetfield sometimes
Listen to Bloodbath's latest "Survival Of The Sickest". You won't regret it. Album of the year for me. It doesn't break any new ground, but it is one damn enjoyable DM album. Really well written. The best of the Nick Holmes era Bloodbath. It's sick . . .
Hey man! Thank you very much for all these interviews! Your questions are really interesting and it is so cool to see how different people respond to one and the same question. Keep going! ❤🙏
The first years as a Paradise Lost fan I wasn't crazy about Nick's voice. He was off key a lot, he was weaker on mid ranges and didn't have a real aspect that set him apart. And then Draconian Times was where he NAILED IT. He found his voice.
I think it's a missed opportunity to have Nick Holmes as an interview partner and not trying to get into some philosopical areas with him. He won't explain his lyrics but it would be interesting to dig deeper into the thought process and influences behind them.
Nick can speak so clearly in his songs, with either harsh vocals or clean but you put him in an interview and miss about 60 percent of what he says. Crazy thing dude 😅
Me too. That's a long time ago already and i'm glad he changed his mind at one point and decided to follow up Mike in Bloodbath. 'Survival of the Sickest' is one hell of an oldschool deathmetal album with todays production values, It's Nick's best effort with them to date and i'll be blasting it for years to come!
Which vocalist would you like us to feature in the video series? Drop us a comment and remember to subscribe to our channel if you like the content!
Christian Alvestam i guess
@@mikeromadin8744 he would be very nice guest indeed! Lets see if we could pull it through someday. Amazing vocalist. 🤟
Tomi Joutsen please.
He interviews nicely.
❤This series, btw.
Arto is great!
Jari Maenpaa! - in English please!
Mike Patton, Tom G Warrior, Jens Kidman, Devin Townsend, Einar Solberg.
Greatest respect for people like Nick. No pretense, he is who he is and that's what matters.
What an awesome guy and such a great vocalist! Cool interview!
Thank you! =)
Nick is one of metal's greatest vocalists. From his early DM vocals to late 90's PL vocals to Bloodbath.
title should be: my story as a legend.

@@fullmetalguy8357 can you kindly point when he speaks about Anathema? I missed it 😢

Cool🤘And now we need Aaron Stainthorpe for sure🖤
Definitely! Great suggestion!

Nick is my favorite singer.
Nice interview. Paradise Lost, Meshuggah and Leprous are the only bands I'm listening these days.

Thanks for the interview! Hyviä kysymyksiä. Fan of PL for more than 30 years and Nick is a lyrical genius.

Great interview and the special focus on the vocals is refreshing 👌
When I first heard them I said to my self this is my new band
Lost Paradise and Gothic was really important albums for me back in the days.
I remember back in the 90' waiting for Headbanger ball to play a true belief video, what a kick as song 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cool to hear that, i allways thought that Shades of god had his best and more original vocal work ever.
God Talkin' Thx for this. Hail from Normandy.
Seen Paradise Lost at Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven 1995. Great show. True Belief times ;-)
top dude.

Icon surely?
The progress from Icon to Draconian Times is palpable.
Great interview with such a cool guy. Anyone recommend an album by the band he mentioned: Devastation
Thanks! 😎🤟

It would be cool if You asked him how he transitioned from growling to clear singing
This dude is real.... just wish any one of his bands would come to Kansas or Missouri. Just sayin.
Great interview... honest and candid, still a shit business though.
Heavy metal and Star Wars?? Vader :))

Nick is clumsy with the flour.
I remember when he said he was done with death metal!!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡
