I could listen to Erik talking for hours. Interviews with other musicians are often boring and sterile, but his never are. He truly has interesting things to say and a good way to express them.
His personality has always been one of the things that really grabbed me alongside their great music. The last piece of advice sums it up. Those emotionally harrowing moments in songs make Watain's music so much more important to me than other bands.
Watched them perform in 2010 , during the start of their Lawless Darkness - tour and I got totally blown away. Best performance I ever attended. Erik's charisma is pretty much unparallelled , in my opinion.
What a fantastic interview dude. I've never seen Erik speak so freely. Kudos on coming at this from a different angle and as well for respecting the musical craft and journey. I expect you have some decent experience yourself on the road in order to have such insight. Erik himself seems a complex and guarded man with a great depth of knowledge and through your work we have seen a little beyond the veil. Well done.
I love when the artist is really comfortable with the interviewer. In some interviews he was like performing somehow, it happened with other artists, but they are who they are.. you get to know the passionate guy with their art and music, and it all flows really well. Cool interview!
It's nice to see Erik evolve past the edge lord he always was. He's such an intelligent guy and even Selim and Jon let themselves be seen as human. Selim was even thought of as genuinely sweet and kind to people but channeled the same kinds of energies in his music.
MARVELLOUS interview. Easy and curious questions (that usually no one asks)..just to pour a bit whiskey and light a cigarille to argue and join the interview along. And a friendly and open Eric.. Goood jooob!
I feel this interview really appeals to musicians and as a vocalist/guitar player in the metal kingdom I appreciate hearing a more specific perspective on his craft, not just how their touring is going etc etc you really pull more meaningful information out of the musicians you have on here. I wish more people asked deeper questions like this! You really ask leading questions that make them think deeply on the spot. Tusen Takk fra norge, har det bra ;@ 🇳🇴
Thank you. To be honest I am myself quite bored after doing 1000+ basic interviews in my life and wanted to some change myself as well for these. I feel this is 100 times more interesting content than a basic interview. 🤟
Yeah, but I think that those lil' Swede has choosen it because it appeared on the artwork of Hellhammer's "Apokalyptik Raids" (1990 version), not because of the artist.
He would be amazing. Actually tried once but we was not available for interviews around then. Hopefully that will happen. And personally I would love to hear Dani Filths story as well. I might be able to do it around the live album. 🤔🤟
@@chaoszine it would be epic 👍. I want to personally thank you for doing the series, man.. it’s such an important resource for aspiring metal vocalists to hear how our favorite singers got to where they are

I agree 👍🏼
"Do not mistake me for a star..." *...all of the goosebumps...*
best lyrics ever
I shared in a joint with Erik once upon a time. He's an exquisite communicator, always a blast to hear. Long live Watain

Did not expect a genuinely heartwarming answer regarding supportive parents here…a nice surprise!

Great job, man. It's nice to see interviewers who ask thoughtful, concise questions and give the guest time to answer.

awesome interviewer, awesome interview. erik it's really open to talk about himself here
I was lucky I got him to do it. I wish I would have had like 15 mins more to ask everything out. 😊
I freaking love Watain and their music. Erik's voice is awesome!
Awesome interview. Erik Danielson has got to be hands down the best Black Metal vocalist today. Truly an inspiration.
Please, Watain is not Black Metal. Watain is paint by numbers, run of the mill Metal. Safe, easily accessible prolefeed for simple minds.

With 12 years he was listen to mayhem, bathory, burzum and darkthrone, great!
Have met Erik back on first European tour also others infamous from Sweden. Good times.
This is right up my alley!🤘🔥🖤🔥🤘An interview with my favorite singer! Doesn't get much better than this!
🤟😊
Starts with SLAYER👹👹👹👹👹👹
Defleshed is one of my favorite bands.........I had no idea Eric was from the same town. Really cool.
Great interview!
Very great and interesting interview with very unusual questions perfectly answered!
Hail Watain!

Maravilloso encontrar esto aquí, gracias a Erik y gracias a ti por la entrevista a él.

Excellent interview \m/ good questions, very clear answers :)
Cool interview, cheers! 🤘🏻
Black Metal is true music of Nature 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I agree \m/
They rode on, is my favorite Watain song. In fact, I want that to play at my funeral.
Great interview cheers
Thank you! 🤟
I liked a lot the question about the parents' reaction :) very interesting answer :)
The final advice is really good \m/ you need to go on having goose bumps about your art/work/trade to keep motivated :)
Erik Danielsson is the fucking man! 🤘🏻great interview mate!
Thanks! Would love to get other extreme vocalists featured. Dani Filth would be nice =)
@@chaoszine that would be killer!

@@nd9367 certainly! But knowing Erik's art, it is a factor he considered. Also did Tom G back in the day
Awebo ! 🤘
Yes, Batlord and Mayhem!
So far this makes me glad I stepped down as front man
Glad he doesn’t take himself too seriously like Mortuus from Marduk.
Mortuus from Marduk is bigger,
Stronger and more evil.
Watain is so fucking awesome
They’re not bad.
If I'm not mistaken I think their bassplayer is Brazilian. Alvaro Lillo.
Is from Chile
What is the title of the song at 10:26?
Wow Erik must be my age, I discovered Heavy Metal through the Metallicas s/t
album.
storytime with the blix of black metal

10:23 "what is now being referred to as our first demo" And what was the name of that tape? Something about a jewish god. 😆
@icankillbugsit’s probably just a language thing, but it might just be that he sees it more as a rough rehearsal tape than a real recording
My like resembles earth 616 lol 😂
Jesus Christ loves you
And he hates you and everyone else thinks youre a douche

His friends sister sounds like a groupie, lmao.
