I saw them live in 1995 while touring Draconian Times …
They open for Faith No More and OzzY …Monsters of Rock 1995 Chile 🇨🇱…they blew me away…I became fan since that day …I was only 17…about a year later I started a band with a friend that also attended the same show …It was very inspiring concert, I will say…🤘🏼

Paradise Lost are absolutely, without a doubt masters of their craft.
Their new stuff like Darker Thoughts is still better than 99.99% of the music around today.

and hey she is also a true Goth Metal godess
seriously love the whole Goth Doom metal focus that the video had
and of course i will not have it without the presence of
    MY DYING BRIDE in it
0:35 also cute little brunette valky warning

      bless you my brother
we should NEVER stop believing in our music and we should always defended
GOTH DOOM/ FUNERAL DOOM is the best of all Metal styles if i have to choose one
and is the one i play daily in my instrumental music projects
in case you may not be aware
look for bands like THE FROWNING, MESMUR, CAMEL OF DOOM, SUPER STATIC, WHEN NOTHING REMAINS, TEMPESTUOUS FALL, MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY
      etc EPIC etc
there is a big line of Post Goth Doom Funeral doom that right now are bringing back a whole generation of good music
well for the record look for RUSSIAN CIRCLES as well
oh btw TO HELL with LimpBSTRASH
god always despised them to death
the absolute overrated CRINGE they always where
      they do not matter

44:30 thats how i found Paradise Lost. After Metallicas black album they stopped recording from 1990 to 1996. Between those times Draconian Times was out, and a friend of mine had a cassete saying “ Metallicas new album leak “. First time I heard, I remembered thinking it WAS Metallica, on a new other level! Then we found out it was Paradise Lost, and Metallica became my former favorite band. I went full on Paradise Lost ! And like gods pf the sun from My Dying Bride . Couldn’t stop listening.

Me too, I think Host is great. Its interesting how they say such negative things about Believe In Nothing and the recording process of it but the first track I Am Nothing is the track that got me into PL, my friend was listening to it on mini disk and played me it and I was hooked, so that album is very important to me because if it wasn't for my friend playing it to me I wouldn't have discovered PL. I love all their albums, and love the change in styles too. You can always tell its them

Got to hang out with them in Kansas (Katatonia was there too).... Thanks for making this.

If you followed PL a bit later, starting from In Requiem, it would be even better. This for me was the (re)turning point after a few so-so albums. All they released since is excellent!

    • @mickward7769
      @mickward7769 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed In Requiem pushed back toward their early sound a little more but the Self Titled was IMO where they truly started to swing things back around, Don't Belong, Grey, Red Shift, Sun Fading... all and more set them up nicely for Requiem and the heavies that followed. Regardless Paradise Lost are one of the best so on that we agree ;)
Thanks for the doco upload Diran a very cool watch... \m/

@@liberatoreZ although, going by first album releases, Gothic came out more than a full year before the Gathering's debut album. I always find it funny how the Lacuna Coil guys criticized Host more than any of the other big metal guys in this documentary, given the kind of music they've made. No disrespect to them, but LC have no right criticizing any band for being too commercial, given that they were pretty much going down their own "sellout" route in 2005 with Karmacode.

I don't know why Nick is slightly amused by his early vocals when their best work is by far, on their first two albums when it felt special. When he changed his vocal style, "Paradise got lost". Not to say their music is not great but it doesn't have that something that made this band so special 30 years ago

@@19megamustaine85 Not necessarily, I'm not against clean vocals when they work, I just cannot explain. Maybe because I started listening to Paradise Lost in the late 80's when they only had their debut album and that's the band I fell for back then. I have a similar thing with Metallica, love their work all the way to 'Justice for All', can't listen to anything after that
