  • In this video I show my first use of a "tool" designed to allow one person to reinstall a thrown skid steer track in a short amount of time. It worked great!
Here is where you can get a set for yourself: www.trackbarsy....

Thanks! I make these for my own benefit as well. I have had to refer back to a video I made fixing a cylinder once already.

Sad that you didn’t have anyone watching you and helping you 😢

No, I unfortunately work on my own in the woods. My wife keeps pretty close tabs on me and she isn't far away, but even so not adviseable.

If you would unscrew the valve nut completely off the grease will come out way faster and before you screw the valve back on your need to change the o'ring on the end. That's probably leaking the grease pressure down and the track will start coming off. I change mine about every 2 yrs if it needs it or not. Had no problems for a long time. Hope that helps. :)

Thank you! I appreciate the tip..as you can tell, I am learning. I'll get some O rings.

Yon know that you will loose the grease again, like I said,...it is a lot easer to take the valve all the way out if your trying to re-track the track and the o'ring's is a game changer. Good luck and a well informed video.🙂@@dalewcox

Couldn't you achieve the same thing with some 1" maybe 1 1/2" pipe? I'm all for innovation but 600.00 seems a bit steep for what they are.

I agree $600 is pricey, and do mention in the video that they could be made less expensively. I don't know how to weld (yet) and do like to support people who create something that helps. You probably could do it with just pipe, but the fact that it "clips" onto the track helps keep it in place, allowing for one person to do the job more easily, even though working alone (like I do a lot) isn't recommended. Thanks for the comment.

The bar is 1.75" in diameter, by the way. The three together weigh just shy of 50 lbs.

@@dalewcoxI am going to try to make my own. Going to the steel shop tomorrow anyway to pick up 1/4” for a lost skid plate. How I lost a skid plate is a great question. I’m going to start with 2” pipe and see if that works then just weld a 1.25” flat stock onto the end to make the hook. I’m not going to add the extra “fins” because I’m not sure they’re really needed. If this works it will be well under $100 for the steel and a few minutes of welding. If the 2” pipe is too big I’ll drop down to 1.75” and go from there. Might make a set for me and 2 for my friends with skid steers.

Would you mind telling me what the diameter of the round stock on those is please?

1.75 inches. The three together weigh just shy of 50 lbs.
