    Easiest way get the grease out is to use a board, tree etc cut to length and use the implement to push on the log etc against the front sprocket wheel. Basically use the "curl" of the machine to push the tract wheel in thus forcing out the grease.

    • @dalewcox

      I had seen that as well in other videos. I had also seen using tree limbs to get the track back on without releasing the tension, which I thought would be bad on the track itself, or otherwise apply undue stress on the rest of the track assembly. Any ideas on that?

    An excellent tutorial. Just purchased a 325G and expect to have to do this myself at some point. I’m going to order this set of tools to have on standby. There is a learning curve, no matter what you do in life, and this helped flatten it a bit for me. If you need ideas for future videos, one on servicing - and maybe some on operation of the various attachments you have - would be nice. Thank you for your time in putting this video together.

      I have a ton of video, just haven't put together the videos themselves. Regarding servicing, other than the normal stuff like greasing, etc I haven't done much. The machine has needed a bunch, like replacing the main drive hydraulic lines. When one of those blew it was fun. Talk about loosing hydraulic fluid in a hurry.

    Take that “nut” ,which is actually a fitting, all the way out. Stand on track and force grease out. Once the front idler is all the way back, take your Texas tooth pick thing and slide the track back into place. See if you can send those pieces of 600$ rod stock back.

    Couldn't you achieve the same thing with some 1" maybe 1 1/2" pipe? I'm all for innovation but 600.00 seems a bit steep for what they are.

    • @dalewcox
      @dalewcox 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree $600 is pricey, and do mention in the video that they could be made less expensively. I don't know how to weld (yet) and do like to support people who create something that helps. You probably could do it with just pipe, but the fact that it "clips" onto the track helps keep it in place, allowing for one person to do the job more easily, even though working alone (like I do a lot) isn't recommended. Thanks for the comment.

      @@dalewcoxI am going to try to make my own. Going to the steel shop tomorrow anyway to pick up 1/4” for a lost skid plate. How I lost a skid plate is a great question. I’m going to start with 2” pipe and see if that works then just weld a 1.25” flat stock onto the end to make the hook. I’m not going to add the extra “fins” because I’m not sure they’re really needed. If this works it will be well under $100 for the steel and a few minutes of welding. If the 2” pipe is too big I’ll drop down to 1.75” and go from there. Might make a set for me and 2 for my friends with skid steers.

    If you would unscrew the valve nut completely off the grease will come out way faster and before you screw the valve back on your need to change the o'ring on the end. That's probably leaking the grease pressure down and the track will start coming off. I change mine about every 2 yrs if it needs it or not. Had no problems for a long time. Hope that helps. :)

    I know this is a year or more ago. Look up the manufacturer for the thread locker used to see which number of their product is needed. Not to mention most of them require a heat soak to remove. I say that as a small amount is what's needed. Just wet the thread lightly, enough to engage but not so much it has to drip off. Mainly for the next time you might need to disassemble..

    • @dalewcox
      @dalewcox 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the tip. I have not had to disassemble anything yet on which I have applied Loctite, so hopefully when I need to I can! The blue is supposed to be released with significant force, whereas the red needs heat and force. I will say that I applied the red to a nut on a piece of equipment that was constantly vibrating loose, and on which I never saw the need to remove. That nut has not moved since!

      This is the only skid steer I have owned, I bought it used from a rental place, so it was fairly severely used, and I have had my fair share of repairs, mostly from it having been deep in mud at some point and associated corrosion from not having been cleaned out. Bottom line is I have in total about $35,000 into it at this point, and it shouldn't need anything but regular maintenance for some time to come, at least that is my hope. I am told if I wanted to sell it I should be able to get more than what I have into it. I love the machine, it can do a lot.
