I always believe that food stamps are assistance. They are not to pay for all your food needs. There will be times you might need to dip into the money in your pocket to buy other food items.
Overweight has nothing to do with it.This people had their food stamps cut off for the little extra that they have received monetarily.Yet here in Lake County Florida Food Stamps is giving a woman 300 dollars and her husband has a car shop.How is that possible?Fraud.Then again this woman was reported by alot of people and the department doesnt do anything to investigate her.

@BSagitarius maybe you should consider that those same people wearing name brand clothing may be getting it secondhand at yard sales, thrift stores, or from friends, relatives and neighbors. Just because you are poor does not mean you have to LOOK how people would perceive poor people to look, all dirty, disheveled, and wearing torn and tattered clothing. It also doesn't mean they have to turn down a gift of a video game console or other popular electronics they receive as gifts from others.
I would be more sympathetic to people on food stamps if I saw people use them the way it should. I work at a super market and I see about a hundred people a day who buy only junk food with their ebt cards. WIC checks work better in my opinion because you are only owed whatever is listed on the check for a specific amount of quantity (1 gallon of milk, 6 dollars for fruits and veggies, etc). If you're struggling to make ends meet you shouldn't be able to eat at a restaurant or anything like that either. Do you know how many people I see who use food stamps that also happen to have a iphone and other devices? Let me tell you, a lot. The people who truly need it and cannot honestly work should get food stamps, but there are way to many people who abuse the system and will always try to find the easy way out.

when i received stamps as a young single mom, i was lazy didnt cook spent $25 at convenience stores for one night of snacks and had all the latest trends in food. all my friend s woul bbq on the 1st. Now im off answer to no one abou my income shop more responsibly waste nothing and eat just fine. i dont hide or feel ashamed about my method of payment. The program is such an enabler for lazy entitlement for some- not all people

I don't think all people on food stamps are lazy. However I don't think you should get to the point where you depend on them for years. They were not intended for that. No one is obligated to feed your children but you. Some people have been on them for years.
There's too many people that I see on a daily basis abusing the food stamp system simply b/c they don't know how to manage their money or they simply won't work! Just last week I watched a couple get out of their Hummer H2, walk into walmart, purchase an entire cart of food, and pay with food stamps. I wanted so badly to say something, but I knew it wouldn't accomplish anything so I kept my mouth shut!

People who often make comments such as "get a job" don't know the meaning of struggle quit yet. They sit back and point fingers at those who receive these benefits and are so quick to call them lazy and pass judgement. Those people that make those comments are number one probably have a good paying career and are probably worry free or number two; receive the very benefits they look down upon and are too chicken shit to admit it. Either way no one should pass judgement on them.

The military is one of the express constitutionally valid programs the Fed operates. I lost my job and my Unemployment claim is being held up due to my former employer screwing up the paperwork and I am still told that I am not eligible for food stamps. Don't get me wrong I would rather be working and I have a summer job that starts the end of June but it cracks me up that I get to go hungry and even when I was working there were some months where the car may have broken down or something and I had to go hungry a few nights while people who get food stamps get to eat steaks.

Yes I live in a nice apartment but 60% of my income goes to rent. I live in about $1,000 per month. Many of the things I have are through hard work, financing, gifts or from when I lived with my parents. I used to make more monet one time. The recession has hit me hard. There are people who worse off than me.

I get food stamps and I have the same clothes for 3 years. I only have one pair of shoes. My clothes are hand me downs for my sitster,my mother and my FATHER. ( I am a woman yet have to wear mens clothes at times.) I just lost $14 in food stamps because I made an extra $10 per month that month
By the way because I am a full time college student trying to make my situation better I can not get into low income housing. In fact most apartments don't like to rent to college students. I am getting a Master's Psychology so I have not given up or just lived 100% off the system. So what I get a little help but it is because I have a disblity. I dont talk about it much but it effects my ablity to work full time under flurscent lighting. I pass out. I just hate ignorance!
