    Maybe I'm old school but Honda and Toyota hold their value MUCH better than any of the other competitors so I am willing to spend a little more in the beginning knowing I can recover more of it in the end.

    Honda’s history for reliability is what it offers that most other car brands don’t have.

    I had the previous gen CRV and now have a Passport. I think Honda seems to have done a really good job with this CRV. They fixed what needed to be fixed and stopped there.

    I fit in with Zach’s preferences! They ‘actually’ have demo 2023 crv hybrids at some local Seattle dealers and I drove one recently. So much love 😍 for this car. The 2022 RAV4 is noisy and cheap feeling. I don’t care for ventilated seats or a panoramic roof. This was gorgeous, comfortable, quiet, with fabulous ride quality and love the heavy feel of the steering. In the US it’s under 40K for Sport Touring so I’m off to find a dealer that isn’t asking above MSRP…. Your mileage may vary but it’s worth the price premium for me!

    • @Glad2BGolden
      @Glad2BGolden ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree and I was stunned at the quality, fit and finish. Very tight and well put together vehicle. I personally wanted ventilated seats and a pano sun roof and spare tire but for this vehicle I can buy a spare and store it on the roof rack. I have driven both the RAV4 and Lexus RX 350 and both did not impress me as much as 2023 CRV Sport Touring. I got an offer at MSRP. But found one $3,000 under MSRP.
      My only concern is the reliability of the hybrid system.

    Before we got the new CRV this week the only stuff my wife liked the style of were the CX5, GV70, Macan, and hated hated hated the last CRV as it reminded her of some kind of shrunken van. She got the EX-L black exterior gray leather interior which looks pretty classy. The car drives great and power feels more than adequate around town and merging/passing on the highway. Love this new car

    My mom finally traded in her 300k mile 08 Pilot and got one of these delivered this past week. So far it’s been very nice, price is steep but a lot of driving is for her job so they helped out with an early Christmas bonus. She got the Canyon River Blue metallic and the paint is gorgeous!! No orange peel I was surprised! Like you both mentioned the CVT is much improved and isn’t very noticeable during regular driving. She got the EX-L (in the US) and Honda brand loyalty played a BIG part in this. We had the Pilot since new and it never broke down once, never saw a single flatbed. She was happier throwing another dice with Honda than trying something else. Keeping my fingers crossed that this CRV treats us just as well

    • @hellokittylight
      @hellokittylight ปีที่แล้ว

      How is the car treating your mom? I just recently purchased one without realizing the lawsuit going on for the oil dilution problem, and I’m freaking out. It doesn’t appear there’s been any fix to this issue for the 2023’s other than a software update that warms the engine faster. Though there’s no thermostat on dashboard to indicate whether the vehicles reached operating temperatures.

    I was one of the 1st owners of the 2019 rav4 hybrid limited. For my wife and I, having the 360 camera for awhile now I would say it’s a game changer . To know exactly where your car is….you’ll never go without it. With our changing climate, even in Canada, try driving through BC in the summer and you’ll wish you had cool air coming through the leather seats. I was a loyal Honda/Acura person until the pricing and quality didn’t equate…I had to change.

    I hope Honda has truly resolved the "oil dilution" problem that has plagued this same engine for 2, maybe 3 years. Hopefully some owners of 22-23 models with this same 1.5L turbo can comment after putting miles on it whether they can say it isn't a problem 👌...or is it still an issue? ☹

I think combined leg room (ie add each row legroom) will provide better understanding of leg roominess as seats move forward and backward and people apportion that space accordingly. I have had my 2023 exl awd crv for just over 3 weeks and I LOVE it. I have the urban gray pearl and get compliments all the time on how good it looks. It's SO comfortable and I love driving it. I've never met anyone that actually uses a sunroof (much less a panoramic), ventilated a seats are a nice to have but definitely not a need by any means for me, and I'm still not sure what the practically of a 360 camera is.... any ways, the reliability I've had with honda has been amazing and I expect this one to serve the same. I feel like this car was made for me and I don't have to worry about it blowing up on me.

    • @borg111
      @borg111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 360 camera allows you to see how close or far your car is from its surroundings. A great example is parking. How far are you from the curb or someone else's car in a shopping center's parking lot helps tremendously. I have a 2022 CRV-L and I didn't see the need for a 360 camera until I rented a Lincoln Nautilus with a 360 cam while my car was in the shop. Parking anywhere has never been easier! You won't see the relevance until you experience it for yourself.

    The 2023 CRV-L gains and loses features from the previous 2022 model, which doesn't make this model better, just different. I prefer the 2022 CRV-L. I don't want to give up: fog lights, easy to reach latches to drop seats, seats folding down flat, and rear passenger usb slots. All these are available in the 2022 trim. If Honda kept these features and added what they did with this new model, it would have felt like an upgrade.

    This is a big improvement in design over the last CRV. It would be my second choice behind a hybrid Mazda or first choice if Mazda doesn't make a hybrid, CX-50 or CX-5 when I'm ready to buy one.

    A 2023 Sportage top trim is cheaper, more fuel efficient, way more options, more space, better standard warranty, better looking inside, did I mentioned the curved screens, panoramic sunroof, etc. ? The CRV interior is just too sober and dark and cheap.
    I have a 2022 Sorento SX, and for the money you pay, I couldn't find a better deal. For 2k more I got 10 years 200k warranty.....I mean....the CRV might be more reliable (even though is not made in Japan)....but KIA/Hyundai are not far behind.

When I drove my 2023 Honda CRV on the Michigan interstates in January I found the newly designed, in blade, windshield washer system, basically cannot cope with the salt spray from the big trucks. My 2017 Honda CRV (I already miss it) did just fine in the same winter conditions. It seems to be a fundamental design flaw the dealer cannot fix.

    it looks really solid for those that want a theoretically reliable vehicle but are tired of Toyota's extremely dated interior. It's more of an in betweener for those who want a more premium vehicle but don't want to pay for a luxury brand. At the same time it is missing features that other lower priced competitors have, so will be curious to see how successful it is. Personally, I've had too many expensive problems with 2018 and 2019 honda's to consider buying one again any time soon (although I didn't have a CRV).

    Another great review video. Here is a suggestion for future reviews, which is a concern for our family - add a discussion item addressing the room available for three adults to sit comfortably in the 2nd row of seats - just how much seat width is there. We don’t want a large SUV, but a mid-size SUV that can seat three adults comfortably in the 2nd row. Too many SUVs are too narrow, making seating of 3 adults in the 2nd row quite uncomfortable. An SUV we are seriously considering is the Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy. But we also have the need for a vehicle that can handle long freeway driving AND off-highway dirt/gravel/muddy and rocky back roads, where one of our daughters lives. So, it is a real challenge. We also want gas, not electric. Just having fun here in California. Thanks for your wonderful reviews.

    As a happy CRV owner, Honda has made a huge mistake in Canada with only offering the hybrid on the top trim model. The RAV hybrid is $16,000. less than the comparable CRV, my next vehicle will be a RAV. I think Canadian Corporate Honda big wigs have been having to many 3 martini lunches.

    • @alvinsimba734
      @alvinsimba734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was telling to some people on here but they have deaf ears. I was even comparing with toyota. Toyota does have more trims in their entire lineup compared to Honda lineup. The toyota hybrid trims are offered on mid trims not top tier. I can bet their civic hybrid will be on touring trim and they did this with honda accord hybrid only on top trim... so those example alone will get more sales from competition

    • @gs98999
      @gs98999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t compare the LE rav hybrid to crv hybrid and say it’s same. Difference is much smaller trim to trim.
      Also it really doesn’t matter one bit that rav is cheaper when you simply can’t get one today or next year. I’m convinced Honda will introduce the LX hybrid base once you can actually get one of them in a reasonable amount of time.

    • @alvinsimba734
      @alvinsimba734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gs98999 ok you may say that. Honda generally has been more expensive and across their lineup they don't even have enough trims compared to Toyota. I know toyota has their problems just like any brand but when it comes to selection toyota offers more value in terms for trims and the brand knows their customers very well. Honda is playing catch up and a good example is the civic and they just added blindspot monitoring here in canada for the 2022s whereas all competitor already had that feature. Even my 2020 corolla LE even has that standard and their hybrid trim is in the middle trim not top trim. Honda civic hybrid is not there yet but once it comes available I can even bet you with my life knowing Honda they will put it on top trim or known as touring trim which will be their Achilles heel. Honda has already lost opportunities and another example is HRV top trim charging $36k plus before taxes and it comes with no rear cupholders.... like wow... and it's rival the corolla cross has almost everything and cheaper price. I don't care too much about corolla cross because it kinda reminds me of my toyota matrix which on gas compared to my current corolla its almost night and day. Another blunder from Honda is their accord and again why put hybrid on top trim... any sensible human being will go to competition and toyota does not offer hybrid on top trim rather in the middle trim. I almost thought of getting a honda product in 2020 but their pricing for what you get it's criminal. Been in canada in almost 20 years and I was in South Africa back in June 2022 and quite honestly thats when I realized how small Honda is on the Market and toyotas were everywhere and that says something and also why honda products are generally expensive compared to competitors. I can go all day about it. Honda will get swamped soon and they even partnering with GM in 2024.... the info is on there.

    Two thoughts about the gas only CRV.
    First the 1.5 litre engine has had problems in the past with oil dilution (gas getting in to oil), especially on short trips. Does anyone know if they have got this under control yet? I know it's a theme on all direct injected engines, but it seems the 1.5l turbo has the problem worse than others.
    Secondly:The base 2wd crv is the money as the awd hybrid Rav4. Entry level value is a big concern for alot of people. The top trims are comparable in price, the Rav4 is more but you get more too. Best way to get leather on a Rav4? Get XLE with premium package 37ish before tax. Vs 43 for the exl CRV or Limited Rav4
    The best CVT transmission in my opinion is the one found in the Toyota hybrids. No belt and pulleys to slip and wear out plus a huge span of ratios the car can choose from. And before people say "it's not a cvt", farm tractors use a similar set-up but use hydraulics in place of electric motor/generators and they have no problem calling those transmissions cvt(or ivt). I wonder how well a hydraulic version (like a tractor) would work in a car....

    Nearly a decade later, CR-V is still missing key features the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk’s had since 2014-15 including pano roof, ventilated seats, V6, low range, decent towing capacity. If only Fiat didn’t ruin reliability…although my 2018 Civic Sport Hatchback hasn’t proven any more reliable than the Jeep! Maybe it’s time to consider Toyota or Hyundai/Kia? I use my ventilated seats all winter in Alberta since my wife likes the cabin much warmer than me.

    It's not surprising Honda is playing catch-up in the EV market (especially in Canada). It's the same with their motorcycles too. They are always behind the competitors bringing new technology to market. My last 5 vehicles have all been Honda and I was disappointed to see the Hybrid only offered in the top touring trim. I'll wait another couple of years to see how their EV lineup expands!

    Any new redesign car is more expensive on the first production year.
    2023 CRV understandably has to be better than 2019 design RAV4.
    While the quality leading is with Toyota, (Honda not far behind) Honda always has been little more sophisticated, advanced design, easier trimmed models and more fuel efficient.
    2023 model year l would definitely choose Hybrid model.
