I am building a quad and will be using the NazaV2, the Spektrum DX9, and the AR8000 so your video will be very beneficial when I get to the point of setup. Thanks for a very clear and complete tutorial. (Most TH-cam tutorials are pretty useless.) Great job.
Very well done. I have watch numerous videos and I really appreciate the in depth instruction with each tab of the software! I subscribed and am looking for the 2nd video now.
thanks nice video and very well explained..i did all these steps without any issue but when plugging in the naza to the computer is says gps not calibrated with error 27...so what does this mean??
Hello.I have a frame like the one you have and I have4-1400Kv motors and do you now if I can put for more motors on there a total of 8-4 on top and4 on the bottom will that be to much I have 10inch props and a 2 servo Gimbel with the go-por do you think that will fly that way? Thanks Rodney
Hi mate, my DX9 doesn't work with the Naza assistant, I mean it's working normal with the F550 but doesn't work in the app to setup... Do you have any idea whats happening? Thanks in advance for the help.
Did you not set the copter to go into Failsafe when the TX was turned off or loss of battery on TX? Why Not if so. How do you do it with the DX9? , you explain things very well. Is your other job a police officer or lawyer? Also wondering why you set the failsafe on the same switch as your GPS / ATT ?
Michael Gomez We did set it up to failsafe with radio loss, but its a little complicated with Spektrum so we made a separate video covering that aspect. th-cam.com/video/hXQkWi9Av_M/w-d-xo.html
AGL Aerial Video Solutions Oh ok , did some general youtube searches and did not see it , but found one and got it taken care of. I have been told that it is not good to have the failsafe on a TX switch because of accidental use. What are your thoughts on that. Thank for posting this one.
Michael Gomez I think that is irresponsible. If you have this capability why not be able to use it. We always program a true failsafe in the case of radio signal loss, and a switched failsafe in case we loose orientation or just need to get it back. It's there just in case. We usually set ours on a 3 position switch and the closest position is FS because as you get scared or tense up because something bad is about to happen then you should naturally pull that switch towards you and the FC will take over while you try to calm down. Then if you want to take control back you just cycle through the mode switch and you have control back.
I am still using the Spektrum DX7 First Generation Transmitter, is there a way to configure this to control the Tilt? I have an F450 and F550 witch both have the Zenmuse H4-3d Gimbal. Do you have any mods to have a potentiometer attached to this DX7? Thanks.
How did you get the software to connect to the Naza controller? When I try it in Windows 10 it can't find the FC! I asked those idiots at DJI how to get it working in Win 10 and they said to use XP! I haven't used XP in years!
How do you change the position 2 of the switch? I have position 1 adjusted to gps and position 3 adjusted to manual, but can't figure out how to make position go to attitude mode, it's just right of it on failsafe.
First check your trims and make sure that they are all neutral. Then check your sub trims to confirm the same. Once you did this go back through the radio calibration under the basic tab on the Naza assistant software. If this doesn't correct your issue then try rebinding the Rx to the radio with everything centered.
No Naza will govern the throttle for you. The throttle stick with these system is just meant to control your altitude. The flight controller will govern the throttle needed.
Can you help me with my quadcopter its got the Naza m2 to my spectrum Dx7 7000 with the GPS I'm new at this and I'm willing to try to do it my self I just need a little help on some things.thank you much..Rodney
Rodney Hendrickson Is it a new DX7 or an older one? The newer DX7s have the same protocol as the DX9 in the video so it should flow the same way. If I remember correctly the older DX7 has the same protocol as the DX8s so it looks a little different than the 9 in the above video. What are you having trouble with?
4. When to do re-calibration (1) The flight field is changed. (2) When the multi-rotor mechanical setup has changed: a) If the GPS/Compass module is re-positioned. b) If electronic devices are added/removed/ re-positioned (Main Controller, servos, batteries, etc.). c) When the mechanical structure of the multi-rotor is changed. (3) If the flight direction appears to be shifting (meaning the multi-rotor doesn’t “fly straight”). (4) The LED indicator often indicates abnormality blinking when the multi-rotor spins. (It is normal for this to happen only occasionally)
I'm having trouble connecting my f550 using the black edition spektrum dx9, after I plug in the USB to the led the green light stays solid only for about 4 seconds and no light turns on. Please help..
I've never heard of that issue. I would assume that since the LED turned green then the computer recognized it and the drivers are thus installed. If you haven't already, then plug the NAZA back into your PC and reinstall the DJI driver. If that doesn't work then I would get on the DJI forums. That's a new one on me..sorry
Hello i have a problem:i connect the battery, bind with my spectrum dx7s and then connect it to the computer with the cable that it came.I open the program but it doesn't detect it.i tried in another computer and the same results. What can i do ?
Hi I am having a problem with my naza v2 I crash recently since then when I switch to return to home it take about 20 seconds before it respond do you have a video showing how to fix it to respond faster
Thanks for the great video! However I can't help but notice that your GPS mount position setting is a bit off, I think it should be -3 cm on X and -2 or -3 cm on the Y axis. This is just pure eyeballing only based on what I can see from the video. But I could be wrong :)
Hello, My receiver(AR8000) says it is bound to the controller yet my controller(DX9) is having no effect on the quad copter. Do you have any recommendations?
If the Sat Rx is installed and bound as well, then hook up your Naza to your PC. Once it all connects got to the radio tab and make sure that the Rx on there is set to traditional. You should see the radio inputs at that point.
question about failsafe. lets say the transmitter goes out of range or gets interrupted or turned off. how can i get naza to go to failsafe when my dx6 turns off during flight?
Set up your mode switch with one position on FS, then rebind it with the switch in FS mode. We plan to do a video in the morning to address this more clearly. Thanks for the question and look for that video tomorrow evening.
AGL Aerial Video Solutions ok so i mixed in a two position switch to my 3 position flight mode switch(gps/atti/man) to get a failsafe read. are you saying to bind with the failsafe switch activated, or set up with the assistant software for my flight mode switch as (gps/atti/failsafe) and then bind? i appreciate the help boss!
With the mix you have you can simple put the switches in the FS position you already programmed and rebind. That way if you loose radio link it will go into FS. You can test this on the bench by turning the radio off while in the assistant software to confirm.
AGL Aerial Video Solutions ok so i have figured it out. the ar610 rx that the dx6 came with is only capable of a preset failsafe in the throttle channel. list of spektrum receivers i have found that has all channels capable www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1816661
Alex Skaggs here is a link to the fail safe video we are uploading now. It should be finished within the hour. th-cam.com/video/hXQkWi9Av_M/w-d-xo.html
It's a 3D printed protector for the GPS puck. If you flip, or crash it should protect the GPS. It also helps with multipathing from the 1.3g video system while the quad is on the ground.
I been flying with the naza mv2 on all my quads, and my flying buddy all so, over 5 yrs now we find out tha DJI well not suport the naza m v2 , im not able to use the program to ck my quads now , so I am going to change to the pixhawk controler, DJI just lost 2 customers
Hello, is some one familiar with the _''30 amp afro esc''_? I'm using the NAZA lite as mc and spektrum DX6i as receiver. Im not able to set up de esc with the NAZA lite. is the any special way of programing them? Greetings from Mexico!
You forgot one important setup step that almost every multirotor pilot wants - In the Aircraft Option Menu with the Gyros & Pitch Curve Menu you forgot to click on the Airplane Model Image and change it to the Quadcopter Image. :)
Good catch freemarlochip, I'm gonna make a short follow up video to cover the different fail safes with Spektrum, and I'll add that as well. I'm doing the Futaba video next and possibly a Turnigy 9XR version as well to cover the gamut.
my naza mv2 program well mot work at all, it well not read any thing from my naza mv2, I,, was told that DJI well not suport the program any more, ,, is that true, I have a 680 hex with all the good stuff from DJI, ,on my hex, gimbel, ISOD , way ponts I fly FPV, with the hex, not now, do not trust it, and I have a 50 Quad all so with the naza m v2 on it all all so,, can yyou tell me how i can get the program to talke to each other ???
One important thing you did not cover is setting up the naza so it automatically goes into failsafe if the signal is lost whether it is from excessive distance (Between the tx and rx) of if the radio (DX9) is shut off. I saw one idiot walking backwards trip over a curb.....his radio went flying, hit the ground with all the batteries coming out. Without setting this up the motors simply shut off. In this guys case his 680 quad fell from the sky @150ft onto a car in the parking lot. Was not pretty.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I found it very informative and easy to follow.
Ray Wyatt Thanks for the comment. We have a list of other videos that we are looking forward to doing very soon.
I have the Naza V2 GPS and all it comes with thanks Rodney
Excellent piece. Thank you. Clear and thorough.
That was an excellent tutorial and very well presented. I found you very easy to listen to. Keep up the great efforts and greetings from Arizona.
Thema inproblem Thanks
Very well done. I have watch numerous videos and I really appreciate the in depth instruction with each tab of the software! I subscribed and am looking for the 2nd video now.
We just finished filming the Futaba one and have it being edited together now. We will get the update on the Spektrum fail safes in the morning.
this really helped me a lot to set up my Hexacopter.
I'll be following your video once I can get the software.
thank you very much you help me more than you think. Cheer!!! Mike
Nicely done!
Outstanding video! Thank you Bro!
thanks nice video and very well explained..i did all these steps without any issue but when plugging in the naza to the computer is says gps not calibrated with error 27...so what does this mean??
thanks for the great tutorial.
Hi ya, few years later, I have a v2 but motors will not spin , done calibrating ect but nothing ? Any ideas please ? Paul
EXCELLENT VIDEO THANKS

Rodney Hendrickson Naza V2 will not properly run an octocopter. You need a DJI A2 or WooKong for that.
How can you fpv your gopro to the dji app using the naza v2
Hi mate, my DX9 doesn't work with the Naza assistant, I mean it's working normal with the F550 but doesn't work in the app to setup... Do you have any idea whats happening? Thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks! Just completed the build of a Tarot680PRO, and this video was very helpfull to get a correct setup for the NAZA FC and Spektrum transmitter.
What receiver you're using ??
Is possible to connect dji naza v2 with dji air unit ? I don't find the way, I do have dji iosd , please help me !!

What is the measurement for the X, Y, Z axis for GPS location to the unit in? Millimeters or inches?
Thanks for the video! Good job question shouldn't you bind at mid stick for fail safe?
No Naza will govern the throttle for you. The throttle stick with these system is just meant to control your altitude. The flight controller will govern the throttle needed.

Thanks I am doing the setup now per your video it helps out allot! Can't say thanks enough..

how far your drone can fly before failsafe activate???
Good stuff.....
is the set up on the spectrum dx6 the same programming you did on the dx9 naza v2 thanks.
Richard Donoghue It is on the new DX6, the black one. The older DX6i has a diefferent protocol though.
Does the compass calibration need to be done before every flight or is it just for initial setup?
4. When to do re-calibration
(1) The flight field is changed.
