I married in 1975 in a friend's beach front in Aspendale in Victoria. My dress was a Laura Ashley dress in a light floral fabric. I had so many of that type of dress in those days❤
Janelle when you showed your haul with this sheet I commented to make this dress first and you said you had to find the right trim. Well, you did and so worth the wait. It is gorgeous you look beautiful in it. It is a happy dress. Be prepared when you wear this dress for longer gazes and head turns. How satisfying when someone complements you to be able to say, "thank you I made it". Love these patterns and they all look so good on you. Thanks for this dreamy viddy.
It's so perfect! I laughed to myself when you mentioned how you like an evening to think about how to best sew something. I spend far too many nights laying awake thinking about clothing construction lol 😁
Love the dress!!! You have inspired me to use a blouse pattern I like turning it into a dress and just wing it making tiers for the skirt !! Thanks love your ideas!!
OMG that is the most BEAUTUFUL dress ever! 😍😍😍 The fabric is absolutely gorgeous, and the trim takes it to the next level. No wonder you're delighted! Thanks for sharing 🙏
I absolutely LOVE this dress! From the gorgeous fabric to the cute trim and the style, it all came together beautifully, and the waist tie was the cherry on top of the sundae. It looks lovely on you, Janelle. Thank you for sharing the whole process.
It's so pretty!! The trim is sooo cute🤩 And you're right, maternity style dresses are the most comfortable ever. I don't regret buying big dresses when I was pregnant bc I still use them lots, and of course they'll be there if I have another baby!
So I’m in my 50’s and when I was in my 20’s we wore Laura Ashley dresses. I still have the bridesmaid dress I wore in my sister’s wedding and another one. They were so beautiful I just kept them. I was sad when her items went out of style. We use to wear her floral pants jumpers too. I can’t recall their proper name. Anyway it brought back memories to watch you make this dress. It looks great on you.
Beautiful beautiful dress. No one would ever believe that was a sheet. You should be proud of yourself! The lace and tie belt really make it look even nicer. 👗🧵🪡🥰
Hi Janelle! You have done another fabulous job! It's always a pleasure to watch what you would do with those beautiful fabrics you pick out. Definitely the sash added a magic touch the dress. Keep up the wonderful job! Happy sewing! 🥰❤🌻
I love making (and buying) large flowy dresses, and I always use a tie to cinch them in. It makes them even flowier and give impression there's a lot more fabric. I am in love with this dress 💜
This dress is so beautiful! You should tag Target on Instagram! Okay, who else is going shopping for maternity sewing patterns? Great idea with the waist tie. That detail means you can style the dress in different ways. That trim definitely gives me Laura Ashley vibes.
That came out lovely, the waist tie makes it more feminine and I agree that trim was perfect. I think you are single handedly getting me to fall in love with gathered skirts/dresses.
Wow what a beautiful dress and you really look so good in it. The colours suit you. I like the top without the trim and I think that adding the tie was a great idea. Thank you Janelle and all the with your travels to Japan xxx
Absolutely love how this dress turned out! You were so spot on with the trim and adding the waist tie 😍 there really is something special about a floaty floral maxi dress 🧡
I just love that dress. It looks sooooo cute on. I had several dresses of similar style in the 70s and just loved them. I think I'll find one of my patterns and make a summer dress from one this year!
I always make things like you do - side seams last. Much easier to put sleeves etc in than when you've got the side seams sewn. I've been doing it for yonks.
Love this dress, and the fabric has a sort of liberty of London vibe. I don't usually go for tiered dresses on myself, but the trim sold me. I also love the square neckline and ability to throw it over your head. I have mobility issues so I prefer the ability to slip on a dress. Also the upper back of dresses is usually too big and gaping on me so a lower line in the back is awesome. Great addition of the tie at the waist and pockets.
The waist tie suits you SO well. I am so amazed at the sheets you find! I have YET to find a floral sheet in our area. Truly a find since there is a lot of fabric in a king sized sheet and even in smaller sheets!
This style dress is exactly the style i loved wearing while pregnant. I would make a waist tie as well. Still love those dresses. Personally I like the casing for the elastic on the sleeve, its more comfortable in my opinion. but to each their own!
I love that you only makes things that you will actually wear and don't make items just to make a video about it. Your style is do defined.
That waist tie LITERALLY tied this project together. It looks phenomenal- thank you for another video ❤
Thank you!! 🧡🧡

Whenever I watch you sew it inspires me. I always sew after you sew.
You are right, this dress is so very pretty. I am glad you are venturing into wearing blue. It's such a pretty color on you.
So glad you made a waist tie. It just gives it a final touch of clsss. Well done.
Thanks! Definitely more my style with the tie 😄

This dress absolutely fits with that trim! And good idea for the waist ties ! Beautiful
just gorgeous!! it was great before the waist tie, but the waist tie takes it to a whole other level! and the crochet trim is def [chef's kiss]!

Yes do it!! Pattern hacking is the best 😍
I absolutely love that you show your mistakes too because we’re all just human and it happens I have actually sewn closed my pocket too
Well done! I think that fabric really matches your eyes too. Beautiful work as always! Thank you for another great video! 😊
What a beautiful sheet! The dress is very cute. Like the way you did the sleeve elastic.

I actually think leaving the trim off the bodice was a super happy happenstance. Love the tie too!
It looks lovely…I think the neckline is fine without the trim and the tie is nice too…

Soooo cute! I just LOVE the fabric, gorgeous!
Looks so similar to the dress I wore for the evening party of my wedding in 1974 but mine had the high neck looks lovely on you
I always make things like you do - side seams last. Much easier to put sleeves etc in than when you've got the side seams sewn. I've been doing it for yonks.
So gorgeous 😍 you really lucked out being gifted that pattern!
