    I cannot believe that I actually made this pattern, the short version with short puffy sleeves. It was even purple. Around about 1974 or thereabouts. I love that you are inspiring your followers to look at vintage patterns and adapt them to suit. It saves so much money and inspires their creativity.

    Watching this has just flooded my head with such happy memories. I remember all the dresses I made for myself, such lovely fabrics I was lucky enough to have because mum used to come with and wd frequently buy them for me. Apart from lovely florals one that sticks out in my mind was a lovely soft wool in a heather/ Wysteria colour. It had short puff sleeves, lined with purple and it had an opening in the back with silver buttons... it was short and I wore it with knee high, shiny black boots. I wd say it was 1966 when I started nursing. Thankyou for the memories. Your dress was gorgeous.

    I can remember being in sewing class when I was a teen sewing some of these fashions. I always loved patterns. You bring back that young lady in me who sewed from daylight to dawn. My Grandmother made the best cozy PJ's for us Granddaughter's from just scaps but they were the best....what I wouldn't do to step back in time.

      That’s becuz back then we had required penmanship classes, just like home economics where we were taught to sew & cook. Alas ..... now they don’t think social skill classes where you learn to take care of yourself are important, becuz they want to take care of you instead.

    This really takes me back to the 70's when I too was making my own cloths. The bane of my life was neatening the seams. Oh how much easier it would have been to have had an overlocker then!!! Interesting how much things have changed in home dressmaking. I used to send a great deal of time marking patterns using tailor tacks (threads) How much easier is it now to have erasable pens? Love the results you have achieved. Keep them coming.👍🏻👍🏻

    • @BrightAsAButton

    I just love vintage patterns- and because not as many people sew today, you can really find them for cheap at charity shops, as you know! Also, in Toronto, the Textile Museum of Canada has a sale once a month in their storage space, and they always put out vintage patterns at $1 a piece. I’ve found some amazing vintage Vogues. Lovely job!

    • @suek7086
      @suek7086 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Judy, I have been thinking the same except I am wider now and find the vintage patterns don’t fit me anymore. I used to pull them out of the envelope and sew them up, great fit. At 71 I need round back, full bust, sway back, adjustments plus I no longer have a waist. I am shaped like an ice cream cone anymore.

    I cannot believe that you use that pattern. I had that pattern way back when I was pregnant with my second child and made that as a maternity dress I made it as a dress and then as you did I altered it and made just a top and made a skirt to go with the top. I love what you've done with that. I'm hoping I can purchase that pattern,and you're going to offer it. wonderful job. Thank you, so very much😊

    I loved this so much I showed my mum and she burst out laughing - apparently she also sewed from this pattern back when it came out 😁
