Educational trips are very necessary to maintain the interest of the student. 6. Entrance exams are required to create the hype.

Iam a college student from Kashmir and I have always studied in government schools only and i can say by my experience that government school in Kashmir are always better than many of the private schools but now we are certainly experiencing a rise of private institutions in our division after 2016-17 and the level of government schools is also degrading and getting worse day by day,it is essential to look into the particular reasons responsible for this situation.

Delhi being the exception we can first of all try to just give more power to the teachers and principal so the local people can not suppress them and also they should make a base of students rather than making them memorise things also as it is not always the teacher who is at fault the students should be giving timely tests and more focus on them should be given. And extra curricular activities are good but shouldn't be forced on anyone but sports should be made mandatory
Along with every other step mentioned by everyone,i want to add another very imp thing that "washrooms should be clean and hygenic" .i myself studied in a gov school of delhi and let me tell you these schls have the worst washrooms ,period pads are thrown here and there and no water supply no floor cleaning nothing ,and imagine whole schl having a single washroom which is used by every girl in that schl cuz other washrooms are closed idk why .also girls cant use staff washrooms and will be thrashed if we use that clean washroom from which dettol fragrance is coming cuz it is that hygenic.teachers are very bad too they think ki bhed bakri h ladkia jo marji ho bolo
