@@Edu2503 I got what you meant, but I'm just saying he is still a petulant child even if he was sort of ok with Meddy at the end. I'm pretty sure as he left the court after the handshakes he said something about getting 'fired' towards the chair umpire as he walked towards the exit. It's not in this clip and you have to pay close attention to the very end of the full replay to hear it, but it sounded like he was still very much pissed at the chair umpire and threatening to get him fired just a minute after politely shaking the chair umpire's hand.

@@peterhammer6915 i thought the umpire handled this argument very well and was arguing reasonably. He just followed the rules, it's not his fault they start the shot clock automatically. I do think they could be a bit more lenient with these violations sometimes, however they want to be objective and in this case it was probably warranted. Stefanos had received a violation in the first set, also after going to the towel (and then going back to it a second time to put it away neatly). While the ump called the time violation, Stef ignored him, continued his serve motion and fired a serve. I thought that was hilarious. Ump gave him another first serve, Medwedew didn't complain. Clearly you could see Stefanos is in a difficult place right now, and playing his archnemesis Daniil didn't help.

Sfortunato Meddy.

Somehow I just like Meddy - he's so likeable, a fighter. Of course he plays differently - and it doesn't matter if others find his game boring, but I'd love him to finally & once again - win! I also have the feeling that something is happening with him, something is changing - harder shots etc. And he's Russian - so what? I saw comments yesterday that badmouthed Safiullin because of that - they came from Germans, typical.
Meddy has nothing to do with the war, it's Putin's own war.

He was successful a few times and that enticed him to try again. Also, he doesn't have the patience, composure, and endurance to play Daniil from the back - certainly not at the moment. I think he needs to attack the net to beat Medwedew, but he's got to do it more intelligently. His forehand is very accurate but doesn't have the blistering pace of Carlos', so he always needs to be prepared for a difficult volley.

Medvedev was the better player on the day and deserved the win. He served well and was solid from the baseline. He had 11 break points. As soon as that exchange happened with the umpire, you knew it was downhill from there. He already had a warning in the first set. You just have to watch the clock and not put yourself in that situation. Even then, if he had just shrugged it off and kept fighting, he could have won the 2nd set being up a break and all. Totally threw in the towel after that time violation. Double faulted on the 2nd serve, and then started shooting wildly and erratically from that point forward
