Thanks for sharing! I can’t believe it two years where have I been you have answered so many questions that I have been looking for for months . Thank you so much now I know how to make my own thought of that.👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍 I’ll keep watching for more. 😊
That was very interesting. I had been wondering how tedious it might be to solder filigree, but you made it look so easy. Great work! Thank you for posting😃
Just starting my filigree journey. Thank you for being generous with your information. Will you be doing any more filigree videos please? Many thanks 😊
Can you file any silver and save dust to solder or melting down actual solder into an ingot then filing? Fine or sterling dust would be easy medium or hard? So i can file say fine silver and use filings mixed with borax and thats solder? Im stupid, sorry!!
There are recipes for different alloy solders. Easy, medium and hard are the main ones used. For filigree I use medium or hard solder. I melt into an ingot and file, collect the filings mix borax with the solder and ready to use!
@@FiligreeArt My daughter and I are teaching ourselves from watching many videos. I also create jewelry but have a strong desire to create Maltese Filigree !!
Thank you so much for sharing. What kind of borax powder are you mixing with the medium solder filings please? What ratio of borax powder to solder do you use please?
Just being curious about a couple of things: do you hand file your homemade solder or do you use a metal drill bit then run over the powder with a magnet? Also, how long fours it take for you to grind down your solder ingot (size)? I’ve made my own and even with a drill bit, it takes forever!!! Love your videos and I’m in love with your narrations! What a lovely voice and gorgeous accent! 🥰♥️💕
After you’ve soldered the filigree wires with the powdered solder how do you clean up the piece please? How do you remove any excess solder? Or should all the solder be absorbed into the twists of the filigree wire and not clump anywhere? If you do clean is it with little bristle wheels? I’d really appreciate your help as I have no idea how to clean the filigree piece after soldering this way. Many thanks in advance

Using little solder would suffice without cleaning, it comes with experience. After soldering the item is pickled to remove the flux and oxidisation.
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing this. Do you know what the name is for the container you use to shake out the solder powder?
Thank you! We call it "burragira".. you can craft one easily with brass or copper
I'm sure you could also use an enamel sifter
Thank you! That was very helpful!
Welcome 🙂
