There are a few tricks to the process such as melting the silver first, then adding the copper. Stir the metal mixture with a carbon rod. The metal mixture must be cooled sufficiently before the zinc is added. This is due to the low melting temperature of zinc. It will burn and then alter the solder solution's melting point. A tell-tale sign is when the zinc smokes as you add it. After casting a bar, the silver solder is rolled into wire or plate depending on the need.

It'll take a little bit more work but you'll have complete absorption of zinc.
Alloy the copper and silver then roll out into a thin equidistant square then anneal and wrap the zinc with it and melt with plenty flux.

Yes. Reduce by 1/3 to 1/2 thickness or until it gets difficult to roll. Then anneal and repeat until it’s thin enough. A sharp chisel on a scrap piece of steel works well for chopping it up, it’ll dull nippers a lot faster than most things (that a jeweler uses them for)

Would be a waste of money Doing so the chemicals you need are deadly without very good ventilation you can die from the fumes. There is only a few dollars worth of silver in there better to sell it as spot silver if you don’t plan on using it
Yes, a cupel. It doesn't require chemicals. It's a material that will absorb the base metals. Watch a video on youtube about it.

Can the zinc in the battery be used?
It's cheap enough to buy in sheets or ingots. Don't endanger yourself over a few bucks. If you can afford silver, you can afford zinc.
