Sorry for the delay, I was able to test this again at 1.8, and it is much more difficult to see the focus breathing at 1.8. The depth of field is so narrow that it masks the breathing with blur. This is a handy workaround but I very rarely shoot that wide open. Thx for the tip!!!
If you have kiddos and they kiddo stuff which is moving around erratically, hold off on this one. I forget to mention I checked for any firmware from Sony on this lens and they do NOT have one, and I also tested this on my A7IV and it still breathes pretty heavily. I can make it work for my use cases but just be aware it can be distracting for video. If there is a v2 coming that would be cool or they could just fix this one. I suspect this is a common issue with 35mm in general, I checked the Canon L version and found the same complaints from users
I am not mad at you my friend, good decision. I am not a gambling man but I bet that 28-70 does not focus breath at all at 35mm. Let me know when you test it.
Dude your B-Roll Game is INCREDIBLE!!!!
Thank you Sir, I appreciate the feedback and kind words.
Does the focus breathing happen when you set it on 1.8?
@@AndroidDigest I think so, but just to verify I will test it tomorrow evening and report back to you.

Do you recommend getting it or wait for version 2 ? I mostly shoot my kids and family videos

I am selling my 35mm GM as a videographer. The focus breathing is pretty bad! unusable for me. Got my hands on the 28-70 today :)!

@@markthecre8tor It has none! I guess its the size of the lens that allows for focus pulling and no breathing.
