As much as I think youtube is great and does a good job of promoting quality content the sheer fact that scope isn't on 10m+ views is criminal! Thank you so much for putting these films out for us to watch, they're fantastic, professionally made and one of the few rare trustworthy sources of niche film making information online
I agree but it's an educational video. Our society is programmed for entertainment. It says a lot about what's important to people. Personal pleasure is what folks want most while learning is secondary. Sad.
Media Division is a masterclass in cine lenses. Taught me so much, thank you! Amazing gear to drool at as well. I genuinely think this is the best channel on TH-cam.
Found y'all recently. Been learning 3D for a number of years for various reasons. Recently got into photography/film with a solid second hand camera. Absolutely incredible presentation, and super informative at the same time. Not sure if I can fully appreciate how much effort y'all must put in but it definitely shows

Thanks man... that is kind of you to say. Of course I answer... having a great community with like minded filmmakers is what the whole channel is really about. Appreciate you hanging around with us.
Media Division!!!! You're back. I was worried you'd lose inspiration after the absolute masterpiece that was anamorphic 1 and 2 and for some reason you don't have a million subs. I was just showing my whole family those two videos. I can't tell you how awesome your creations are.
Thanks a lot man… don't worry. That was not my expectations with that subject. Still, we surely could use way more subs and views. Say sorry to your family from me.

Thank´s once more for your outstanding work! Even as a humble hobby photographer I´m always excited to see a new video from you. In my opinion this is THE cinematic channel on TH-cam that hardly can´t be bet. Wish you all the best!
You guys do such awesome work. I decided 3 weeks ago to buy the Dzofilm Catta 70-135mm for Sony to test. I love it so far as it's been time for us to move outta photography lenses. I will be picking up the 35-80 mm and probably even the 18-35 mm towards the end of the year. I will eventually move into a case of Vespid primes eventually. The combination of the two zooms and primes will be the direction going forward unless we are running and gunning.
Another extremely intriguing video from you guys. I rewatch the Anamorphic episodes just like I do my favorite TV episodes. I always learn something new and look forward to the next video! Cheers.
Thats exactly like we hope it would be... darn, I wish more would feel this way and we could do this full time all thee time. It is very rewarding for us on an emotional level, but you can't feed children with that. Very happy you enjoy

While a borderline 33 minute commercial...I don't mind in the slightest. I forget the previous episode (anamorphic?) where the big guns wouldn't loan MD a set of lenses for testing, for shame...a manufacturer making a decent product providing said product for review/education is splendid in this case. One day when I need a cine lens set...I'm gonna be reaching for a DZO.
Exactly… we couldn't have done this episode without a manufacturer offering their lenses… and they deserve a little love back for that. Thanks for hanging Frollard
@@MediaDivision likewise, thank you for passionately sharing what you do. This is a look into a world at such a granular scale that most people never even approach... Even just glossing over it.

Wow, very impressive episode! Are you guys still planning on making a video on vintage Leica R lenses? I really enjoyed the videos on vintage Canon FD lenses and Contax Zeiss lenses.
Thank you. Actually no... we don't owe a set and the Leica R (while good lenses) lack a good cinematic story to tell. Unlike the Super speed or K35 relations, there is nothing of that kind with the Leica R.
What an episode. I will be honest, I had an irrational fear of zoom lenses. I always found them cumbersome, inconsistent and 'slow'. But as most fears, it roots from lack of knowledge. I have been enlightened! Thank you for making this; The incredible production quality makes it a pleasure to watch, as always.
Thanks....see it this way: We couldn't have just bought or rented a cine zoom for the episode. Input and help from manufacturers is essential to give you everything around it... and for that, the deserve a test and some love from us
Another fantastically done video. Just the amount of work that had to go into showing the image through all the lens elements, that detail is very impressive!
Thanks Sam… it is based on the Same simulation we used for our SCOPE series and that made it much easier to pull off… took us "only" a days work. A long day that is.
The zollies used in Severance are a great example too; with just white behind the actor it gives a different effect. Also, great job explaining the complexities of zoom lenses. We going to see more of your Angie 28-70mm in action?
interesting... havn't seen that, yet. Thank you. We already did a test of the Angie in SCOPE Chapter Three. As a spherical lens itself it can't hold a candle to the ACEs of course. The very short focus through makes it a pain to work with. I rather use my Contax zoom

Also like the slight change from side to side. Combined with an orbiting track there is some lovely ideas. Sadly a little bit difficult to experiement with without the equipment

Thank you for this incredible quality video. I have found little good examples of dzo Catta-I in particular would like to use them on fx3 and am interested in the upcoming three zoom set for e mount. Do you know if the Catta (non ace) zooms are of identical visual quality?
Thanks mark... well, I never tried the e mount version, but it would be very odd, if the IQ would be different. I expect these to only differ in the rear group BUT I can't be sure of course
I am indeed a huge fan of yours.....is there some way at some stage to get kind of master classes....kein scheiss....you are believably german....would be cool.
Ich überlege schon lange ob man da was machen kann… das wäre dann aber eher in Form von Life-Broadcast. Es muss sich halt rechnen, und das ist das Problem. Der Channel rechnet sich so gar nicht.
Amazing Video, as always! I'm fan of the Fujinon MK zooms myself! But for the same price, DZO offers FF and also a great built quality... what's not to like?
Great work. Do you consider to take a look at some legendary old cine zooms, like Cooke Varotal 20-100 or Angenieux 20-120? May I ask what kind of lights were used on set? Thank you. Jan
Hey Jan... thank you so much for your support. Very much appreciated. And thank you for your kindness. Right now, we don't, simply as we don't have access to those, plus we like the idea, that people can get access to stuff we test. DZO was just nice enough to supply the gear. Lights: There are two Arri 4K HMIs (in the frame) and two Arri 4K HMIs lighting the "outside" behind the window. I am light by a massive beauty dish on a 1.5K HMI (not sure what the brand is).. looks like this instagram.com/p/CjV-oIdKvfE/ That is a lot of Ks, would have worked with a fraction of the output, but you can't really dim HMIs

@@christianmajeres9772 Why the hassle…? software emulation looks and works great, doesn't it?! … or are you planning to guid a whole cabinet with CRT… that would be so…… Sonic Boooom !!
2:43 "perspective remains the same", thank you! Can you please tell this to the tele-compression people? All lenses have the same compression, only the crop changes. A zoom perfectly shows this.
tele-compression refers to distance. If you move further away and zoom in for identical framing, the image "flattens"… also called tele compression. 24:29 shows this in action using a dolly zoom
@@MediaDivision Yes, but you are moving. Some people claim you can change compression just by changing focal lengths. This is a huge misunderstanding in photography. You can isolate the compressed part with a long lens, but it can also be cropped out of a wider shot.

Great stuff as usual Nik
Thanks Nick… wait for the next one… that will be the big one ;-)
Perfect video.well done!
Always trying… thanks man
I am indeed a huge fan of yours.....is there some way at some stage to get kind of master classes....kein scheiss....you are believably german....would be cool.
But i bet 90 %of the people watching the vids do not perceive the level of mastership.....
Ich überlege schon lange ob man da was machen kann… das wäre dann aber eher in Form von Life-Broadcast. Es muss sich halt rechnen, und das ist das Problem. Der Channel rechnet sich so gar nicht.
Great episode as always!
Thanks a lot TechnoPilot... and as always, thank you for your support. Hope you enjoy!!!
Amazing Video, as always! I'm fan of the Fujinon MK zooms myself! But for the same price, DZO offers FF and also a great built quality... what's not to like?
Thanks....I had the Fujinon MK in my hands recently... really light, but also a bit flimsy.
Feels like a movie, looks like one. Congrats
Thanks a lot man… appreciated. Hopefully we grow with each of our projects.
Excellent. Thank you!
Totally our pleasure Fuzzy
Wonderful video. Much appreciated!
Appreciate your kindness HipHop… thanks for hanging!
I like your videos, very quality product!
Thanks Ian… we do our best and try to improve with every episode
@@MediaDivision improve?) u are on highest level)$
The best position to improve from ;-)
The best content! As always!
Thanks Viktor… I wish more would feel that way
@@MediaDivision Me too! They will soon enough.
…unlikely … unfortunately
I am light by a massive beauty dish on a 1.5K HMI (not sure what the brand is).. looks like this instagram.com/p/CjV-oIdKvfE/
That is a lot of Ks, would have worked with a fraction of the output, but you can't really dim HMIs
Hi, thank you for your answer, I really appreciate your work (and your team) to deliver full scale of the facts regarding cinematic stuff in such a interesting way. Hope to get a new episodes soon. Jan
Absolutely… already deep in the works
Only watched this now, awesome as always! had to snort tho when i heard Guile's Sonic Boom attack from street fighter at 29:50! lovely touch!
Thanks Christian! You are the first to notice… guess that makes us "old" ;-)
@@MediaDivision thanks, aged in a good way! i just got my Mister FPGA setup for street fighter 2 going, a lot of fun. nearly as much as anamorphics :D
@@christianmajeres9772 Why the hassle…? software emulation looks and works great, doesn't it?! … or are you planning to guid a whole cabinet with CRT… that would be so…… Sonic Boooom !!
@@MediaDivision you figured it out quickly! i am running an old cabinet with an original Arcade CRT :D and street fighter looks lovely!
@@christianmajeres9772 NICE!!!
Most impressive is your studio 😄! James Cameron would be jealous !
Boy, I wish it was mine... its the Marmaldes studio/lights/robot as we say in the thank you part
@@MediaDivision maybe one day... 😂
But most important is that you can use it, not everyone has this privilege!
@@stephanes. Absolutely... and I am very grateful for that
Ahhhhhhhhh .... new Media Division .... (kicks back ... unfolds chair ... pops popcorn ... )
Thats the Spirit! Thank you for your support A51. Can't do it without our members
So the Letus Anamorphx must be double focused when paired with the Catta as well?
Of course... with ANY lens. But, not during a zoom
Great content! Do you still use the catta lenses? If so what are your long term thoughts?
Thanks… yes, every time we need a cine zoom. Most of the time we use primes
@MediaDivision what are your go to primes?
@@kapu2878 Usually my rehoused FD… but they are too heavy for handheld… so are the DZO Arles. We recently tested the Thypoch (aka DZO) Simera C. No PL option but very good for handheld as they are tiny and small
@@MediaDivision the simera-c looks amazing though not for every project from what I've seen. Lots of character!
@@kapu2878 I don't think so… they are pretty clean and straight
