  • 2023 Yamaha YZ450F vs 2023 KTM 450SXF back to back on an old school GP track! Two of my current favorite 450 moto bikes.
    The all new 2023 Yamaha YZ450F has been my favorite 450F moto bike with a 2-stroke like quick revving engine and mass centralization agility. Brad at RideWorx ( www.rideworxsuspension.com/ ) did the suspension on my '23 YZ450F. This '23 450SXF is brand new (about 1.5 hours) so the suspension and engine are still breaking in.
    23 YZ450F Lap Time 2:05.1
    The engine on the '23 YZ450F stands out every time I ride this bike! Such 2-stroke like quick revving and barky throttle response - can be a bit much for some and it can be toned down a little with the Yamaha Power Tuner app. The valving in the KYB suspension that Brad came up with for a Vet moto rider looking for a bit more comfort over the stock setting provides a more planted feel overall especially on the little chop and at lower speeds. Still good ramp up of damping force on bigger inputs and also better than stock over repeated inputs like braking bumps.
    23 450SXF Lap Time 2:04.5
    Like all new 2023 KTM 4-stroke models the suspension on these bikes feels stiff along with the chassis so lots of feedback for the first few rides (especially the first 1~5 hours of ride time). I did change the suspension setting for this ride by lowering the fork pressure and opening the clickers front and back which helped make the bike feel more planted and absorbing over the bumps. This engine has such smooth and easy to ride power - total opposite of the YZ450F - with quick but controlled throttle response that builds engine RPM's in a linear fashion.
    The YZ450 and 450SXF are both very fun yet completely different feeling bikes

    Does the aluminium frame on the YZ feel stiffer and which can you tune down closest to a 350?

      Yes the '23 YZ450F frame does have an overall firmer feel (little more feedback) compared to the 21~22 YZ450F's I've ridden. The KTM 450SXF engine has very smooth power with a less jumpy response at the initial turn of the throttle - perhaps no need for many riders to "dial it back" to a 350 kind of engine feel

    Witch bike feels taller ? tnx

      Both are tall but the '23 YZ450F feel taller - especially in the corners. I think the 450SXF feels better in the corners, especially flat corners

    If you had to pick ! Which one you favour or is more fun

      My son and I go back and forth on these bikes....both have such a different feel while riding them. The YZ450 is perhaps more "fun" in the sense that the engine has crazy quick throttle response and revs so freely and the mass centralization helps make the bike change directions a little easier

      @@adamrochester1 The mass centralization on the YZ450F (fuel tank under the seat) gives the blue bike a more agile feel on the ground or in the air

    Im so lost in what to get. Im normally a kx guy but want a change. Its either ktm 450 or yz450. Im 6ft3 slim build. I love the bike to be raw power and quick. I also like it where it wants to kick me off. Just off this what i have said im goig to let you pick a bike for me please and what you pick im getting as i cant make my mind up. Thanks lol

      The 23/24 YZ450F is so responsive to throttle and chassis inputs. The engine has 2-stroke quick RPM build that makes the power feel even stronger. The chassis is quick handling - agile in the corners and a little busy on the straights. If you like raw power and quick response hard to beat a YZ450F. The KTM (especially the latest 24.5/25 updated chassis) is a great combination of cornering and stability with the easiest to ride 60HP 450F engine (perhaps a little boring for you!). No wrong choice between a YZ450 and KTM 450SXF! And both have deals going on now!

    Wich bike feels faster in the straigh aways?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      23 YZ450F "feels" like the fastest 450F with almost 2-stroke like quick revving throttle response so it "feels" very fast and responsive (downdraft straight into the engine intake helps). KTM makes 60hp at the rear wheel of a 450SXF "feel" very rider friendly and easy to ride with such a smooth build up of power.
