My dad has read every issue of this magazine since 1990 and was so stoked when I told him about their TH-cam channel. I can’t believe he didn’t know about it 😂
Please keep up these shootouts!!! They have always been my favorite thing to check out, back when they were just in the magazine. I've always favored Motocross Action tests over all others. Keep up the great work MXA!!🎉
Josh, you went full youtuber in this video. Made it much more enjoyable in my opinion as these videos can get dry just listing specs and discussing performance characteristics.
What’s wild is the RMZ450 still keeps up in torque and is only marginally off in horsepower. Realistically it isn’t THAT much heavier. That’s nuts. Seeing that some of the newer bikes have less torque is absolutely wild.
after hearing the numbers its a joke to say suzuki is the heaviest and slowest, wtf. 56,9 hp to 57.2 kawasaki. and 241 lbs rmz and 239 kawasaki. guys thats nothing. if it had 48 hp you could say its slow but that sentence brings the wrong message at that lille differences
Technically the Suzuki is still slow, it hit 54.87 on the dyno last year without the “RM Army” edition Pro Circuit exhaust system. Also, Kawasaki was 234 last year and it jumped up to 239, it is also very heavy!
It’s just not a good buy IMO either yeah it’s a little cheaper but not by enough. For $2k more you get better engine, breaks, suspension and a starter , it would cost way more in time and money to do that to a RM.
I had a brand new 1994 Yz250 and it appears they made this anniversary edition look like it did. So freaking sweet. White with purple. That 94 250 was the best YZ I ever owned for racing hare scrambles the bottom end power was awesome.
Suzukis engine package is 🔥. And super reliable, they just need to dial the suspension, and loose some weight and it would be so good. No estart just loose the weight dial the suspension
Great Shootout Josh! As I watch all the bikes as a vet rider like a huge demographic I wonder how many people watching these Shootouts can actually use even have of these bikes potential in stock form? I own a KTM but know i wouldn't be faster on any of these models Because of my conditioning and talent level so I would buy a Suzuki. No need to spend $2k more. Plus when I pull it out to ride 1 year later I won't have a dead battery. 😊
@mototoad1242 I agree, I've raced suzukis since I was a kid and still own have a 2014 rmz450. I love my ktm but have had little problems. But not my Zuks!!!👍
Yes, it is way cheaper to buy, true. But must buyers fix shock and fork at least. With other words: if you have your Suzuki dialed in you can buy the other ones easily. Suzuki last few years it is mostly for the yellow lovers. Good point with the battery!
It's all down to personal preference there all good and fast and have there pros and cons just pick the colour you like or make and enjoye there all great bikes
Suzuki...best for all motocross hobbyriders. Easy to service and keep on cause same parts fits many ears. No battery and electric starter problems. Enduro use then different thing...
Poor Suzuki😂 I still love them but they gotta try harder, thankfully Kenny is waxing everyone but the Lawrence bros on a damn near stock RMZ, hopefully we get an update
Hi guys. Loved the shootout. I have a 2023 KTM 450 and I would like to know what suspension settings etc you used, and if they can be used on my 450 KTM 2023? I am an older novice rider. Cheers
I have the new KX450X model and I absolutely love it. The lack of power is painfully overstated. It's fast, very fast, it pulls like a freight train when you get it going. And I'm coming from my 22 450SR. The power hits different its much smoother and linear, also the bike is amazingly stable on the brakes and I find myself standing through so many more turns than I would on my SR.
@reedgalbraith6508 it has an o ring chain, and 18 inch rear as well as some ecu tuning it seems. They definitely could have done better but its still the best bike Ive ever ridden
@@reedgalbraith6508 Yeah I just saw the first reviews of the X and realized they did essentially nothing more than the F on an 18" rear with softer valving...and they want $10700 for it. No way, much better options
Is this an advertisement of all the aftermarket parts that I should put on the Yamaha. Where would I find an ad for all these parts? Wait, I found them on the pages of motocross action magazine.
They should mention that when you buy a Husqvarna it comes with 2 air box covers, 1 closed and 1 with the holes for more air flow which makes the bike much better.
14:55 Love it! The starting fields in Germany are often around 50% orange like they used to be yellow 40 years ago and we often say pumpkin cup. Would really like to test the orange and blue at one day same track to compare. My both favorites are 1 + 2 place, nice. It really drives me nuts to check the austrian spokes and can't believe after years, KTM can't fix that. How many years you guys are telling us to check them frequently? Com'on Mr. Pierer, we have the technology! Air forks: 3 pounds is really a number. As a (slow ;-) ) non pro self wrenching pay own bills vet rider (npswpobvr) chasing every minute between earning money, training, racing, wrenching, sleeping, driving highways and some call it family I really dislike it to have an extra thing to do so often. Which one is the most reliable 450 4-stroke?

I do love the Yamaha model it is excellent and it reminds me of the very first bike my father bought me as a kid. the color theme is awesome. old school dude. I would buy the Suzuki I prefer a kick start bike. and a free muffler header and all minus 2lbs . your gonna mess with suspension no matter what bike you get every time you ride. I'd buy the Suzuki and it's cheaper.
The KX air filter is a worrying issue. Yes looks cool. But I feel it's a nit as good as they say. I'm a KX fan and look forward to the 2025 KX250. But if the don't fix that airfilter then I'll stay with my 2021 kx250
I just bought a crf450 due to no where having Yamaha. I was wondering if someone has one that has made adjustments maybe suspension wise to make it feel like my 2020 Yamaha did or any advice.
You don’t have to “detune” the motor of the YZ, just change your clutch setup so you’ll have max power up top, but more slip on the hit. More work but I mean it’s the best way to get rid of too much hit.
FOR YZ450 NOT TO WHEELIE, SET AT LOWER RPMS IGNITION TO -10 AND FUEL TO -3. OR FUEL AT ZERO, IF YOU WANT A BIT PUNCHIER LOW RPMS. CLOSE TO UPPER RPMS SET ALL EQUALLY CLOSER TO NORMAL, EXCEPT IGNITION CAN BE STILL A BIT RETARDED. FUEL AT ZERO- LESS TRHROTTLE RESPONSE, MORE TORQUE. FUEL AT -3 SNAPPIER THROTTLE RESPONSE, LESS TORQUE.
It seems unusual that the Yamaha finished first considering how many complaints you had about it and all of the changes necessary to make it “rideable”.
Still no TM? C'mon, MXA. Your pockets must be deep enough by now where you should've purchased one and included it in this shootout. Otherwise, consumers like myself won't know where ANY of these bikes truly rank.
@aydenrich262 There's a dealership here in Massachusetts just a few minutes from me that had TMs for years, but I just checked his website (Monty's Motorsports, Westfield) and now I can't find anything TM-related. It seems they've pulled back on their US importing. Either way, though, MXA is a huge name in MX and should've at least made an effort to get a couple (250/450).
