I started in 80’ driving heavy wreckers and in one cold Chicago winter I saw a flatbed driver break his face when a cheater slipped. I made a mental note “much easier ways to make a living” 42 years in a big truck and never once had the desire to drive a flatbed.Tough Gig for sure.
I ran flatbed for a year & a half. Never seen anybody fold a tarp that way.
I hired on at System as an experienced driver, no flat bed experience. I wanted to strangle the local guy that “ trained” me.
He was a twat ! Only thing he ever said was “ not that way”.
Didn’t learn anything with that fool. Another guy showed me more in 2 days, than the 30 year veteran showed me in 2 weeks.
BTW I’ve had a class A since ‘89.
Looking back 7 years later, realized how these trainers are over hyped. Some of them are dumb as hell, but the company talks them up like Jesus .
Some are that way, not all.
Graduated from CDL school 3 weeks ago and I got approved by maverick transportation a couple of days ago. I’ll be training at North little rock Arkansas for the glass division. Just currently waiting on my start date! Great videos by the way!

We always enjoy your videos. I'm in my 2nd week of CDL school. I would train with you if given the opportunity. We live in Asheville NC so I'm not sure Maverick is a good fit for me yet. I definitely want to do flatbed though. We really do enjoy your videos. For some reason we have to turn the volume up to 50 to hear you on our TV's though.We keep the volume down at 18 normally. We were wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or just us? Great show man. Safe travels
Thanks. Not sure about your volume. I've gone back and watched some on a TV and they had fine volume. Anyone else?
As a heads up, Maverick has a small terminal in Laurinburg, NC that also does securement training that I ended up going to. Also with you being right off i40, you'd probably have a pretty easy time getting home on the weekends.
Not sure why thus popped up for me, but ive never rolled/ folded a tarp like that, and have never seen anyone roll/ fold a tarp like that. Seems, quite unproductive.
It's 2 minutes faster than laying it on the ground and folding from the corners. If you se 2 tarps that's 4 minutes, four tarps is 8 minutes. It's much faster. You are watching a rookie do this. I'm much, much faster.
