    Engelbert is one of the great crooners with such a smooth relaxing voice. His career has spanned almost 7 decades. His first hit song was "Release Me" in 1967. He has had many great songs including "The Last Waltz", There Goes My Everything", "Am I That Easy To Forget", "A Man Without Love", "After the Lovin'", "Les Bicyclettes de Belsize", "Winter World Of Love", "This Moment In Time", "Love Will Set You Free", "Quando, Quando, Quando", "Love Me With All Of Your Heart" etc.

      He’s no crooner. He had a three and a half octave range. I’ve heard him sing opera!!!!

      Yeah crooner is insult to him, his range is off the charts.

    This was released in 1967, huge hit. I've been a fan of his since then. One of the greatest singers ever was a rival to Tom Jones. Many very good songs!!

      @@michaelasay8587 I like Sir Tom just fine, but I never thought he was as good Englebert…they are contemporaries. I’ve often wondered if Englebert had changed his name to something like…John Smith…hmmmm
      BTW, I’m pretty sure he changed his name TO Englebert Humperdinck at least from his given Welsh name. Which would have been pretty much un-pronounceable outside of Wales…lol

    He was popular about teh same time as Tom Jones, but where Tom could handle more genres, Englebert was more a crooner, he generally stayed in his love song niche, but yes, he has a great voice. Two songs which stand out for e are Am I that Easy to Forget and ... After the Loving

    • @facelessman6865
      @facelessman6865 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Englebert could fo any genre, I liked Tom to but he cant compare to eng is range tone or looks, back when they were in their prime, Eng holds a note for 28 sec in Love, a record.

    Have come back to this a number of times to enjoy the performances by Engelbert and you. Remember well when he smashed onto the music scene with this song and then The Last Waltz. He's a comical guy and judging by the ladies' reactions I think he showed that to them during rehearsals.

    When I was a kid, during Engelbert's heyday, my mom and sister were both crazy about Tom Jones. I didn't care for him back then but I liked Engelbert's songs. I was not paying attention to the words; I just liked listening. Years later, as an adult, I came to appreciate Tom Jones but Engelbert remained in first place because I paid attention to the lyrics in addition to the tunes.

    Another English person from Leicestershire, but has spent many years headlining on your side of the pond, however he's still working and has his own TH-cam Channel which he set up ⬆ think during the Pandemic as he couldn't work because his late wife had Dementia, she passed away fairly recently and I have a feeling he got her back home to England beforehand and he now lives back here as far as I know, he's had many hits and around the same age as Sir Tom Jones so around 82

    Engelbird covered and recorded this song in 1967. which became a hit in the UK... Engelbert was side by side with Tom Jones back in the day. The original was written in 1949, the most famous cover in the US was in 1954 recorded by Country Legend Eddy Arnold..Engelbird made it a number one Pop Hit in the UK in 1967

    Look up Tom Jones 'Love Machine' or 'Its Not Unusual' 'Delilah' to hear a big powerful voice of the 60's! He was a total unashamed player. And there was NO AUTOTUNE back then. You either had the pipes or you didn't.
