    Serious markdowns to get rid of stale inventory is something I really started putting more focus on in late 2022......and it's really helped. I figure if I get my initial cost back on those items, it's good enough at this point. Wishing you the best in 2023, Casey!

    Thanks Casey. You have viewed my store and know first hand that I have a lot of junk that's been sitting since before covid. However, I have a plan to clear out the majority of those for local sales to Mardi Gras riders. I will use your suggestions by selectively choosing the best items I have stored to help my slow sales and store sell through rate. I will also continue to send photos for your team to list while I purge the junk. I am positive I will have my best year ever in reselling.

    Isn't it ebay job to promote our items to begin with? Isn't that why we pay for a store? I have numerous items listed for years, once in a while one of them sells but if it's dragging my store down then what's the next answer? Mark it down cheap for a month and if don't sell still, just take out of my store? Just curious

    If you aren't running out of listing slots and you're not strapped for cash why would you want to blow out items just to break even or lose money? If it's storage problem then you might need to shrink your store to match what your level of storage is and at that point blow outs make sense.

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All good points but mainly because you could be selling faster and turning over cash quicker if you didn't have the junk dragging it down

    Good advice. I have items in my store that been sitting for years, I just keep lowering price and rasing promotion every 30 days or so on some of them but guess I better lower price even more or just donate it or take to the flea

    My problem is I cannot find new products. my old supplier stopped selling new products and only sell store returns now. I’ve tried many new suppliers and cannot locate one that I like that is similar to the one I used to use. I sell such a large variety. So I’m not picky about how I make money as long as I make money. 😂

    What would you consider a bad sale through rate?

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      a bad SELL through rate depends on what your selling. Under 25% is bad for sure

    Does eBay algorithm distinguish between items like vintage postcards (which can take a while to sell) and electronics for sell through rate?

  • @nonegiven5829
    @nonegiven5829 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What is a good sell through rate for a store with 1400 listings

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the items, but for slower to mid range saturation like clothing, shoes, etc.. its usually 1% per day so 14 items.. It USE TO BE THAT. Now people who get about half that are doing decent.. so 7-10 items a day should be selling. If you faster items like electronics, video games etc you should sell 15-20+

    So here's what's going on with my store... I have old coca-cola products that I listed and made a deal with somebody to receive those products, They really didn't care what I priced them at they just wanted 30%. Cool right? No. They have been sitting in my shed for a while now and I only sold a 6-pack and a be a pepper dr pepper mug. Very frustrating. I would drop them to a 50% sale but the issue is I am worried people will think it's so cheap there MUST be something wrong with it. Do you think it's truly worth it to drop it by 50% or should I leave them at their original prices? I have been careful to make sure I don't over price it or underprice it because of this issue. Also, I hate when people don't read the description of an item. I have a game case that is very valuable but I didn't have the disc for it so I listed it at half it's value. Someone purchased it! Received it in the mail, then all of a sudden they wanted a refund. I declined because they said it didn't include a CD. Well, duh! I clearly stated it multiple times in the description and title. Goes to show you should always read a listing thoroughly before purchasing it.

    What most of these youtube people don't mention about is, whether you're an ebay store or you're a brand using ebay as a selling platform. If you're just an ebay store, marking down products by 60% is okay, but if you're a brand on ebay, you can't price your unsold stock down by 60%, it will just ruin the ecosystem.
    The private sellers play around a different price point to companies/brands.

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Way to many factors to place a general statement like that out. Depends on the item, the cost of goods, the sales price, the competition etc
