Chisel 🤘. The best Aussie pub rock band ever. I've been listening to these guys since the 70s. Just saw them in October on their 50th Anniversary tour. Mossy is an absolute demon on the guitar, Barnsey is still bloody awesome even though there are a couple of notes he's not quite hitting anymore. Chisel are on my daily playlist. Now you need to check out When the war is over, from this same concert ❤
Oh you’re about to go down a rabbit hole, both of the group plus their various solo careers and collaborations with the likes of Tina Turner and INXS. Their version of “Wild Thing” is the definitive version and possibly the greatest live rock performance on TH-cam.
It still blows my mind that Cold Chisel isn’t massively popular/known outside of Australia/NZ. I always assumed they were, until the internet told me otherwise about 5-10 years ago. Absolutely criminal that Australia’s greatest band is virtually unknown elsewhere.
New subscriber here because you played the Aussie legends Cold Chisel. You can’t go wrong with Barnesy, Farnesy or Mossy! One day I hope you will know what that means 😊
The Guitarist/Singer Ian Moss and the other Singer Jimmy Barnes are phenominal together. However they have done solo work as well which is equally amazing. Jimmy Barnes scottish/aussie accent comes through pretty thick, but his range is unbelievable. He can go from some very slow and gentle crooning that will stun you to his more boisterous roaring thunder. His Soul, R&B, Rock and other styles are very clean and amazing to listen to.
Formed in Adelaide South Australia in 1973. Many albums as a band and also as solo artists. As a band they have just completed a national tour in late 2024! Thanks to a generous friend I was in the audience in Adelaide. Iconic Aussie band! 50 years of rock story telling!
I have seen Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes live many times over the years including recently. They have always put on one hell of a show and are true Aussie legends.
Hiya I'm a Aboriginal woman from Perth Western Australia and my people are the Noongah people of the South West region of Western Australia and i luv ur reaction to our great Aussie pub music and the legendary Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel... you gotta check out more of their songs like Khe Sahn, Flame Trees, Breakfast at Sweetheart and more ... Cold Chisel just celebrated their 50th Anniversary Tour around Australia and New Zealand... it's amazing that even though we've known them for 50 years ere in Australia 🦘🦘❤❤ you're just discovering our great Aussie pub music where other bands like AC/DC, INXS and more began their careers... loved watching you experience the great music makes all us PROUD AUSSIES that they were just OURS ..❤❤❤🦘🦘 Much love from Perth Western Australia 🦘🦘🌏🌏❤❤❤
3 more shows in New Zealand in late January will wrap up The Big 50 tour for Cold Chisel….. and still giving everything on stage….. they’ve just played to some of their biggest audiences ever in this country ( and that’s saying something)…. Because they’ve done some big tours here.
These lads grew up in a time where musicians had to cut their teeth in local city and rural pubs to get their name out. In those days you had to be good, if the drunk crowd disliked you there was a high chance that they would beat everyone up and drag them out to the outside footpath and possibly break their instruments if they were really terrible. They made their names and while they split for a time, they all remained good friends and eventually reformed. They do genuinely enjoy the touring as they have gotten older. They have a very strong ethic that they must entertain the crowd, if not they failed which is not in their vocabulary.
One of the greatest Ozzie pub rock bands fantastic catalog and the lead singer Jimmy Barnes, whom you may know from the late 80s / 90s he had a few releases in the UK driving wheels, working class man, One of the greatest Aussie song lyrics "pissed all my money up against the damn wall" Check out the Angels 1988 Melbourne live "will I ever see your face again?"
Cold Chisel initially broke up 1n 1983 and have got back together a few times since to do some tours and albums. They tend to do something together every 4 to 5 years. They are currently on a break on their 50th anniversary tour with a few shows in New Zealand to do. They are my favourite band and I first got to see them in 1978. Managed to catch the first and last shows on the Australia leg of the current tour. They are probably the most popular Australian band of all time. They never had a lot of success in attempting to break out in other parts of the world so aren't widely known outside of Australia and New Zealand.
Happy New Year. Thanks heaps for reacting to Cold Chisel, you should check them out performing “when the war is over” live Ringside 2003. Also check out one of the lead singers Jimmy Barnes doing a duet with another Australian legend John Farnham “when something is wrong with my baby”
Australia's finest rock band. Formed in 1973, quit and reformed many times and still going strong. Always full bore live. All five members of the classic line up wrote hit songs and there aren't many groups that can make that claim. I first saw them play in 1974, became an instant fan and play their music at least once a week on CD, as I wore out the vinyl and tapes many years ago. Do yourself a favour and watch Ian Moss (the guitarist) backed by Don Walker on piano, perform a magnificent rendition of "Georgia On My Mind".
Best Aussie Pub band There variety of songs are to behold Once you get hooked you’ll be a fan for life Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss both have long solo careers as well
Chold Chisel are Australian rock royalty. Cold Chisel have 2 singers. Jimmy Barnes is the main singer but lead guitarist Ian Moss often helps out on vocals. My favourite songs are Flame Trees, When the War is Over, and Forever Now. Their song Khe Sahn has been ranked by the Australian public as the greatest song in Australian music history. WE Aussie's are very passionate about our music. AC/CD and INXS are the most successful Aussie rock bands internationaly. Fun Fact, the Bee Gees were actually formed in Australia in the 60s, so we like to call them Aussie. Other great Aussie bands are Midnight Oil, Crowded House Sliverchair and Powderfinger. Just to name a few.
Welcome Jenn to the rabbit hole that is Australia's Cold Chisel. Celebrating 50 years in 2024 with an Australia wide concert tour which as always was epic. My wife and I saw them about 3 months ago near my home and yet again after all this time it is still one of the best live shows I have ever seen. All their hits live and perfection as they always give their fans 110% of the best time. They have a huge collection to check out so sit back and rock your heart out with our Pub Band music as it was known here. They are Rock Royalty here and will be a fun time viewing for you I suggest you check out one of their all time biggest hits "Flame Trees" Keep Safe Keep Strong Happy 2025 to you and yours 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Cold chisel are my favourite pub rock band of all time. Not many bands have 2 amazing lead singers. I think you would love Cold Chisel - When The War Is Over live from this same gig. Also plz check out a young Jimmy Barnes “a change is gonna come live 1984
In the 70s and 80s there were some phenomenal Aussie bands that were world class acts, but not well known outside of Australia. It was very hard for Aussie acts to break overseas markets. Jenn, I like that your video of the band was bigger than the video of you. So many reaction videos reduce the video to an eighth of the screen and have their own video dominating. Yours was done well. Also, not a bad idea to have the lyrics up, especially for live versions. On a first listen it is often difficult to pick up on the lyrics.
This was their re union concert in 2003 after they did their break up tour in 1983......titled The Last Stand . If you enjoy FERAL, pure, LOUD ROCK live then i recommend their live cover of Wild Thing in 1983......an Australian tour to say goodbye to their millions of fans.
Used to do the business in the back seat of my 76 Falcon with my GF at the time with chisels blaring out on the stereo. Got busted by the cops one night but that's a whole different story.
I'd check out the clips from their prime 1978-83 the albums from that period are the classics they broke up in 1983 and didn't reform for the best part of 15 years.
Cold Chisel is one of the great Australian rock bands. They have 2 lead singers, Jimmy Barnes (the one with the mike shoved down the front of his jeans) and Ian Moss (the one on lead guitar). Both have solo careers as well. As with most Aussie artists, live performances will be better.
Back for a second listen, now that work is done for the day. 🎉🎉🎉 Just to tell you more about this wonderful group. The guy walking around, singing backup, is actually their lead singer. That is Jimmy Barnes. He was only a teenager when they started in 1973. The guy singing and playing guitar 🎸 is Ian Moss aka Mossy. The man on keys is Don Walker. The guy on bass is Phil Small and on drums, Steve Prestwich RIP (he passed from brain cancer on 16th January 2011). The guy on Harmonica is Dave Blight, who plays for them but is actually not a regular part of the 5 piece band. Their first album was self-titled in 1978, five years after the began in Adelaide, South Australia. They perfected live music as you see here. Sadly, they called time on the band in 1983. Jimmy and Ian have had a successful solo career, but Jimmy has had quite a lot more solo success. They have reformed many times, and produced more albums and toured. Last year they toured again for their Big 5-0 tour across Australia and they are now gearing up for 3 more shows in 2025 in New Zealand. I saw them in October 2024 at Sandalford Winery. In Steve's absence, Charlie Drayton is drumming. Dave was there on harp, and Andy Bicjers played sax. Jimmy is the youngest, at 68, Ian is 69, Phil is 70 and Don, well he is a spiritedly 73 years young. They rocked the green for 2 solid hours. Man they are fantastic. It still brings back so much excitement months later Jimmy has had it tough medically with heart surgery x 2 and hip surgery twice too. He had been having surgery only in August 2024 so to be on stage was a miracle. Don't get me wrong He had a tough life, which he has written about. His books include Working Class Boy, Working Class Man *which is a solo song of his, Killing Time *a Cold Chisel songs, and his latest is Highways and Byways. He also indulged in the rock star life style too, but has a beautiful wife, Jane whom he married in 1981, and has 8 children, four of which are with Jane.
Another of the great Aussie pub rock bands. Midnight Oil - Blackfella/Whitefella / The Dead Heart (Blackfella/Whitefella / 1986) m.th-cam.com/video/3ErJbNFPnHE/w-d-xo.html This is a very special song. Black fella, white fella, doesn’t matter, as long as you are a good fella.
The Warumpi Band should get an airing too. They were probably the first Aboriginal/mixed race band to crack the “singing in language” barrier back around 1986 with Neil Murray, The Butcher Bros & George Rrurrambu coming off Papunya in Central Australia. Other Aboriginal bands were certainly out there & CAAMA in Alice Springs was busy recording/promoting Indigenous musicians but Black Fella, White Fella… was a hugely significant song orientated to reconciliation 2 years before the controversial 1988 Bicentenary & long before that concept got floated years after that. I was privileged to hear that band play twice within 3 days touring WA in ‘86. Still one of my most treasured live music experiences. 🙂
Best band ever…even ahead of AC/DC and INXS ❤ Jimmy barnes(blue denim jeans) 👖 Jimmy’s best vocals are “change is gonna come” Can u please react to Jimmy Barnes (blue denim jeans) 👖 and John Farnham (Barnsey and farnsey) Jimmy and John are HUGE ICONS from Australia Jimmy Barnes (solo career) “Working class man” “When your love is gone” “Driving wheels” “I’d die to be with you tonight” “Still got a long way to go” “When two hearts collide” “Bring it on home to me” Also along with John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes Also sings a song with Tina Turner (“simply the best”) Sam Moore (“change is gonna come”) this is Jimmy Barnes best vocals) and joe Bonamassa (“stone cold”) Mahalia Barnes (“gonna take some time”)Mahalia is Jimmy’s daughter.. INXS (“good times”) and Diesel (“still got a long way to go”)and Sam Moore(“soothe me”)and Joe Cocker (“guilty”) David Campbell (“you’ve lost that lovin feelin”) David Campbell is Jimmy’s son, Jimmy was 16 when David was born. David’s biological mum was brought up to be raised as his sister and his grandmother was raised as his mum Cold chisel “Wild thing” (duet) “When the war is over” “Khe Sanh (please react to lyric video) “Flame trees” “Forever now” “Rising sun” “Choir girl” (about a guy taking girl for a termination) “Breakfast at sweethearts” “Four walls” (about prison) “Ita” (about famous female Australian) “You’ve got nothing I want” (cold chisel went to the USA and met with music executive who treated them baby so they came home and wrote this song on plane)
th-cam.com/video/oTwqAeQR0rE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gyDv8qybGnaTDmcQ Hi, I'm a 72 yo from Brisbane, Australia. I'm so glad this turned up on my feed - haven't heard it for ages and it always turns me into the Energizer Bunny. Ian Moss took the lead in Bow River and forged a successful music career in his own right. The bloke doing the harmony , Jimmy Barnes, is lead singer and has also.... Well, to say he's carved out a successful music career doesn't come close. Jimmy is Rock royalty here in Oz. If you want to grow the channel, and I'm sure you do, I'm going to throw the door to the Oz music vault open a little wider, and the Aussies will turn up in their droves. I suggest you react to a duet with Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham, also Oz music royalty, "When Something is Wrong with my Baby". It also features Diesel, guitarist extraordinaire. I guarantee you'll love it, and it leads to an exciting bunny burrow. It's live - these dudes are all better live than recorded. I've put the link at the top so you don't miss it. You're welcome 🤗 Oh, and both Jimmy and John were born in Great Britain. And no, you can't have 'em back!😂
They were too hardcore for America and were asked to water it down for the US audience, Really, harden the fuck up. Chisel didn't need America and America missed out. Damn shame!
You need to do better than this if you want to build an audience. Opening with 3 minutes of chatter and apologies in advance about possible copyright blocks is not cool. Just get on with it! It's not enough to say you liked it, you need to say why you liked it. There was so much going in here, but you had little to say. You picked up on the harmonica playing and the unexpected guitar solo behind it - give the listeners more of this. There were several dramatic tempo and dynamic changes, and the quite unusual concept of two lead singers, yet you mentioned none of this. I like that you went back a little to preserve the continuity of distinct passages in the piece. This is fine, it shows you recognise the changes. Nothing wrong with a second, more analytical, listen to a passage either. Move beyond first impressions and tell us what it is that lit you up. Good luck and keep on with it!
Whatever I do or don't do I get comments telling me off and telling what I should or shouldn't do. Everyone has an opinion and you cannot please everyone. I am doing this for fun and to delve into and discover more artists and bands. It is meant to be fun not a chore. I am not doing this for money or for getting as many subscribers as quickly as possible. This should be a genuine reaction and not forced. I am not going to try and worry about picking up every little thing. It will spoil the experience. I start getting to the point where I don't want to press record because I start worrying about what I am going to say and that's not good.
Khe sanh Flame trees (avoid the live video and official video - Both are awful. Barnesy gets the best lines mixed up in the live version and the official video is old style and really dismal. A flame tree is a tree that turns bright vivid red in summer). My favourite. When the war is over Forever now. My second favourite no sense (about fans) Saturday night Choir girl You got nothing i want (about american record execs - chisel’s equivalent to Pink Floyd’s, Welcome to the Machine). Ive probably missed some that are as good but my memory isnt 100% and opinions differ.
Whats wrong with the official video for Flame Trees ? It is a short movie that captures the soul of the song.....this is not dance music or modern computer noises run thru autotune first.
@@Rassskle Its awful! Have you actually watched it? Completely detracts from the music. its basically just the band members walking around, in and out of buildings looking terminally depressed. It has zero to do with the song.
@@user-lv5bt3nt3r We are clearly talking about 2 very different videos. The video i know has an old Holden driving past a " flame tree" into town. Lots of shots of the band and others following the lyrics of the song at times, but not always. It captures the songs theme and STORY.
Bye. Just watch the original or someone else. It's a free world with plenty of channels. It's a reaction channel for a reason. I also like to go in blind with no expectations.
One of my favourite live performances ever. You should check out Kasey Chambers doing a cover of Eminem's "Lose Yourself". After looking at your playlist you already have👍😂.

If you post more Australia n content, I’ll subscribe 😎
More chisel and Jimmy pls
Oh there will be more!
Check out "Janelle" by Chisel. 5 decades of music and they don't have a bad song.
Wild Thing - Live --- next please
Not unusual to have Harmonica play lead in Aussie Pub Rock.

Hi, I'm a 72 yo from Brisbane, Australia.
You're welcome 🤗
Oh, and both Jimmy and John were born in Great Britain.
Khe sanh
Flame trees (avoid the live video and official video - Both are awful. Barnesy gets the best lines mixed up in the live version and the official video is old style and really dismal. A flame tree is a tree that turns bright vivid red in summer). My favourite.
When the war is over
Forever now. My second favourite
no sense (about fans)
Saturday night
Choir girl
You got nothing i want (about american record execs - chisel’s equivalent to Pink Floyd’s, Welcome to the Machine).

We are clearly talking about 2 very different videos.
The video i know has an old Holden driving past a " flame tree" into town.
Lots of shots of the band and others following the lyrics of the song at times, but not always.
It captures the songs theme and STORY.
😢 never again...no research done and you constantly jibber during the song
