I've been around this planet for over sixty years and this is the best, the very best acceptance speech I've ever heard. Brilliant, Don Walker. Thanks Cold Chisel for providing the best music in my life as an Aussie.

I have just come across this video. You would not believe how much this made me cry! As an adult man , I have grown up with cold chisel , got drunk, got bloody, got unconscious. This speech and the dignity that Don spoke with , made me cry. We all have people that help us. whether we acknowledge them or not is up to us. We all have demons that haunt us from our past , but with determination we can be successful. You people as individuals make a difference, whether you know or not.
I can only say 'thanks boys because your music helped me through my darkest hours, pulled me from the depths of dis-pare & filled my heart with music, you inspired me & gave me hope when non seemed to be within grasp....you kept me alive, so thank you Cold Chisel I'm ever so grateful that I've listened to your records, seen you live & absorbed that wild energy, you have made a big difference to the life I was living in, to the life I now truly enjoy, & thanks to everyone who made it all happen, this country will always be forever grateful for you all.

Don has a way with words, hence why He's the primary songwriter. He can say "thank you" and "fuck you" to the same person in the same breath and sincerely mean both. The man who wrote the beautiful and classy poetry that is I'm Gonna Roll Ya, 🤣
Every day somebody must say to Mr Walker ,how did ya do it? what inspired you? how did you know? blah blah!! As a music lover especially Australian music Mr walker will go down in history as oz best songsmith... & to all those hundreds of others out their who help with the band &( impossible to get a mention) I FUCKEN THANK YOU....
well done all of you for performing and writing some of the best music ever, Rosaline, One Long Day, etc so many good times in South Australia and many who aren't with us today!
Thank you for mentioning Michael Porter . I hung out with his younger brother Ross and bands was all ways at his parents house . Jimmy was often there. I thought a mention to Mr Mrs Porter Elizabeth Fields in his books would be appreciated by all the Lads that hung out there.
