VIDEO: Texas lawn worker uses weed eater to go after robbery suspects

- Some robbery suspects in northwest Harris County messed with the wrong guy who used his weed eater to fight back.
Video shows the victim trimming a lawn on March 29, 2024, on Renmark Lane near Cypresswood Drive.
According to Precinct 4, he spotted some men stealing equipment from his truck parked a few houses down.
As the suspects drove past him, they tried to hit the victim with their car, Precinct 4 said. That's when he threw his weed whacker at their windshield.
The car kept going but one passenger fell out and landed in the street. He tried to stand up but kept falling back down as the victim threatened him with the weed eater.
He finally ran off and got back into the red, four-door vehicle waiting nearby. Precinct 4 says a second dark-colored vehicle may also have been involved.
"The suspect, Jerell Alexander, received minor injuries from being struck and was later located at a local hospital," Constable Mark Herman said.

Stealing tools somehow feels worse than just stealing anything else. They're stealing more than just tools; they're stealing his livelihood.
Sadly, some people just don't care. Good tools have a decent resale value, and the landscapers that use them are usually from smaller companies that can't afford lawsuits.
When I had a landscaping company back in the day I had to chain everything up because dudes would just drive up and steal whatever wasn't secured while I was not in sight of my stuff.

during the aftermath of one of our hurricanes two guys tried to rob some power company linemen. One of the linemen says “my wallet is in the truck”. Well, under the seat wasn’t his wallet but a two foot long iron pipe. He comes out with it and hits the guy’s arm so hard it breaks and the gun goes flying.
The robber and his buddy run off and leave the gun on the ground. So not only did they fail at robbery but they lost their gun (which wasn’t even stolen). The power company dude was just mad he didn’t keep swinging.
I was like “you sure you broke his arm?” and he said “Oh yeah he had an extra elbow joint halfway to his wrist”.

Well they were trying to steal his equipment.. I think anyone would do the same... Equipment is not cheap plus maintenance etc... Let's not forget fuel... We spend a lot on fuel to keep those string trimmers going day after day.. push mowers and backpack leaf blowers are not cheap... It's a business and the tools are what keeps lawns looking nice and make neighborhoods look decent.. our equipment is what brings food to our family and pay our employees a good living... We work hard... 7 days a week to keep customers happy and keep our economy going...
