Just received my V900 today 9/22/18 . Been on backorder since April. This plane looks fast just sitting on the grass. Spent all day checking things out, setting up transmitter, checking control surface throws, etc. Don't want anything going wrong at the speed this thing makes.
Isn't it great in this world to have a happy man who loves his hobby....and gets the first of the news with Eflite....we need more in the world like you Bro.
Thanks so much for the kind words brother....it means so much!!! More great videos coming from SEFF....we've only just started to scratch the surface and there's TWO full days to go :)!!! Cheers Mate!
I believe it uses a standard EC-3 connector (Watch the video around the 6:15 to 6:30 mark). Now that Horizon Hobby/E-flite are selling the new SMART technology, I'm not exactly sure the new style batteries use the same connector, but the old ones should still work. I'd just check out the Horizon websote for more info. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best....Cheers!
Damn... I’m impressed he just skids it to a stop right in front of himself. You really lucked out coming up to him. That thing really cooks for being a $180 ( thereabouts).
Hey John. Just watched this, kinda interested. Can I get your opinion on which plane you prefer, because I value your opinions very much, you have not steered me wrong yet brother. The V900 or the F-27. I know they are very different, but similar too.
Hey Earl! WOW! This is a toughie, BUT, I guess I'd say V900, and here's why: I think, the V900 might, just might be a tad faster than the F-27 Evo, and I also think that if you are not familiar with launching pusher wings, they have some unique challenges to get them airborne with the prop spinning on the tail. I usually just side-arm or "frisbee" toss my wings, so I don't have that issue. Some folks can't frisbee launch a wing, so that's an issue fpr them for sure. The V900 however, does not have that problem, plus, with it's basic planform, it really launches no different than any other hand-launch belly-lander...it's just one heck of a lot faster! They BOTH slow down very nicely and land at bascially a crawl, so that's a draw there as well. I hope this helps to clear things up a bit. All the best to you my friend!
I can’t decide between this or the f27 evolution, I think I’d like this plane more in the sky but the f27 seems more portable and more crash resistant, plus it’s cheaper, anyone have both by any chance?
So is craig launching in SAFE MOde? does he switch it on or off during flight??? What is the cost of RX with safe mode? can i install it in some other fast planes i own? thanks
I was going to get the hobby king ef xtra. I’m definitely going to get this instead since I’m a fan of horizon and have a spektrum radio. When I first saw this, I thought it would be way more expensive than the hobby king version.
The EFX from hobbyking is one sweet fly I'm on my second at the moment The skill level needed for these 2 is very similar and at this skill level the as3x is a little redundent The cameraman seems to be a little over the top so to speak Maybe he hasn't seen many quick planes
That would be the first and last look at that plane if it were mine. The basic lawn dart with a motor. It looks wicked. Many of those speed planes usually dont last long. Guys fly them beyond their edge and they get mashed. Not that it matters. Killer looking anyways.
HAH! You'll notice early on in the video Craig mentions that we were talking about speed planes; I happened to be flying one a bit earlier, and not quite as fast, but certainly right at 100 mph. I don't know if my heart could handle this one though at 120 mph! And I totally agree with you...most speed planes don't have a long life-span...;)! Blue Skies to you my friend!
No Victor, you have to buy the transmitter separately, but they are pretty inexpensive. Plus, as a "Bind and Fly", you can use the same transmitter with many different planes Horizon Hobby has to offer. Cheers and all the best!
@@JustwingitRC I have a mental block with that.. I feel more successful if I launch without it but if Craig utilizes it, being a much more accomplished pilot than myself, maybe I should take a second look at doing that… your thoughts?
This plane looks awesome. 2:28 "It's super easy to launch". I beg to differ, had one of the guys at my club launch the plane for me because this was a maiden and he has several hand launch planes himself and at a little over half throttle on 3s it rolled over and nosed in that quick. The pro's can make anything look good.
Not sure Keith...I think they might be a bit big for the battery compartment. The V900 looks like it's optimized for the 1800-2200 form factor, which is more or less rectangular. Most 3,000's I know of are long, wide and flat and I don't think that lends itself to the fuselage shape. I hope this helps and thanks for checking in!
Justwingit Most likely aesthetics. I understand the fuselage bottom is lower than wings providing a skid but some people don't have the luxury of landing on relatively smooth grass.
Is this a vindication after that aerial fluke called Rare Bear? My best friend gave me the Rare Bear for Christmas 2016-2017. I've done 2 complete successful flights on the Rare Bear. It has been nothing but problems since the maiden flight. After my unsuccessful maiden (due to lack of pitch control) I discovered there was an asymmetry problem in the elevator that was reported on RC Groups, then a stalled motor for unknown reasons ( I replaced the ESC) and later a battery pack with one dead cell (I think the ESC had something to do with it). After months collecting dust I brought it to the field again and this time the pervasive cumbersome hand launch made my assistant launcher lost control during the hand launch that caused a cut that put 9 stitches to his arm. I felt awful and hate the Rare Bear, but I can't get rid of it because I don't want to explain my buddy that this airplane was not the best choice for a Christmas present. I know they discontinued the Rare Bear and I wonder is because it was just that, a rare stubby piece of junk.
Ordered. Was going to get a 70mm jet, but at the price point, I'm not passing this up. Will have planes for every need. A trainer, a glider, a bush plane and a speed freak.
Hey Thanks Buddy! I'm honored to be able to help put out the good news about Horizon's latest releases! As far as me getting one of these....I'm not sure my heart can handle it ;)! Blue Skies my friend!
Rare Bear is a BL15 1200kv, right? This looks like 1260kv.. wonder if we can put this one on 6s, too, and get it even faster than the Bears! 160+ mph on a foamie??? Yes, please.
Justwingit. I will buy one for sure. This plane reminds me of the traxxas X-01 for its speed. Only difference is, this awesome plane can actually achieve its top potential speed without crashing every single time 😂🤣 do you know what the difference is between the PNP and the basic model please?

Lets say you lose orientation ...will it level and glide to a landing if you cut the throttle? thanks
This plane has a VERY nice power-off glide capability; I have no doubt you could glide this in from pretty far away!
@@JustwingitRC But it will not level itself. It will glide very well until it finds an obstacle and impacts hard.
TRUE 😎

So, can we throw a 6s in there on this BL15 like we did on the Rare Bear? 120mph isn't fast enough.. I need 160+!
At your own risk brother....;)
Also upgrade the esc to the level of the Rarebear. Some tape under the wings for strength and you should be good!
