Lucky you! I’ve been IF and low carb for 1 year ( I do treat myself from time to time e.g. cake with my coffee once a week if I’m out, or a piece of damper with my homemade soup if I’ve made soup - maybe every 3-4 weeks, but it’s not the majority at all) and my blood pressure, numbers like yours over this past 15 months, and nothing changed. I don’t have much weight to lose (on cusp of normal/overweight), my trigs and HDL Are normal and in perfect ratio, my LDL is high. So my Dr desperately wants me on statins, I’m refusing, and after 15 months of trying and resisting I’ve started on Irbesartan lowest dose for my blood pressure 4 weeks ago. Had ECG, clean as a whistle, tested positive for SDHB gene fault which symptoms can be tumour growth messing with the endocrine system causing high blood pressure amongst more serious nasties, but an ultrasound showed clear and I expect my MRI will too ( it’s been over two weeks and no one has called me in a flurry of panic). I’ve taken my blood pressure twice so far, once it hadn’t changed at all and the second time it had dropped half way to your new numbers. This was upon waking too, so I was super relaxed. My Dr did explain all the areas of medication and why she prescribed what she did. I’m watching and waiting ….oh and I’ve taken a Dr prescribed best bio available pott and mag powder supplement and D3/K2 for the past 18 months.

I'm on carvedilol and losartan. Went from 270lb to 195 doing Keto for a year. BP at the four months ago was 180/127 with a pulse in the high 80's. Cardiovascular Primary Care Doctor didn't like that I was doing Keto, but liked that I was losing weight. Had my follow up today and I lost 21lbs from the last visit. I think she gets in a rut with most patients not doing anything to help the situation they are in. She was ecstatic and smiled the entire time talking to me about my progress. It was a 100% change in her attitude from when I first started working with her. I've only been on the meds 4 months. The conversation was keep doing what I'm doing and we can talk about getting off/reducing the HBP meds. I keep a journal and my BP has been under 120/80 with a pulse around 60 for 2 months now.

@@jedventuranza5263 ~ There's a medical study that shows that Lacidipine (another calcium channel blocker) is safer and more effective than Amlodipine. It concluded,
"patients were treated for a total of 8 weeks. At this time, supine mean diastolic blood pressure decrease was 16 mm Hg in the lacidipine group and 10 mm Hg in the amlodipine group (p < = 0.01). Adverse events were reported in 28% of patients treated with lacidipine and in 48% of patients receiving amlodipine. Ken, I just wanted to say thank you for this vid. I've known I had high BP for a couple decades. Started out a little high and continued to climb to where I'm at today. Went to the ER for a pain I had and they went through the whole thing. Two blood draws, 6 hrs on the EKG, 2 chest xrays. Turns out all the blood work came out good, xrays fine, EKG fine but blood pressure was way high. An injection brought it down part way but the Dr. wanted it lower so he gave me a small pill. After monitoring me he sent me home.
I had an appointment today with my new Primary Care Dr. (didn't have a Dr. for the last 10 years). He did his work and prescribed me LOSARTAN. Prior to leaving the house I watched this vid and wrote down all of the medications and your ranking. The instant the Dr. said what he was going to prescribe I pulled out my list and saw that it was favorable for someone in my situation. That brought comfort to me so, thank you for that.

About 5 years ago, my blood pressure was at a point where my Dr wanted me on medication. 155/90. Dr prescribed a calcium channel blocker, Amlodipine. Caused headaches initially and increased heart rate. Within three weeks, BP was 185/100. He took me off it but not before I ended up in hospital, on stroke watch with a BP of 220/110. I lost18 lbs in that time for no reason. It took 2 months to get my BP down to safe levels. Eventually a specialist put me on an ARB and within a week I was perfect. Had to lower the dose twice, to the lowest and BP stays steady around 115/70. Amlodipine is toxic to some people, like me, and the body has to purge it which, caused the weight loss. It is cheap and gets prescribed quite a bit. Beware.

I was on Valsartan for a year and did amazing! No other health issues except BP. Even lost 35 lbs on it! After there was a "raid/looting" 🙄at my pharmacy and had a problem getting my meds for almost a week. Finally got it BUT they changed me to a different brand (Mylan instead of my regular).
Suddenly my BP slowly started climbing. 😳 Like I had a bad batch. Sent to a cardiologist and he said my heart looked amazing so they said the only conclusion is it started with the new brand... Just switched to Olmesartan HCTZ (in the original brand I was on)... Only 5 days in but I can feel it working... 😄 My doctor said I should be fine and back to where I was in two to four weeks.

Have started taking two new meds after dropping the old ones. But these are not helping too much. Perhaps I should give them some more time. But I think the main culprit is that recently I have been sleeping all day and during night I have been either on my PC or on my phone watching social media. I know I have to lose weight by more exercise, more physical activities and/or intermittent fasting. All these things are easier said than done. My throat didn’t close, he watched me for about 4 hours and let me go but told me to never take that drug again. Most people who have this reaction end up in intensive care. Please be careful. After a year on beta blockers my lipid panel and triglycerides went from normal to high. Due to the stress of the pandemic, lockdown, caring for my bedridden mother, and contracting Covid; my BP began to inch upwards more, so my dosage was upped from 2.5 mg to 10 mg. After another year on this dosage with no results, I was weaned off Nebrovol and placed on the initial, lowest dose of an ARB. It seemed to be helping, but after a month I developed whelps all over, petechia on my lower legs, and pruitus on my extremities. Ugh! I’ve been miserable. Needless to say, I can’t take ARBs. The highest my BP has read now, off of BP meds, is 140/96. I came upon a video presentation by cardiologist James Roberts discussing the links between vitamin C and lipoproteins ( as I have elevated LDL and statins literally almost killed me). Upon his recommendation that people with abnormal lipid panels should supplement with 6000-10000 of vit c daily, I upped my normal 1000 mg/ day to 6,000 mg. I check my BP daily. After a few days of the upped vit c, I noticed my BP had dropped into the normal range and has stayed there. I know from Dr.Robert’s presentation that C is important for endothelial health. Just trying to make the correlation as to why my BP has dropped with the added supplementation. Anyhow, I think 6000mg of vitamin C will be my daily from here on out.

I've been on all the normal blood pressure meds, and since starting on them in 2019, my health has got worse and worse. Could be a coincidence, but I don't think so. I have JUST come off my Losartan 1 day ago. I usually come off a drug slowly, but I've done that before with Losartan, so this time I've just come off it completely. I was only on 37.5mg anyway. Last year i asked to come off Amlodipine, as I've been on that one, plus one of the other ones, virtually since I started. Earlier this year, I requested Clonidine, so am still on that 3 times a day, but I'm now going to try the supplement "Serra-Natto", plus CoQ-10.
Even taking two blood pressure meds all this time, my readings were still in stage 1-2, even occasionally 3.

Fibromyalgia is believed to be from trauma. Abuse, a sudden loss, an injury or illness. Anything that can cause large amounts or long term releases of adrenaline. The adrenaline is supposed to numb your nerves or certain senses to help you survive the traumatic situation you are facing. It's believed that large or long term releases of adrenaline can actually fry the nerves or nervous system so that messages are not sent or received correctly. Nerves have a lot to do with how our digestive system works so obviously will cause problems.
Now, I recently found relief in doing a parasite cleanse. Which I laughed at, ignored and thought was stupid for the last 10 years. However when an ongoing cough wouldn't get better with a pulmonologist, rheumatologist, and numerologist, along with 2 surgeries I was desperate. Did some research, listened to other people that discovered the same thing and started a regimen That was aggressive but WORKED. Yea you get rid of worms but there are microscopic parasites that we don't think about that cause havoc through it body including inflammation. The relief I found is beyond what I could hope for. Yea I still have some issues but nothing like what it was and I'm able to live a mostly normal life.

FYI, I have been on Lisinopril 10mg (Ace Inhibitor) for the last 12 years, would often get dizzy and my sodium and chloride blood serum levels were always low, not real low, just a few points or so below normal range. I started feeling poorly last fall and my sodium level was 128 (normal range is 135-145), my doctor didn't say anything other than to drink gatorade! I've asked several doctors over the years what causes low sodium/chloride, no one has had an answer except the prescribing doc said it might be the lisinopril but since I wasn't having problems she didn't want to change it. Levels were checked in Feb 2022 and sodium was 126! I was feeling awful, this latest lab were drawn because I was due to have cervical spine surgery....thank goodness the anesthesiologist picked up on it and said I could not have surgery with those low numbers. Went back to PCP and she put me on Amlodipine, which has improved the sodium and choloride levels, but has caused hands and feet to tingle and anxiety and full blown panic attacks. I need to call her and ask for an ARB. Just sharing this info in case anyone is taking an Ace Inhibitor and has low electorlytes. Thanks for sharing this great information Dr. Berry!

Ended up going back on Lisinopril but on 2.5mg….I asked for it….Doc told me if I cut back my fluids she didn’t think I need BP meds….I do not have SIADH, but that is what she suspected. A nephrologist that I saw this summer confirmed I do not have SIADH, but wants me to limit my fluids to 64oz a day….so far my sodium has been in the normal range. I do drink Re-Leyte Electrolytes daily to add sodium into my diet.

@@melbah5678 I'm glad it worked out well for you. I, too, was seen by a nephrologist who gave me the same advice: limit fluids and increase sodium, but when I increase sodium, my BP (already on 2 meds) skyrockets because my BP has always been sodium-sensitive. What's curious is that I was never, ever a salt-user. I never added it to my food, and I have always bought low-sodium food items. Life sure "ain't" fair.

@The Midnight Hour with Carolyn Yours is a valid point also. Perhaps there is a balance between the two. The theory for my mum is that she has smoked all of her life and a poor diet will have contributed to calcium deposits in the heart and arteries. Apparently, K2 removes the calcium and redistributes it into the bones and teeth. Maybe the solution is to just take K2?
We live in the northern hemisphere and as my mum doesn't go out much, I'm confident that she will have required some level of vitamin D supplementation.

Are you testing your blood pressures at home on a home bp monitor?
You need to sit quietly both feet flat on the floor arm at slightly below heart height, correct sized bp cuff, no talking from you or from others, quiet room, no food within 2-3 hours and no exercise within 2-3 hours, or a stressful person.
This is to test your RESTING Blood Pressure.
Often bp is higher at the doctors office, so at home your bp is lower and you get dizzy because dose is too high.
Test at ~8 am and at ~3 pm.
      Often lower in afternoon.
This way you collect and journal BP numbers to make sure both Systolic and Diastolic are in a good spot.
Diastolic should not be below 60.
      Or ask doctor for a
24 hour bp halter you wear to get an accurate reading for average 24 hour day.

I used to have blood pressure 220/100 , even higher. I was prescribed Candesartan ever increasing doses. My arteries are like from a 20 year old (I'm 60), they were checked, but the real reason was sleep apnea. I started using the "thing" in my mouth during nights, and that alone lowered the pressure to about 170/80. But I still used Candesartan 32 mg daily. The first side effect after couple of years was the missing of the "morning wood". But when it developed to actual impotence, I got worried. I asked for different medication, but Amlopidine gave other side effects; my boots became too small for me, the swelling was comical. Then I quit the medication and started taking Citrulline and L-Arginine instead. Now the blood pressure is exactly the same as with Candesartan, about 150/75. And even the "morning wood" is coming back. It takes about 2 months or more to get well after the Candesartan, and now I rather die than take any of those "real" medications. They are just poison. And the goal is to find out the cause of the high blood pressure. If your spouse complains about snoring, you propably found one reason. And the Citrulline Malate and the L-Arginine work just in the same way as some "real" drugs, same mechanism. Just without side effects. Ask your doctor a permission to test them and measure your blood pressure daily. If they work for you too, that is the safest way. Worked for me.
