Yo, if the patreon hits $1K by April 1st, I’ll start the script for an RC review of my old song "Oh My God" that just became a meme! www.patreon.com/rapcritic (I'll do a Best/Worst of Masta Artisan stream if it at least hits $750) ((and No, it's not an April Fool's gag, I'll actually do it!))

TH-cam is protecting you dude, this is a joke, 3 different comments worded slightly differently still not good enough, it knows I'm making fun of you and it can't handle it ... pathetic ...

I don't get this process. Just review it or don't. Why wouldn't you just review the song while the meme was at it's peak and capitalize off of it. Odd marketing tactic

I suspect that 'backseat lover' is a play on 'backseat driver', as in someone who sits in the back while giving (unwanted) instructions to the one who's actually driving.

The “new school” started a year later.

IIRC, when Run-DMC were in the studio making "Walk This Way" with Aerosmith, Run-DMC thought "Toys in The Attic" was the name of that band that made that famous break. It was actually Aerosmith.

This was the song that introduced me to Aerosmith. I believe my reaction was, "Who the hell are these old guys that think they can hang with RUN-DMC?"

I think Anthrax and Public Enemy’s Bring the Noise is an incredible glimpse of how rap and metal could work, pity so many terrible nu metal bands decided they could do the rapping as good as Chuck D and Flavor Flav. Most of the musicians weren’t a patch on Anthrax either.

When Steven hit that run for “talk this way,” it oozes sexual energy that just makes it better than the original. This was definitely a game changing collaboration.

They were one of the reasons metal heads started listening to rap. If Aerosmith was cool with it then so were we

@@SEAZNDragon yeah they aren’t metal but metal was cool with Aerosmith. Back then if you weren’t Metallica megadeth anthrax or slayer you sucked basically. Aerosmith was cool with metal heads

Few rap-rock/metal collabs really work but when they do they kick ass. Cypress Hil - trouble is a great example has one of my favourite basslines.

Goddamn legends. I was a little too young for prime Aerosmith, but I was in the perfect sweet spot for Run-DMC's rise to power and this song mind blowing. You can mix... rap, and... rock? Just amazing. And yes, the lyrics, both versions, make no damn sense ;)

  • @NickersonGeneral

wait.....isn't steven tyler saying "real young BREEDER"? I swear I'm hearing an R there. Run DMC are definitely saying "bleeder".

If Run DMC didn't do this Aerosmith wouldn't be around anymore Aerosmith was on a steep decline
I find it neat when rock bands decide to do something with rap groups and vice versa

Pretty sure “gave her a little kiss” is about “going down”, especially since Tyler sings “just give me some h**d” instead of “just give me a kiss” in some live versions.
