  • In today's episode of Another Puzzle Solved, I track down where exactly Future London could be hiding, and give Level 5 a firm telling off for not ensuring consistency between their cutscenes, maps and background images...

    Here’s another puzzle: how rich was that lady who adopted Clive and how in God’s name did he pitch this to Dmitri! In all honesty though these videos are so underrated, I’m really enjoying Another Puzzle Solved thank you for keeping our tiny community alive :,)

      The underground London being Clive's idea is actually a pretty common misconception, that was all Dimitri. At least, it seems like that from the way Layton explains everything, since he specifically gave Dimitri the motive for making the future London (tricking his kidnapped scientists into thinking they're trapped in the future so they work harder).
      So I guess the real question is how the hell Dimitri got Clive to fund this!

    I mean that certainly explains why some of the characters felt so sick after being transported to the "future" (IIRC, Barton mentioned being nauseous, and Flora just fainted)!

    Next Time: Working out how on earth Clive and Dimitri were able to organise the creation of this underground space without it making the news above ground and ruining their illusion completely
    (this was some awesome work btw)

    Ah, I love the Another Puzzle Solved series - thank you very much for dedicating your time and effort to make these! But you know, seeing those cutscenes again makes me wonder how many people Clive must've killed/wounded when he smashes into those buildings on the surface with the mobile fortress. Would that make this the Layton game with the highest death count? Or would the end of the Azran Legacy beat it?

      An interesting idea! I think Clive definitely wins it here (if you can call it that...) but it might be worth invesitgating further!

    Woah, these are some great videos you make, DH!
    To be honest, watching this one made me think more on Underground London and the damage Clive caused - though we only get to see him smash his mobile fortress on a few houses, who knows how many more kills Clive could have even caused off-screen.
    To be honest, I always find Layton's universe a mystery since it makes me want to learn more and how similar it may be in real London haha- but anyways, keep up the good work!

    This video was stunning and had so much research behind it. Despite the fictional setpiece, all these comparisons to real London and the deductive reasoning used throughout definitely felt worthy of the Professor himself!
    As a (shameless) aside, I did a video talking about the apparent 33rd borough of London, so I know firsthand how much work goes into a project like this. Excellent video!

    if you look at some of the official art, specifically the art of layton and luke facing the clock, you can actually see some numbers. Some of these are mid turn, but you can make out a 9, 7 and 4. It is unclear if the numbers have just turned to them, or are in the process of turning. This messes with the timeline a little though.

    • @DearestHershel
      @DearestHershel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That particular image is from an older promo image. The devs changed the layout of that part of the time machine in the actual released version of the game, so it doesn't have any numbers there.

    • @DearestHershel
      @DearestHershel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's a really cool theory that suggests Future London may have already existed and Clive inherited it after Constance Dove's death. Constance was insanely wealthy, so perhaps her wealth came from a crime syndicate, which took people and placed them in this massive film set, convincing them they're trapped until they pay up. Clive inherited it and used it for his own means, but still letting the Family continue the crime ring.

    Lovely video, but about five minutes and ten seconds in you wrote:
    "and then line that up against the fortress to calculate it's height".
    It's = it is.
    I assume you used the apostrophe to mean "belonging to", as in "the fortress' height", but it doesn't work that way for the word "it's". The apostrophe is used either to remove a letter, contracting two words into one, or to show something is belonging to another thing. Using the "belonging" idea to the word "it's" is fallacious.
    It's a great video though.
