    Videos like this are the missing piece in this "Christian Metalcore" genre. A lot of people just listen for the sound of metalcore but miss the lyrics. Thank you guys for shedding light on the deeper meaning. God bless, prayers for your wife in her battle with cancer.

      That's what's so wonderful about this sub-genre tho. You don't have to take the lyrics in a religious way, you can take them however you want, depending on your beliefs!

    • @mwboost
      @mwboost 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's only maybe 2 members of the band that are christians. They don't label themselves as a christian band or christian metalcore either as they've mentioned in interviews. 🤷‍♂️ They may have the odd lyric here and there at times but that's about it.

    • @bumpsy
      @bumpsy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mwboost nah, Matt, Jake and Brent are 100% religious christians and I wouldn't be surprised if the others are too; coming from amish country and all that.
      Also, just because they don't want to label themselves as a christian band (cause that's not really a genre), they still have loads of influences drawn from their beliefs. They simply like to convey positivety and love to everybody who's listening, regardless of beliefs or religion

    • @mwboost
      @mwboost 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bumpsy Yeah definitely an influence. As they've mentioned in an interview though they're not all christians. Eh.. Either way still good tunes no matter how you take in their lyrics/songs.

    Something I forgot to mention yesterday, a recommendation of Anberlin's song *Fin which is about a crisis of faith the lead singer, Steven Christian, had as a child and as he put it "The truth is if you are looking for God in Christians prepared to be disappointed; the truth is we humans are all hypocrites, ALL OF US. Luckily I found Christ, in spite of these and other stories that propelled me in the opposite direction." It's an incredibly deep song that it would be cool to see your take on.

    I don't know if I am getting soft or what... but ABR always seems to make me weep a bit with their lyrics being so powerful and truthful. So many "good Christians" pray and act like their statements of faith project further than their actions yet behind closed doors can be so questionable. Love the call for empathy and sympathy in the song. His mercy is spoken in this song in my opinion

It gives a really blunt portrayal of what its like to live every day battling depression and how it makes a person feel. While it does have some swearing in it, its nothing like the Slayer song you listened. I would just really like to hear your reaction and what you have to say about the song.

      Gone with the Wind was written by Tom himself while he was still alive, so it's not really a song about him. The whole album however, is basically about him dealing with his disease and the prospect of dying though, not just Gone with the Wind (I think the final track, Memento Mori, is the deepest and most emotional song on the album in that respect).

      August Burns Red is one of the oldest Metalcore bands that stayed in the subgenre instead of changing their sound (both for better and for worse, ABR has a lot of great songs, but a lot of their songs sound too similar to each other).

    Here's a song I think you should react to, Liar from the Rollins Band. Not what one would consider as a Christian song, but it describes how the enemy tempts the flesh with lies.
